   This review is for Ducray Melascreen UV Light Cream/Dry Touch. I had high hopes for this as the protection is great and the ingredients looked good for me. I am extremely clog and dermititis prone, so I have to read ingredient lists very carefully. My skin is fair, dry, and a bit sensitive though not overly so. I prioritize ingredients and protection (specifically UVA), followed by elegance. Unfortunately, this has a white cast that is too much for even my fair skin – it is especially bad near the corners of my mouth, where I have some flakes, in the lines around my eyes, and at my eyebrows and hair line. Definitely not appropriate for wearing to work, though I might try to use the bottle up over the weekends. I wonder if people who find the white cast bearable are wearing enough; I always apply 1/4 teaspoon (4 to 5 pumps for this sunscreen) and don’t rub, as that defeats the purpose. I do have a lot of pink in my skin, so perhaps people who are even more fair might have better luck than I. ***

   Unfortunately, I also find that this stings/burns for about an hour or so after application. This is absolutely unacceptable for me as stinging is a sign of irritation. ***

   Additionally, while I like the packaging in theory, I have a difficult time getting the pump to work. It pumps air more often than not, even though it is close to new. ***

   Alas, the search for HG sunscreen continues.

   I like this. It’s hard to find a perfect non drying, high PPD sunscreen. The PPD has to be at last 16+, because of the UVA sign. The website has the old ingredients, but it’s been reformulated and now has avobenzone, but is stabilized by Tinsorb S and Tinsorb M, which are excellent filters and cover the full spectrum. It’s water resistant, unscented and free of alcohol, silicone and oil. It comes in a cute but small tube with a pump. It goes on quite thick and has some white cast at first . But it dries down quite well. Not greasy or shiny and breaths, but it’s not like nothing on the skin. For a moisturizing sunscreen it’s one of the most wearble. Works well under makup for me. Probably best for dry skined, pale types.

   Avobenzone can be destabilized by minerals and iron oxides found in makeup, but more and more the minerals are coated. It seems to work and I wear makeup. It’s supposed to be good for dark spots and seems to work well. I have tried a lot of European sunscreens, Japanse sunscreens , always avoiding alcohol or anything too matte or “ultra” or “dry”. This is is the best I have found.

   My skin: NC35-40. Combo-oily, sensitive (among others, my skin takes the habit of breaking out in hives when it doesn’t like something I eat or put on my skin), SD/PD-prone. OSPW. Fitzpatrick IV. Freckles and PIH from hives.

   I’d been wanting to try this since what I thought is my HG European sunscreen apparently was the culprit to clogging and since I use Retin-A, I want to find the ss with highest protection I can wear. I have already found a staple ss, but it’s non-water/sweat/sebum-resistant and has low UVA protection (Japanese Nivea gel).

   I ended up testing it for only a few days since my horrible experience started from day one.

   The first time I used it, it felt like there were 3 people hitting my skin with rubber band finger guns constantly for the first 5 minutes. It dissipated, but the whitecast won’t. I arrived at work (around 40 minutes after application at home) with pasty face. It finally dissipated around lunch time. Way too long. Even then, I still need to rub the white ring around my hairline.

   I persisted with it, even though my SO points out every morning how white my face looks. Until one day when I was having my morning coffee with my colleague, she pointed out some white streaks and pilling around my hairline and jawline. Now, I don’t usually get panic for stuff like that and I hang out quite often with her so I’m comfortable with her. But I was hoping nobody would notice. Too much wishful thinking.

   It is now in the hand of a nice lady in Colorado. I hope it fares well for her.

   After all the sunscreens i try ( the most recommended on MUA like Replenix , Skinceuticals , ELTA , LRP , Bioderma , Avene , Japanese ones , Chanel SPF50 , Clarins , Shiseido and so many others) as i always wear everyday and at least SPF40 this sunscreen absolutely is my HG.
   I choose to use the LIGHT / LIGERE version as i hate greasy face even my skin is dry . I m on Retin-A and AHA years now and my skin is clear but can be very dry in winter especially around my mouth. Most of the time i have problems applying make up because of that.
   Apart from this problem my skin can also broke out easy even it’s most of the time clear.
   Then was the make up after sunscreen. Very rare to look nice. The only two sunscreens i find to be nice under make up were Chanel SPF50 that was way to $$ AND they change the formula as well as Replenix which was kind of drying for me and hated the fact that is spray and have to apply on my hand first.
   All others i try were either greasy , white cast , drying or broke me out .
   I apply after moisturiser ( only in winter , other than that i use only the sunscreen ) wait few minutes and apply mineral make up on top or sometime foundation. Any make up looks good on top of this anyway. Sinks really fast and make my skin very soft as well. There is white cast only for few seconds ones applying and then completely gone. My skin is not greasy or shiny. And of course the more important thing … No breakouts or any reaction from it.

   I really LOVE this and will definitely repurchase. I m not sure how much cost in pharmacy but i buy from Ebay from a seller in Poland that ship for free worldwide and pay £13 in total for the item which is not much really as the tube last at least 2 months applying generously everyday.
