Can’t live without this product. I’ve been using it religiously for the past 2 years. I stopped using it for a couple months when it ran out, and my skin became super prone to breakouts again. Since I started using it again, I rarely even get one pimple and my skin is so much brighter. Highly highly recommend!!

This product seems to have as much alcohol as does their purple-bottled type 2 clarifying lotion and it feels equally as drying. It does help with acne, but it is so drying my skin cannot tolerate it. I feel this would be better suited to someone with oily skin, however not everyone who has acne falls in that category.

I tried a deluxe try me size of this Clinique acne toner Bc I had bought their acne starter kit I was hoping that this toner would do something to help control my very oily t zone! But unfortunately it doesn’t do much for oil control! & I don’t think ???? it’s very healthy for the skin to be subjected to so much alcohol ????!???? In this case this toner is similar to Clinique #4 toner in fact all of Clinique toners have too much alcohol in them & when I finish off all of my inventory of their toners i will never repurchase them again Bc it’s alcoholic content can’t be possible healthy for your skin ????! ????????!

This product is really the other thing, besides one other product in my skin care routine, that I actually see make a difference in my acne. Seriously, it’s come to the point where I can’t be without this toner. It really helps clear my acne. Does make my oily skin dry right after I use it, but duh, it’s the salicylic acid. I just follow up with a skin gel and then moisturizer or a face oil. I see such a difference in my skin when I happen to run out of it for like a week. That’s why I buy 2 bottles at one time because I literally cannot be without it.

I am the biggest Clinique skincare proponent fan ever—i should own stock in it. Clinique skincare A+ their makeup is a solid B- always make a point of The GWPs…I have been eating sleep breathing 3 step for some time.. 3 step forever! A little about me: I’m early 40s no acne for the past 2 years but have a history of bad acne to the point I was put on minocycline long term when I was adolescent too when this all went down. So age 9-20 Minocycline rotated w amoxicillin then age 20 decided on oral contraceptives been on diff brands of “the pill” all my life & shot. Shot makes my acne worse but I’m not on it for acne..something else blah. boring been using mainly Clinique all of these years. My skins evolved. I was on clarifying lotion 3 as a kid. I used oily skin facial liquid soap or their bar. I didn’t need acne solutions til now. Due to Clinique SA she told me Extra Mild liquid soap. I used it a couple of days & erupt into painful unsightly cystic acne! I quit the cleanser & started using Disl Gold e Cleocin T topical int my Macy’s dot com order arrived. I live on an exceedingly small town. I’m still having zits popping op out of nowhere. the only new thing was changing from oily skin facial soap to extra mild so i got the 4 week trial. Not fond of BP. My sweat bleaches evthing. After 4 weeks are up I’ll decide if it merits buying full sized bottles this was approx $28 from macys.com. I feel like the products are helping already it’s not been thafwas able to get a full refund at Macy’s as for the extra mild liquid facial soap. The trio impressed me. Wow it’s good & think I’ll buy this cleanser/clarifying toner (why on earth do they call it lotion?!) but not the moisturizer from this trio bcoz of BP. I’d just use DDMGel. I have a a handle on this acne finally after that horrid soap. I did buy the acne solutions bar of soap Their soap lasts forever! Still going strong 2 years from when I bought my old soap the oily skin bar soap. My mom thinks I spend too much on skincare but you wouldn’t put didddl in a Ferrari anyways Clinique isn’t high like chanel I tried chanel a year ago it’s awesome but too much money. This toner mattifies & clarifies But I still have blackheads to be expected. #winning

The product is sold under The Anti-Blemish Clarifying Lotion in the EU.
It is an excellent lotion for oilier acne-prone skin-types. People with dryer skin (with acne) should use it only in warmer more humid weather otherwise it can be too drying on the skin.
It contains 1.5% Salicylic Acid that is an approved anti-acne substance in the US and also allowed in cosmetics in the EU.
It has some humectants and skin conditioners and a blend of some excellent anti-inflammatory ingredients that can counteract the drying effect of Salicylic Acid.
It has a higher amount of Nylon-12 powder for oil-absorption. However, it will not be able to much of that. It will, on the other hand, contribute to a smoother feel at application though.

This always clears up my acne. Cystic, whiteheads, blackheads– it doesn’t matter. This works wonders. You DO need to work up to applying 2x per day, but it’s great

My skin is very acne prone. But recently I was getting so many pimples. My entire face was covered in active pimples and each day I was seeing few more new pimples. I tried many many many products. Each one I tried for 7-10days to see if it is working or not. But none of them worked except this one. I started using it 7 days back and I don’t have any active pimples right now. Yes I’ve many scars but at least new pimple is not coming. And this product is responsible for that as my rest of the skin care routine is same. This product has 1.5% salicylic acid. But this is kind of on the stronger side. It has alcohol in it and very harsh on the skin. My skin become drier since I start using it. I wish it is not this harsh so that I can continue to use this even after clearing up my acne. But I’m not sure if I’m going to reuse it after clearing up my acne. But if I have acne again I may reuse it. This product is a winner for me.

My skin type? Acne-prone, very oily all over, prone to clogging, slightly sensitive, medium complexion
Skin concerns: Hyper-pigmentation, light scarring, uneven skin, moderate acne (monthly), very oily skin, clogged pores, dry patches (due to acne medication)

I bought this back in 2013 for around $20 CDN and have been using it off-an-on since, along with the Acne Solutions Foaming Face Wash.
“Did it help with my acne?”
Initially, yes, I believe this did help me clear my acne. In 2013, I broke out very badly along my chin and jawline and this helped my acne medications work better. On its own, I believe it wouldn’t have been as effective but I do think that it helped make my routine ‘more effective’ and ‘stronger’. It also helped with dry patches and it does exfoliate my skin because my make-up, afterwards, goes on a lot smoother. The ingredient “salicylic acid 1.5%” probably has a lot to do with that.
“Does it help control oil?”
Ehhhh, not so much. I’d say it probably doesn’t make that much of a difference. Because of the high alcohol content, being the second ingredient on the list, it does have a “drying” effect once you first put it on. However, throughout the day, my skin’s natural oiliness peaks through unchanged.
“Does it dry my skin out and does it irritate my skin?”
No, but my skin is pretty tough as it’s used to strong medications like “retinoids, topical antibacterials, AHA’s, BHA’s” so a toner with salicylic acid won’t dry out or irritate my skin. However, for those who aren’t used to BHA’s and are first starting out, I can see how this might ‘sting’ and ‘irritate’ those skin types. The alcohol content might also cause irritation and redness.
“Does it unclog pores?”
Not really. I now suffer from clogged pores more than I did back in 2013 and this toner hasn’t helped me with that problem. Clogged pores are a really difficult thing to get rid of. I’d say this product would be good for ‘preventing’ clogged pores and just exfoliating surface cells BUT it doesn’t have the power to penetrate deep enough to really unclog, hardened pores (that’s what retinoids are for.)
My final thoughts with this toner is that it’s helped me initially with my acne and it hasn’t irritated or broken out my acne-prone skin so I love that about this. However, I feel like the ingredients in this (such as the alcohol) won’t help my skin in the long-run. I’ve just entered my 20’s and am being very careful with what I put on my skin. This isn’t the best toner out there but it did work for me previously. Now, it doesn’t seem to do anything for my top skin concerns: clogged pores, uneven skin texture, and hyper-pigmentation. I’ll keep this as a back-up but for now I’m on the hunt for a better toner! 🙂

I’ve been using this product on and off as part of the Anti-Blemish line for years. I’ve always found it to be a pretty reliable product when dealing with my acne- it helps to clear away dead skin which can build up causing blemishes, plus because it cleans the skin really well, it prepares it nicely for my topical skin cream. However I’ve decided it’s time to phase out the use of the product due to the high alcohol content. My skin has calmed down a bit over the years and I feel that it’s time to start using products that will care for it as it ages, rather than aggressively scrub away layers from my face! I’ve been through a lot of products over the years so my skin is pretty resilient, but I can imagine those with drier skin would not get along well with this- it’s just way to harsh.
That said I always did like looking at the cotton bud after wiping it over my face. There was usually some residue makeup, and it was satisfying to know my face was SUPER clean before bedtime. Also helpful if I wanted to test how effective a cleanser/makeup remover was!
