Review: Just what others experienced, very sticky, heavy, uncomfortable, leaves a bit of white tint on my skin although it’s tinted. Eyes do sting if applied on eye lids. Not recommended at all!!

This is a review for the ThinkSport white tube.
I originally bought this as an everyday sunscreen that I would use on my face, and all parts of my uncovered body. I was originally attracted to the brand due to the price, and the favorable reviews on Amazon. Although the reviews suggested otherwise, this sunscreen left a white, powdery residue on my skin, and while it provided moderate protection when used properly, it was not suitable to use on my face everyday because of the residue, and how thick and uncomfortable it felt on the skin.

This is a review for Thinksport SPF 50 in the white tube.
I’ve tried 4 physical sunscreens so far and I’m not sure if I’ll be buying this again or not. Its ok for my arms when I’m outside but I don’t feel ok wearing this in public on my face. Its beyond greasy and there’s no chance of looking normal with this on. I don’t have oily skin either. Also avoid wearing or touching any dark colored clothing with this stuff on because it causes white greasy marks on everything.

This is for the black/white/red tube. This is my HG physical sunscreen. I’ve tried so many sunscreens and this one works very well with makeup and has 20% zinc oxide. When I first opened it I swore there was noway I was going to like it bc it looks very thick and white but after I applied if I was shocked that it was total opposite. I find it moisturizing and although it leaves a slight cast initially it blends in and eventually fades. Does not ball up nor make my makeup feel cakey. For $12 you cannot go wrong with this. I find zinc to be very good protection. I have tanned through other filters but never zinc.

**Edited 9/2017 I’ve found an SPF that is just as moisturizing but without the creamsicle scent: Burnout Family (orange tube, blue letters). However, this one is labeled SPF 50 and the Burnout is SPF 30. I plan to use the Thinksport on beach/lake/outdoorsy days but the Burnout for everyday.
Been looking for a water-resistant physical sunscreen to use at the pool this summer (I wear a rashguard and hat, but my legs, hands, and face are exposed). When you first apply it, it’s scary white, but once you rub it in, it has MUCH less of a white cast than I thought it would, being 20% zinc. Less white cast on me than Blue Lizard Baby, Vanicream 50, etc. It’s very creamy/lotiony and goes on smoothly. It smells like a creamsicle, which is kind of annoying to me.
This is NOT a sunscreen for oily skin, and not mattifying. I probably won’t use it on my face. 30 minutes after applying to my arms, I’m still feeling a bit of an oiliness. After an hour or so, it sinks in better, and the smell dissipates about 80%. It’s not tacky or thick, just similar to a light body oil in feel. Part of the reason it’s not drying down completely is probably my climate; I live in the US Southeast and we have really humid summers. I expect this will make a wonderful winter ss though. I can’t comment yet on the water resistance (they claim 80 minutes).
The formula did not break me out or cause any stinging or irritation. It is a bit drying after you remove it, but that’s to be expected with 20% zinc.
The last ingredient is Grapefruit Essential Oil which is slightly phototoxic. But I’m reading that it takes 24 drops of the EO per ounce of carrier to be phototoxic so we may be ok here. I’ve emailed the company to ask about it, and after several attempts they confirmed that yes, it is essential oil and that they have no plans to make a fragrance free version.

I love this sunscreen. Yes it makes me look pale. But, I play golf and am in the sun for hours and this lasts long and keeps my skin beautiful. I DO NOT want products with nano particles and this sunscreen advertises that it does not contain nano particles and it’s a fabulous rare find. I am willing to make little sacrifices to support a great sunscreen.

My local running store used to sell this sunscreen exclusively and I trust the products they sell so I picked up a bottle. I had high hopes for this mineral sunscreen because of it’s great ingredients and high SPF. The formulation is nice and the white cast disappears once you rub it in, but I really hate the orange smell. I probably won’t repurchase because I went running with this on my legs and arms and, once I started sweating, I could see that my sweat was white instead of clear. It made my whole body look chalky. Not fun, but I’ve never worn a physical sunscreen anywhere but on my face, so this may be pretty typical. Also, this sunscreen started separating (i.e., going bad) pretty quickly. It makes sense because it doesn’t contain preservatives, but if you buy this, I would either use it up quickly or keep it in the fridge.

I really did not like this sunscreen which is a total shame because it has such great ingredients compared to most sunscreens. But man, this just did not cut it.
I used it on my face and body and it turned me oily and shiny. There’s a whitecast but I’m super pale as it is so that didn’t bother me.
I also hate the scent. I didn’t want a sunscreen with the usual sunscreen-y smell, but this was just bad. It smelled like rust and I honestly preferred the usual sunscreen smell to this after applying it, lol.
I also found it hard to rub in and I felt like it didn’t really help protect my skin against the sun. I followed the directions and still turned red. Would not repurchase.
This would probably work well for others, but it definitely didn’t for me.

I don’t know why this sunscreen is never mentioned around here! I love the ingredients. I’ve gone through about 4 tubes of these so far. This is a physical sunscreen, with only zinc oxide, one of the reasons I was initially drawn to this sunscreen as zinc oxide seems to be the only filter my skin can tolerate (even titanium dioxide irritates my skin, if in big enough quantities). Very high % of zinc oxide (20%), definitely enough to cover your bases.
The consistency is quite smooth; although it seems to go on quite thick, it blends out & rubs in easily. It does give a slight white cast, which is typical of physical sunscreens (I think if you are using a physical sunscreen and don’t see any white cast, you aren’t applying enough). I’m fair enough (~NW10?) that it does not bother me, but darker skintones might have problems.
The finish is rather on the oily side, I definitely always put at least a little translucent powder over this to mattify. It works just fine under makeup; actually I think it makes my makeup look a little bit better, because it slightly moisturizes my face and makes my foundation less dry-looking. The primers & foundations I’ve used with this are all silicone-based, not sure how it’ll do with oil-based foundations.
Also I think the packaging has changed, it looks the same (yellow and black tube) but now says SPF 50+, not 30+. The ingredients look the same though. Ingredients at the time of writing are:

I also used to use the Thinkbaby Livestrong version (in orange & white tube). The ingredients list are pretty much identical except for the very last ingredient, and the only difference I could tell in actual usage is the fragrance (Thinkbaby smells quite strongly of coconut? too strongly for my taste actually. Thinksport is mildly citrusy? I’d prefer unscented, but I guess I can’t have it all)
Overall, yes I will continue to repurchase. For me it is perfect in every way except one, which is that it’s a bit on the oily side for my face. It’s the strongest physical sunscreen I’ve found that is cruelty free, doesn’t irritate, break out, OR dry out my skin. I personally found it cheapest on Amazon ($11~14, including shipping).

Really like this sunscreen. Rubs in, love the ingredients, and don’t burn through. Bought this on a whim because I like Burnout but it is not readily avaialbe to me. This is as good or better.
