I first received this as a sample in an allure box. I held on to it a long, long time before using because I lost track of what I had done with it. Then, I was going through and organizing my stash and lo and behold, there it was and I quickly put it in my medicine cabinet to use that night. Where do I start.
The formula is thin, almost watery and so spreads like a dream and it has a barely there scent. The next morning I could see a difference. My skin looked brighter and smoother. I liked it so much that I managed to use it for a whole week straight. (Consistency is not my forte.) My skin continued to look fresh and the area where my under eye meets my cheek – my area of most concern – looked much better. The fine lines there were more faint. At this point, I began searching everywhere for a good price or gwp so as to order a full bottle. My sample still isn’t totally empty so I haven’t broke into my new bottle yet and even though I have been slacking with my skincare routine the last several nights I still see an improvement in my eye area so i am excited to get back on track.
A few more thoughts. I do own a prescription tube of tretinoin but I have barely made a dent in it after over a year because of the increased sensitivity I always experience in the 2nd and third weeks despite using it sparingly only every other night or every couple of nights. I haven’t had that issue with the the Sunday Riley retinoid serum and thankfully it doesn’t stink like some of the other products in her line. I am 47 with dry skin that can be reactive but is otherwise clear and youthful looking in appearance.

This formula is definitely potent. I have been trying the sample from the expert edit. I am quite knowledgeable of my skin and could immediately see (well, the morning after) that this is “doing something”. i got a few good uses out of it and I am certain it would have effects on the texture of my skin should I continue to use it- except I simply love another product. The elegance of the formula is eons over the DE one – this is more liquid, absorbs faster, it is more foolproof (it is easier to control the amount you put on your face and the amount that comes out of the packaging). I feel a bi intimidated by the many, many, I mean many ingredients in the formula. My fav product contains 1/5 of that and I definitely know what each one does. But in terms of performance and product I have nothing bad to say about it- maybe that it delivers too fast and one should use a bit more caution than instructed when approaching it

I received this as a sample and used it every night for about two weeks (that’s how long the sample lasted) and I’m hooked. I had been using a different retinol before this one and didn’t get the hype behind retinols because I saw zero difference in my skin. But this changed my mind!
My texture improved and my tone became more even. My skin was glowing, darker spots fading, and I can even wear less foundation. I plan on buying this for sure! Win for me!!!!

I received deluxe sample of this in my Allure beauty box it was enough to last a month using 2 pumps every other day and I can say I can really see a difference. My use of vitamin A derived products is limited, but I never really noticed a difference in the other products I’ve tried. This I noticed a positive change within the first week. Week 1 my skin had a glow it had not had before and it only got better after that. I noticed my skin issues reduced like congestion, dark spots lessen and just an over all skin health I have not seen before.
I like there is little to no smell, I only catch a vinaigrer whiff every so often and it’s gone in seconds. It’s also in a great airless pump and easy to travel with.
The only reason I took a away a lippie is due to the price $85 USD. For me that is quite expensive. Even with the high price tag I reordered when my sample was done.

The new Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum is probably one of the more impressive Sunday Riley products that I’ve tried. I was surprised to see that not only did Sunday Riley include Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, but they actually included Retinol, just plain Retinol. The Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate seems to be touted as the next best retinoid, but I am skeptical that it can actually provide results on par with other types of Retinol. It was relieving for me to see both of these included in the ingredient list because I prefer not to solely rely on Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate being the wonder ingredient that some are claiming it is. So far I am enjoying this serum and I like that fact that it feels slightly hydrating due to the inclusion of a few emollient ingredients. I also like that the A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum doesn’t have a scent like many other Sunday Riley products do. This product does contain a very small amount of alcohol, thankfully it is near the end of the ingredient list (see below).
