A decent matte top coat for its price and volume.
This is my first time using a matte top coat and I quickly learned three things:
1. Shake the bottle really well before using.
2. Make sure your nail polish is completely DRY before putting it on.
3. Apply a THIN coat (the instructions on the bottle mention this). Literally scrape as much off the brush as possible.
Applying this topcoat on polish that is still wet will make your mani shrink and crack. The same goes for putting it on too thick.
I committed both mistakes the first time I used it and I ended up with a ruined mani.
Moral of the story: DRY your polish first and apply THIN coats.
On my second try, I made the noted adjustments (waited until my polish was dry and applied thin coats). This gave my mani a lovely frosted matte finish. I had SH Midnight in NY on my nails at that time and the micro shimmer looked beautiful peeking out from the matte finish.
The matte finish lasted three days before it faded into a semi shiny satin.
Not too bad, considering I’ve seen others complain about theirs fading after only a day. Though I still wish the finish lasted longer.
If you want to try matte nails but don’t want to pay the prices for the higher end brands (OPI, Essie), this is a decent matte top coat. Its cheap and it works well enough.
You just need to be patient with making sure your polish is dry before applying this topcoat. Unlike a normal quick dry topcoat, you can’t really rush this one.

Wow, am I mad. This crap ruined my manicure. I had been looking at NY Fashion Week pictures of what was hot in nail polish looks and saw a manicure that had used a matte finish top coat on just a part of the nail giving it a really subtle and modern look with the shiny polish against the geometric matte shape.
I was picking up some nail accents at Walmart and saw this HUGE bottle of mattifying topcoat for under $4 so I thought yay I can try that look!
I went home and did my manicure with Revlon polish in Vixen, then applied the KISS Accent Stickers on my ring fingernails – nice! After it dried I decided to try adding a neat matte swipe to the other nails. Using French manicure tape I sectioned off the top halves of my nails so I could have matte tips.
The product in the bottle looked like it had separate somewhat, but the bottle said nothing about shaking before use. I gave it a half hearted shake and applied it to my nail tips. As I applied it it was pretty liquidy, but suddenly a glob of gel got deposited on my nail. I stopped and gave the bottle a good shake this time, and continued to apply. By the time I was on my second hand I gasped when I saw where I had applied this product were pure white clumps obscuring my tips and the colour of the polish – wha??? My second hand faired much better and only had a white chunk here or there – wow, what a bonus. I applied more colour over top as the white didn’t go away, then I redid the matte top coat to just those areas.
By that time I could see things were now an unholy mess. I carefully removed the tape and it lifted chunks of the colour and top coat off – just came peeling off. And the matte top coat changed the polish colour from Vixen to creepy charred bruise-like black. And I still had white spots like in the picture I’ve attached of my thumbnail with the big white chunk.
I’m so mad because the polish and the accents were looking pretty good and now my manicure is ruined and I have to do them all over again.
This is going back! I think I’m over the matte nail look.
