I’m debating between giving this an average rating or lower. The first time I put this on I was immediately disheartened to see that it had a similar consistency to one of the WORST sunscreens I have ever tried: LA Roche Posey face and body Anthelios dermo-kids gentle lotion spf 60. It’s heavier, thicker, stickier, and less spreadable than a lotion consistency. But it’s easy enough to rub in, and you HAVE to rub it in, let it chill for a couple minutes, and then rub some more. That is if you want to avoid looking like you have smeared oily sheer white-purple goop all over your face. If you rub it in that second time, the finish is still creamy because this sunscreen doesn’t absorb or set, but you get a wearable creamy transparent finish that doesn’t look oily. It only looked white around my nose, and im an NC 42 skintone. Still the texture doesn’t allow for makeup application unless you have very dry skin that sucks it up, or carefully stipple on makeup.
That said this made my face itchy for some reason, and soon after application I got welts around my nose. Needless to say I will NOT use it again. I haven’t had one good experience with all physical sunscreens. This is it for me. From now on I’m sticking to chemical or combination susncreens, and I’m considering stopping all sunscreens to see if I can stop my acne, but that would be a last resort.
Also this was insanely hard to remove. I applied this in the morning, and I attempted to remove it with the strongest water soluble cleanser I have (its marketed as makeup remover and cleanser) and I still had sunscreen on all over my face when I rinsed, specially around the eyes. I went in with albolene and cotton squares around my eyes and nose, and then washed again but with a gentler water soluble cleanser, which got most of it off. WTH!
What a bad experience :/ If you want to experiment with this get thyself an oil cleanser or long wearing makeup remover to pre cleanse, and follow with another cleanser. I will not repurchase, and I hesitate to reccomend because I got an allergic reaction, plus it’s so hard to remove. Would only suggest to people with dry skin that have had good luck in the past with mineral susncreen.

My esthitician recommended this sunscreen to me after I had IPL. I couldn’t find any existing reviews on this so I thought this might be helpful to someone. It’s a physical sunscreen with zinc oxide and titanium. I’ve noticed that dermatologists strongly advocate physical suns reen these days. This product sort of applies in an odd glob of a streak but then quickly spreads when I rub it in. It does leave a white cast due to the physical sunscreen products but it doesn’t seem to show up after I have makeup on. I have always had a hard time with sunscreens burning my eyes; no burning at all with this one. I use it on my face, neck, decolletage and arms/hands. I purchased it at walgreens. I could not find the spf 30, that one is probably also excellent and might leave less white cast I am not sure. This stuff is very reasonably priced for the quality you get. No annoying scent.
I am really an advocate of sunscreen. I lost a family member to skin cancer. From a beauty standpoint, it is absolutely the best anti-aging product that exists!

Fantastic sunscreen! This is what I use when I know I’ll be out in the sun for a long time, like the beach, pool, festival etc. I’m on Retin A and have to be so diligent about sunscreen but I always had problems finding the right one since my skin is so sensitive and easily clog prone.
This doesn’t irritate my face or sting, doesn’t break me out and does its job perfectly. Awesome stuff!

I would run from this sunscreen. It left major white messes on my nylon & leather purse, even after the sunscreen had been on my body a couple hours. The shoemaker said it’ll take at least a week of soaking in special solution to maybe get the sunscreen out of the fabric. In an ongoing search to find a somewhat moisturizing physical sunblock, I tried this on face and body. Might be okay on face if you don’t rub your face on anything. It was slightly moisturizing, at least more than the usual zinc/titanium dioxide sunblocks, and the spf is high (a good thing). The winners so far seem to be Bare Minerals spf 50 sunblock/primer and Obagi spf 32. For body, I’m using Cotz – high spf, not moisturizing, high % of the right ingredients and does not bleed onto anything.

A new friend of mine who has the most gorgeous skin ever and who has lived in Arizona all her life recommended this sunscreen to me about a year ago. It has quickly become my favorite facial sunscreen of ALL TIME! It’s amazing. I have mild rosacea which also affects my eyes and my eyes are very sensitive to many sunscreens so I need to be careful about what I use. Vanicream is perfect, offering great UVA/UVB coverage with no irritation! No burning of the eyes, yay! It’s the perfect consistency to give me daily moisture and sunscreen coverage at once. It may be a bit thick for some people but here in AZ I need the extra moisture (even though in more humid environments I tend to have oily skin). What I do to help it spread easily is first apply a daily sunscreen lotion called Enrich by Trader Joe’s (looks like a oil of olay bottle) and then right after, I apply my Vanicream. Every day without fail. Gotta combat all of the UV damage here in the sunny desert. There is a light cast of white from it but since i follow it up with either liquid foundation (most days) or a powder foundation, it’s not an issue for me. Well worth the superior coverage from this sunscreen. Also, I believe it was developed and is made by the Mayo Clinic and is intentionally free of harmful ingredients.

Like some of the other reviewers, I have mixed feelings about this sunscreen.
Pros:
It WORKS. No sun or freckles whatsoever when using this.
It’s tenacious. Even a scrubbing with body wash/shampoo doesn’t get all of it off.
It’s not pricey, compared to some of the other brands
No funky ingredients, rated well on EWG if that’s your thing
No fragrance or scent at all
Not drying, doesn’t bother my sensitive skin at all!
Cons:
It’s tenacious–can’t get it off at the end of the day
Also rubs off on things (car handles, purse, etc) and leaves a white film. VERY annoying.
Not cosmetically elegant–waxy feeling on the skin and has a white cast.
Not too fun to apply, consistency a little thicker than Elmer’s glue; would prefer a lotion consistency.
Takes a while to dry down.
I’d definitely call this product a “workhorse.” For a day out in the sun where you don’t care about appearances or it rubbing off on things, this stuff is perfect! After finishing the tube I bought, I’ll probably repurchase, but only use it for heavy-duty protection. I’m pretty picky about sunscreen finish, as I’m used to Asian sunscreens, so I probably won’t be using this every day (unless I can’t find a natural sunscreen I like better).

INSANE WHITE CAST. I should have expected it. I used the sunscreen on my face. I rubbed it in. I waited 20 minutes. I rubbed it more. I still look like I am wearing a white face mask and I’m N5. I can’t imagine how crazy it looks on someone paler than me.

I received this as a generous sample from my dermatologist’s office and I have mixed feeling about it.
First of all, this won’t clog pores. I’m extremely acne-prone, but this sunscreen never caused me any problems. No ingredient from its composition is suspected to cause acne, which is a major issue for many people with sensitive skin.
There are some good ingredients in this cream, most notably the coenzyme Q10, which produces biological energy inside the cells and an antioxidant. It is quite unexpected seeing such a high-end ingredient in this affordable product, even if it is included probably in small quantity. Second squalane is one of the best skin repairing ingredients and antioxidant. Always a bonus, this is a paraben-free product.
However the good points aside, this sunscreen made me very itchy. This reaction worsened when I used under foundation. It may be noted that I have very sensitive skin. And yes, it did leave a slight white residue, but this wasn’t an issue for me, as I can work around it.
This wasn’t for me, but it may be a good product for someone with less sensitive skin.

Couldn’t get this to work for me. Maybe the dimethicone? It did provide good sun protection but made my skin flaky and sensitive. There’s definitely a white cast and I am quite fair. Trying a non-drying Japanese SS next.

This is an excellent sunscreen for the face. I use it every day. Since I have been using it I have not gotten any colour at all and my skin tone and texture is much improved. It is a very thick cream that takes awhile to sink in. When I first started using it I broke out a little but the breakouts quickly stopped. I usually wear no makeup so this works well for me, might not work if you do wear makeup, it leaves a bit of a white cast.
