I bought this lotion in tube; no bottle available in SPF50 for body. I thought I would like this because I have the facial lotion but no—it has that awful fake coconut smell. What a disappointment.

Since I have been suffering from cystic acne about a year ago, I have tried numerous products and I had to rely on all the reviews people wrote in order to pick products to try, so I am super thankful for all the reviews people wrote and for the people who took the time to wrote them. THANK YOU. I thought I’d do the same. Because of the cystic acne, my dermatologist put me on tretinoin. Truth to be told, I didn’t flake nor did I get sunburn, but I was told repeatedly that I had to wear a sunscreen. I tried close to 10 different ones … ALL of them except 2 broke me out either in small pimples or developed more cysts. This one was no exception. This sunscreen smelled amazing, was very easily spread over my face. no white cast, and for the 1st week, I REALLY REALLY LOVED it, it seemed to control my oil production, and it gave my face this smooth yet matte look that I hadn’t seen since the beginning of my outbreak. HOWEVER …. drumroll please…. 2 weeks later, I started having boils popping up all over my face where I normally wouldn’t get cysts anyways. I stopped, and the boils/painful cysts went away after 2 weeks or so (with the help of antibiotics and aczone of course). I waited 3 weeks, and tried again, SAME THING. needless to say, I will only now use this on my body. works great on my arms and legs. a couple days ago, I found a small travel container that I had put some of this sunscreen in from two months ago, as I was washing out the container (was planning on using it to store something else for my upcoming trip), I shockingly discovered that the sunscreen had turned into this glue like substance, where half of it was now exactly like clear glue, and the other half was just white oily mess, and it was extremely hard to wash out, I used a toothbrush, and still couldn’t get all the sticky things out of the container, so finally I threw the container out….. I was horrified that I had put this on my skin, and no wonder I was having such awful breakouts….STAY AWAY.

The only sunscreen I will ever use on my body again spf 30 and 50 lotion is fantastic! My sensitive break out prone skin likes this , no reactions and feels moisturizing not greasy and smells delicious. Spreads nicely too. My HG. FYI: I’ve tried the spf 50 spray and it was very greasy. Lotion is the way to go!

This stuff is amazing. If you are a child of the 1980s, this smell will be so nostalgic for you – banana/coconut like old-school Hawaiian Tropic and Tropical Blend sunscreens. I use both the spray and the lotion versions of this stuff and like them both. The lotion is creamy and light, the spray is a little tacky but still very emollient and both versions work well. A broad array of sun protection choices from SPF15 to SPF70, lots of different versions (there is an all-mineral spray with the same great scent as well as unscented mineral options). Love the hair products too. I first purchased for the scent, but stayed for the nice formulations.

This review is for a recently purchased tube of Sun Bum “Premium Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion” with SPF 50. This chemical-based sunscreen has *no oxybenzone*, but I have also seen Sun Bum sunscreens with oxybenzone (the ones in the bottles appear to have oxybenzone). Also, Sun Bum’s website shows all of its chemical-based sunscreen products as having oxybenzone in the description of their ingredients. So I don’t know if what I have is a recently reformulated version (the tube shows that it expires 5/19). I have uploaded a picture of the tube of sunscreen that I purchased, which also shows that it has no oxybenzone.
I have used European sunscreens as well as Japanese sunscreens, both of which do a better job with providing more protection than American sunscreens; however, the Euro and Japanese sunscreens also cost more. So for now, I have decided to go back to using American sunscreens with the focus on using chemical-based sunscreens without oxybenzone. I know that there are mixed views about oxybenzone, but I have decided to switch to chemical-based sunscreens that do not contain oxybenzone. In the US, however, there are not that many sunscreen options that are oxybenzone-free so I am always thrilled when I come across one that I can try. Other chemical-based oxybenzone free sunscreens that I have tried lately and liked are: the Ocean Potion Protect and Nourish SPF 50 (this takes a lot longer to absorb and dries to a shinier finish but love that it is cruelty free and has a reasonable price); Banana Boat Dry Balance SPF 50 (dries to a soft matte finish) and Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Weightless SPF 30 (love that it comes in an airless pump but it is on the moisturizing side).
Active ingredients are listed as: Avobenzone 3%, homosalate 10%, octisalate 5%, and octocrylene 10%.
The print on the tube of this sunscreen makes the following claims:(1) it is broad spectrum; (2) UVA/UVB protection with Parsol 1789; (3) Water resistant (80 minutes); (4) Gluten free and vegan; (5) antioxidant rich (vitamin E); (6) Dermatologist tested; (7) paraben free; (8) oxybenzone free; (9) oil/PABA free; (10) retinyl palmitate free; (11) cruelty free; (12) non-comedogenic; (13) hypoallergenic.
So based on the above claims, there are many things to like about this sunscreen. In terms of texture, I find the sunscreen lotion not thick, not greasy, and easy to spread. It also absorbs relatively quickly and dries to a satin finish. It makes my combo skin feel smooth and soft. It does have a scent – a combination of banana and coconut. Generally, I like banana and coconut scents, but for some reason, I don’t like this lotion’s particular scent formulation; however, the scent is not overpowering so I can deal with it.
I purchased this tube at Target for $14.99, but the tag on the shelf indicates that the price used to be somewhere in the $15 range (either $15.99 or $15.59). It contains 6 fl oz (177 mL). So price-wise, it’s not on the cheap side, but I can stomach the price given the fact that it has a lot of positive attributes.

This would deserve top marks just as a lotion! It goes on like a dream, leaves a nice finish to the skin, seems to lesson my patches of KP slightly, and it smells freakin’ amazing! Lovely banana/coconut mix that lingers for awhile, though it’s not at all overwhelming. I actually wish it lasted longer. I’d buy this scent in perfume form if they’d make it! The SPF is the icing on the cake????

I have always had trouble finding a sunscreen that did not feel to greasy on the skin and smelled nice. I finally found it with this sunscreen; the coconut smell is mild and fades with time and it does not feel greasy; it makes your skin feel smooth and hydrated. Best of all, it does not make my skin have that purple or white tinge that other sunscreens with spf 30 or above tend to give me. The price is a little higher than other sunscreens but I think this is worth it!

I was hesitant to buy this since I do not tend to lay around outside in the sun and in previous years, bottles of sunscreen I’ve purchased have virtually been left completely full because I rarely have needed them ( I’m super pale, burn easy, and no – not a vampire!) this I’ve made an exception for and have been putting it on anytime I’m going out in the sun – even if it’s for a brief moment. This stuff is so bomb! It’s moisturizing to the max, I haven’t had any skin issues since using it, it’s PARABEN FREE, and it smells freaking amazing! (Smells like banana candies and a little bit coconut – pure summer!) It’s also CRUELTY FREE. They also have a hair care line with the same delicious scent, and also adhering to the no parabens and no animal testing. I’ve yet to try the shampoo and conditioner which is currently taunting me from my bathroom to go and wash my hair, but the hair oil is great! So far, I am loving this line! I hope they come out with a regular body butter/lotion and shower gel because I’d snatch that up so fast. This product line is on the pricey side – but I’m okay with paying more for better ingredients and dat smell tho..

This is for the Sun Bum SPF 50 Moisturizing lotion.
I’ve been using this sunscreen consistently for over 3 years now (I don’t exactly remember when I started using it, but it’s been a while). I keep trying other sunscreens because I do have oily skin and would like something more oil controlling, and something with more antioxidants would eb great to. But! I keep coming back to this. It doesn’t feel sticky, blends into the skin easily, and doesn’t leave my skin ashy (no physical sunscreen in here! Yay for all brown people!).
It was a coconut scent, so if you’re sensitive to perfume, steer clear. If you’re prone to breakouts and clogged pores like me though, give this a shot. This is one of very few susncreens I’ve found that doesn’t clog my pores. I use this on my face which makes it very cost effective. You need to apply an ample amount of sunscreen for it to work as desired so I don’t like splurging on sunscreen. With 8 ounces, this lasts for over 6 months!

I have the SPF 30 bottle. Nice coconut and banana scent that lightly lingers and it has a non-greasy consistency. It does a good job of protecting my skin and I can use it all over. I particularly like it for my arms and legs. It is a bit pricey than drugstore, but worth it. I adore the packaging too.
