Azelaic acid is an ingredient that will cause a purge. To shorten the experience, get a good derm office to do a facial with extractions first.
Now that that’s been said, this product alone (along with my discovery that alcohol toners are the WORST and moisturizing even oily skin is a MUST), keeps my very acne-prone face clear. Actually clear. After 20 years of trying everything. As with anything that changes your skin’s behaviour, give it 6 weeks before you judge.
Note: I’m in Toronto, so it’s rather expensive after shipping, duty and taxes… It’s because in Canada, azelaic acid can only be acquired by prescription in the form of Finacea (15%). I may try it after I finish this product. It’ll actually be cheaper even without coverage Though, it comes in gel form, so it may be more drying.

I really wanted this product to work! It felt nice on the skin both alone or mixed with a simple moisturizer (CeraVe lotion) but broke me out every time I used it. Had no effect on pores. Returned

I live in southern CA, am prone to sunspots and have found that mixing a pea-sized amount of this with my moisturizer helps prevent them from forming (of course in conjunction with faithful sunscreen use everyday). For existing spots, it helped them from getting worse, but didn’t really fade them noticeably–I think I’ll still need a separate product to target those. However, I just ordered a 2nd tube since I’d rather use preventative measures than have to go through the redness and molting that goes with heavy-duty spot lightening products. The gel cream texture, lack of added fragrance and salicylic acid are added bonuses, too. Don’t expect an instant gratification result from this–long-term use and prevention is much more its thing.

I’m teetering on the fence about this. I really want it to work, so much that I decided to try it in spite of the dimethicone. Which, let’s face it, is always trouble for me. But in this product it’s pretty far down on the list, so I thought it might be okay.
Well, the cream has a nice texture and an inoffensive smell. It feels good, and I don’t need any other moisturizer with it. However, I seem to find gratuitous pimples on my cheeks every time I use it. If you don’t have a problem with silicone type ingredients, you might want to try it. I mean, you should see the reviews on the website! It’s game changer/ holy grail all over the place. Everybody’s skin tone is so even now! Sad that I’m probably going to have to give up on it.

This is a white cream in a tube that had rave reviews on Paula’s site, so I thought I’d try it for my acne and hyperpigmentation. While I don’t find the results as amazing as those reviews, I did see some lightening of my spots, though it hasn’t helped with redness much. Probably this works better over time, and it seems to be more effective when mixed with moisturizer, as the tube suggests.
