   This is one of the best day creams I have ever had. Pros are that it’s very hydrating and moisturizing without leaving skin sticky or greasy. Cons are that it’s strongly scented and I believe it has a little bit of pigmentation to it that raises the chance of foundation oxidation.

   Instant love. I’m always looking for ways to add a moist looking glow to my face after I finish applying all of my makeup. Sometimes I use a spray made of water, lavender and chamomile oils, sometimes a NARS highlighter, sometimes a Sue Devitt spray. This is truly different and special. It smells amazing, the texture is perfect and it leaves a fresh, healthy looking glow that is not tacky and leaves the skin looking smooth and soft.

   Clarins Vital Light Day / Clarins Capital Lumière Jour is basically an anti-aging skincare, with an emphasis made on complexion glow.

   Indeed, the story of the Vital Light range is based on the concept of the “capital lumière”, name of the range in French. The sense of this would be in English “light capital” or “light asset”, meaning that skin originally has the capacity to reflect light. Clarins explains that with age, this light capital / light asset decreases. This is the core of the concept of the Vital Light / Capital Lumière range. The aim of this range is to improve skin condition to restore this light capital / light asset.

   The story is told like this : Clarins states that 10% of light is directly reflected by skin. 90% penetrates deeped. Collagen fibers reflect this light, called “skin deep brighteness”. Young skin has an intrinsic light capital : it has the best conditions to reflect light. However, with age, this light capital decreases : derm is desorganized, skin is less firm, wrinkles appear, the light is less reflected. Here comes Clarins answer : Vital Light / Capital Lumière, to smooth skin, to reduce wrinkles, for a glowing complexion.

   The new range corrects aging signs to restore light capital / light asset :

   – it fights cellular aging
   – it reorganizes the derm
   – it stimulates microcirculation
   – it unifyies complexion by controling melanin production

   The efficiency of the formula is claimed to be linked to three “pioneer plant” extracts. These plants are said “pioneer” because they have the hability to adapt to the most hostile soils and climates.

   – Cochlearia Officinalis Flower/Leaf/Stalk Extract : extract of Scurvy-grass, a plant adapted to life on the seashore, a environment rich in salt. This ingredient is claimed to be exclusive to Clarins, protected by a patent. Scurvy-grass is rich in Vitamin C, and is known to be antisceptic and fortifying. In the Clarins formula, it is claimed to have regenerating properties, to stimulate collagen production, to eliminate oxidized proteins, to inihibit glycation, and to delay cell senescence.

   It is extremely expensive imo retailing at $82.00 US. Would I buy it again? Yes.

   The first time I use it, my dad ask me if I was wearing makeup, cause my skin looked definetly more bright….. It really gives a healthy glow. I use the Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil at night and the capital Lumiere in the morning….loving the results!!!!!

   I bought this moisturizer as a bit of a treat to myself and also to qualify for a GWP. it’s AUA$120, which is about twice the amount I would normally spend on a day moisturizer, so my expectations were pretty high. The consultant was so eager to sell it to me (it just had been launched) that she didn’t bother mentioning it’s targeted for mature skins. I’m only 29, and don’t normally buy anti-aging prods. Ok, so the cream is quite rich and you only need a little bit for the whole face. It absorbs quickly and is easy to smooth over the face. While rich, it doesn’t feel too thick or greasy and absorbs quickly. Great base for makeup. Over time ive noticed an increase in luminosity, and it keepa my skin moisturized in winter (well, Australian winter is not that harsh anyway). Not bad, but wouldn’t pay so much again. Oh, and the jar packaging is unhygienic, obviously trying to appeal to the more mature market.

   I seem to fit right in the age range for this, Extra Firming just wasn’t doing it any longer.
   Nicely moisturising and did seem to make my skin look brighter. Will buy again, but probably in duty free as it’s pricey.

   Also called Vital Light in English (althought I prefer Capital Lumière in French) is the latest treatment from Clarins.
   A good moisturizer, I got the 15ml promo size and was pleased with it, -used it up all – although I am not in the proper age range (it’s intended for mature skin).
   It’s quite moisturizing and thick for the dry and cold winter days. It really gives a healthy glow. It leaves your skin smooth, elastic and soft.
   I am not sure it could work on humid/hot climates: the consistency can be melting and greasy.
   However it’s a very good cream, a bit on the pricey side (70 Euros for 50ml jar: it’s high end Clarins….). Give it a try.
