I have been using Carita’s Lagoon Water for nearly a decade now….it is a mainstay in my routine, and has always made an appreciable difference in my skin. It is quite hydrating, has a lovely white flower-guava fragrance, and seems to help make my skin more radiant. I absolutely love this product, so I was quite concerned when it was reformulated sometime last year. However, it was a real relief when I tried the new formula, and found that it still works beautifully. The old formula was dispensed from a bottle with a screw-top cap, and you would pour out what you wanted in your hand or a cotton pad (I always poured out a bit in my hands and then patted it on my face). However, the new formula comes in a spray bottle and comes out as a fine mist. I wasn’t sure at first what I would think about the mist, but I have really been loving it and now prefer this method to dispense. The mist is quite fine and very refreshing, and helps keep from wasting product. This is one of those products that has earned a permanent place in my routine, and adds a perfect layer of weightless moisture.
[Official literature from box and brochure]:
Enriched through a millennial circuit found in the volcanic rocks of Polynesian atolls, Lagoon Water slowly acquires essential minerals. Thanks to Carita’s scientific expertise, the Ideal Hydratation range pursues its penetration beyond the surface of the skin, where its full benefits are released.
Bathed in moisture, the skin is hydrated and refreshed. This reviving skin care infuses the skin with moisture and nourishes for younger-looking and brighter skin.
Eau des Lagoons Innovation: this newly micronized texture forms a light, airy mist for a uniform application on the skin. Effortlessly, skincare micro-droplets envelop the skin with intensive moisture, improving the cutaneous texture and instantly toning the face. Skin is energized, bright, and supple. Ideal for morning and evening use.
[2010 review for original formula]:
I heart this toner sooooo much. Lagoon Water is part of Carita’s hydrating line, and has slight radiance revealing properties in addition to those of hydrating and softening. Lagoon Water comes in a clear blue plastic bottle that looks much nicer than what it sounds like. Lagoon Water has a beautiful white floral marine scent that I find to be a fabulous part of my morning routine. There isn’t even a hint of alcohol in here, which is wonderful for my dry sensitive skin, as well as my sense of smell. Carita recommends using Lagoon Water on a cotton ball, but I simply pour a bit into my cupped hands and press it into my skin. It works beautifully that way, and I have found Lagoon Water to be wonderfully hydrating as well as holding slight refining and radiance revealing properties. I can tell a real difference in my skin when I use this versus when I’m out of it. Far and away the best toning product I have ever used. Also, an unexpected bonus is that it removes the last traces of my eye makeup. Granted, I don’t wear heavy makeup or waterproof mascara, but it takes off the last traces of my Diorshow without any trouble at all – after I press the product into my skin (I use Lagoon Water, as well as the Gelee, on my eyes with no trouble whatsoever) I just dab any remaining eyemakeup off with a cotton ball. I love the fact that this saves me from having to purchase a separate eyemakeup remover – I have tried and liked Aveda’s, but it would make my eyes sting on occasion and I have never had that issue with Lagoon Water. Lovelovelove this line!
