On its own, this sunscreen will make your face look like a disco ball. There’s a lot of shimmer. You must shake it well or the pigment will separate and leave red streaks. It’s a weirdo. But, if I mix it with Coola mineral tinted lotion, which is REALLY yellow, then I have the perfect color for my skin. I am of Mexican and Scandinavian heritage
It is pricey, so I tend to buy it when Sephora has those paltry 15-25% off coupons around the holidays.

Pros
It is tinted
Stays on skin
No rolling or peeling
Cons
Feels like a layer of grease
I have oily, acne-prone skin most of the year. My skin tone is medium with golden undertones. I purchased a sample of this tinted sunscreen hoping to alleviate the white cast that most sunscreens leave. The positives of this product include the fact that it does help avoid the white cast. Also, I did not have a hard time making it stay on my face and neck; there was no peeling or rolling. The reason I wouldn’t purchase it again is that it does it get absorbed by my skin. My face feels like it has a layer of grease. During the winter I do not mind it because my winter skin is drier. I understand that it is a physical sunscreen and therefore I am going to feel it more than I would when using a chemical sunscreen. It is still uncomfortable tough. I could wear a smaller amount of sunscreen but that would defeat the purpose of sunscreen. Of course, it has a high price tag, after all, it is Drunk Elephant. I do love the packaging of the sample size better than the full size. The sample size you twist open, press the desired amount out and then twist closed. The full size you have to unscrew t cap.

I think my search for a zinc oxide, silicone-free daily sunscreen is over finally. I tried this a couple of years ago when it had the mica (shimmer) in it and loved everything about it except the shimmer. Well, now the mica has been removed and it is, dare I say perfect!
The tint is just enough to get rid of white cast and give a slight glow (not shimmer, just aliveness) to skin. To me it’s moisturizing and after application, the skin is moisturized and dewy. Some reviewers have said “greasy” but to me it’s dewy and by the time I put on my mineral makeup and finishing powder, my skin just feels and looks like skin ya know. No grease, no dew. I’m still waiting patiently for some post acne hyperpigmentation to fade, but when it does I can see myself just using this and finishing powder on busy days.
I was really scared to try this again because of all the reviews saying it was drying, greasy, pills, is orange, doesn’t work with makeup etc. But none of that is true for me. It just works beautifully! The only thing I put on before it is Dr. Hauschka Rose Day cream.
I also use the non-tinted one on my neck and chest because I’m extra like that.
The only think I don’t really like is the screw lid. I wish it came with a flip top lid to make it easier to open and close. But that is a MINOR MINOR thing considering it is hard to find a sunscreen that fits my criteria and is aesthetically pleasing to work with.
It’s on expensive side, but worth it to me. I like that it comes in 2oz rather than 1oz or less like a lot of other high end sunscreens.

I’ve tried most of DE’s products and really enjoy a lot of them, but this is not one of their best. I have dry, sensitive skin that is particularly reactive to sunscreens (almost all chemical SPFs and even some mineral formulas). Two of the only formulas that do not irritate my skin are Dr. Jart’s Premium BB Cream (which I avoid because it isn’t cruelty free) and It Cosmetics’ Anti Aging Armour Beauty Fluid SPF 50+ (which has been sold out at Sephora and Ulta for quite a while), so I’m always on the lookout for another good option.
On the plus side, this does not irritate my skin, make my pores feel suffocated, burn the area around my eyes, etc. – none of the usual SPF upset. It doesn’t smell weird, it’s not hard to spread, and it doesn’t leave a white cast. The container is fine, the price is reasonable compared to competitors, and it’s cruelty free.
As for the cons, this leaves me with an orange tint and has way too much glitter (especially visible in certain lighting) and makes my face feel increasingly dry starting about an hour after I apply it. All in all, it doesn’t look or feel great, and given that it isn’t particularly novel and only provides 30SPF, it’s just not worth bothering with.

So, I was so excited to see this product given that I had to use the Umbra sheer with a foundation or primer. I’m a big fan of mulitple purpose products so this was great. I love the texture and how I didn’t have to warm it up to apply it, like you do with the sheer SPF. It goes on great but the problems start after application. For starters, it rolls into little balls and no matter how hard I try to get the thinnest layer possible, it still peels, shreds, rolls…..i’m not sure what word to use to describe it but it sheds and I have it on my shirt. Then, as it dries, my face turns orange in areas where it’s a little thicker. I need to keep checking to see if I need to wipe it off with a damp towel, which then defeats the purpose. Does anyone else have these issues? After this is gone, I’m sticking with the sheer Umbra. I’ll use this at the beach or anytime I’m not at work.

I’ve tried on samples ( share in jar ), but it really disappointed product. When I start to rub it, I always pat it on my face. But there’s some residue, even when I pat it with cushion puff. And in like hours, it become so dry on my face. I feel so tight. Maybe because I can’t resist some ingredients in it ( perhaps cetearyl alcohol ). Too bad, because the tint is so perfect and match with my skin tone. So maybe I will use it only for primer/foundation.

I hate this product lol
Cons
Why the hell are there so much glitters
Cause me to breakout with tiny pimples around my cheeks with just one use and i thought it was the new powder i used so i used this alone and it caused two major pimples to form…
Give it to my mom and she said it was drying and made her skin rough
The tint transfers everywhere…
i didnt want to return it because i used it and i know i can still return it but i dont feel like that is something right to do
So i applied to the back of my hands and it transfered onto my book while i was reading
So i guess i cant use it anywhere since i dont want chairs to be cover in sunscreen
Pro
Tinted so i dont have white cast but the tint is for medium skin tone
This is my first product from drunk elephant and im pretty sure i wont buy other products from them anymore because i dont think their product is made for me. Too bad because i was so excited when i ordered this product.

I actually see such a difference with this product that I won’t go outside without it. Pretty color, does not settle into lines, absorbs quickly, gives a beautiful glow, broken capillary on my nose does not show and is less red than it was. I wear it as my foundation. Best Product Award from me.

I don’t hate this sunscreen but I won’t be repurchasing for a couple of reasons. I’m pale and on the rosy side. I wanted a broad spectrum physical sunscreen. This is that. The formula seems pretty emollient which i did not hate as I am on the dry side. I think I would hate this if I skewed towards oily. It does not feel heavy. The tint covers the white haze but I didn’t like the reflective particles and in some light it made me look slightly congested which wasn’t my skin. It was the product.
It did seem to play well with foundations and I had decent results with this under Armani Silk and also the Ordinary serum Foundation and also Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.
I did not like it as a stand alone on my bare skin. Adding powder to counter the slickness seemed to cake it up. I’m pretty pale and rosy and on deeper toned skin my issues( a somewhat dirty looking haze) probably would not be an issue. Also if you wanted that glowy look and your skin is younger than mine it may not bug you. But for these reasons , I won’t be repurchasing.

I’d like to start off this review by stating that this is an outstanding sunscreen, considering it does not contain silicones. It’s considerably rare to find a good silicone-free sunscreen nowadays, and this one ticks all the boxes I would want in a sunscreen, however I do have some problems with it.
The texture of this sunscreen is sticky upon application, which makes it go stringy if it’s not warmed up in your fingers. However, thankfully, it does not stay sticky / tacky; it sets to a non-sticky smooth-feeling finish, which has a beautiful glow. But the glow it gives isn’t desirable if you have active acne, or texture – it does noticeably make those skin issues more prominent, which I’m not a fan of.
The scent of this sunscreen smells exactly like Hama Beads, and I dislike it so much! I’m glad it’s fragrance-free, but this Hama Beads smell is just so off-putting; I’m just so glad it doesn’t linger, and stays around for less than a few minutes.
The tint of this sunscreen is okay, but it’s not the best; sometimes it makes my skin look dirty? And sometimes there will be small streaks of brown, which I highly dislike. I’m guessing it would be more desirable for medium – tan skins, rather than fair and deep skin tones.
Overall, I would not recommend this sunscreen, and I highly doubt I will ever repurchase it; I regret purchasing it, in fact. I’d recommend this to people who cannot tolerate silicones, but for people who can tolerate silicones, I don’t suggest this. There are much better options of sunscreen out there, some examples being Paula’s Choices matte SPF30 sunscreen, which is miles better than this sunscreen in its scent, texture, finish and tint.
