   The color of this is pretty bad. I have light warm yellow-olive skin, NC20 in MAC. I somehow didn’t notice that this was tinted before I came home and went to apply it. This is not “tinted” – this is colored! It has a heavier coverage than many of my foundations. Maybe that would be OK if the color suited me, but this has one single shade, and it is orange and about 2-3 shades too dark for me. I tan orange, but I’m pretty sure that even on my tannest days this would still be way too orange. Whoever says this leaves a “white cast” are clearly reviewing a different product – maybe there’s a non-tinted version of this in a similar tube.

   Just like we can’t use foundation as sunscreen and get the advertized SPF (because we would need to use so much that it wouldn’t look good), this cannot be applied in appropriate amounts without looking like a heavy orange foundation. How would you be able to apply 2-3 pumps of this and not look ridiculous? That is what ruins this for me, even though I like that this didn’t break out my sensitive skin, and has no fragrance, and doesn’t sting my eyes. I can’t wear this because of the color – I then need to find a VERY white sunscreen to mix this with

   One of the most mattifying sunscreens I’ve tried. It’s a light yellow coloured cream, unscented, and once dry leaves not even a hint of sheen. It starts to dry very quickly once out of the tube, however, so you need to be quick about spreading it over the face to cover skin evenly. Otherwise it can look patchy, with poorly blended areas looking a little pale and pilling on the skin. As it dries down so matte, you can’t really redistribute the product around on once set. It functions nicely as a mattifying primer under make-up, or if blended well, looks alright on its own. It is more suitable for oily to combination skin, those with drier skin types may find this difficult to wear.

   It doesn’t really do anything in terms of oil control – I do still need to use blotting papers periodically, but it certainly doesn’t contribute to shine or accelerate the appearance of shiny face over the course of the day. I used to use this a lot in my early 20s, but as I’m getting older my skin now tends towards being dehydrated as well as oily and so I need more moisturising products these days. This is still useful for very hot and humid conditions on holiday, when I need something longer lasting & more resistant to sweat, but as an everyday thing it is too drying for me now.

   Disappointed with this sunscreen, i have darker skin and when I wear this, if any of it gets disturbed on my face, it pills like no other and it does leave a white cast. The plus is that it doesn’t break me out and the high SPF is excellent, but I have purchased cheaper, more lightweight (this does not feel ‘dry touch’ on my skin anyway) and still the same SPF and efficacy and will not repurchase. Would caution use for medium to darker skin tones as the pilling is very, very obvious. I had high hopes as i love the packaging and I have used a fluid anthelios product which was great, but this one just didn’t work for me.

   It`s a fantastic sunscreen. It`s not oily or greasy AT ALL. It feels very light, and does not live a cast on me. Ingreadients are superb and very effective, I did not get a burn or tan. Also it is parfume free! Only down side is that it is quite expensive, and you only get 50ml :/

   This is one of the best sunscreens I have found for my rosacea-prone but oily combination skin. I need products which don’t aggravate my sensitive skin and don’t cause oily patches, and this is a winner on both counts. To begin with, it does look a bit white but it soon sinks in and isn’t noticeable. I then apply my Estee Lauder Double Wear liquid or powder foundation, and my skin stays looking matter for about four hours. I haven’t found any product which gives me a longer oil-free period, so this is a good rating for me. I control the oiliness with blotting papers, rather than pile on the powder, as this could clog my pores. I will definitely repurchase this sunscreen.

   I have melasma (dark splotches) that increase with sun exposure, so sunblock is very important to me. I used the Anthelios series some time ago but after they discontinued my favorite product and I found the others too greasy.
   For a long time I used Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence. I love the extremely light texture, almost as if you were putting water on your face. But it had some drawbacks: knowing that it’s efficacy decreased with contact to air, I had to keep reapplying throughout the day. Difficult and tiresome to do with a busy job.

   I convinced myself to try LaRoche Posay again because it was photostable (did not degrade in air), particularly when I saw this matte version. So I tried it…and hated it. It was a thick paste that made me feel like I was wearing a clay mask. But I kept using because, god damn it, I spent good money on it. And, funny thing, the more I used it, the more I liked it. I made my peace with the mask-like feeling, knowing it was my defense against the sun. The mask feeling went away within a few minutes anyway after applying it.

   It was indeed matte. I got a bit shiny at times (I have oily skin) but a bit of powder set it right. When many sunblocks are sticky oil slicks on my face, I find this sunblock a big improvement. It is also water-resistant, a big bonus since I sweat constantly in the hot, humid climate of Hong Kong. It can leave a bit of white on my skin; it’s just a matter of rubbing it in thoroughly. I needed a powerful sunblock to fight against the fierce subtropical sun, and this does the job.

   From reading about this product, I found out: The Anthelios series has some strong science behind it. It’s efficacy was shown in 16 clinical studies. It is photostable (doesn’t degrade when exposed to air). It has UVA, UVB and infrared protection. The UVA (which protects against skin aging) is extremely strong. It has a curious thing called Airlicium, developed by NASA to create a supple resistant but breathable film over the skin. The Airlicium has mattifying micro-particles that immediately absorb and control 3 times its weight in oil. It also has antioxidants to neutralize the harmful effects of free-radicals.

   I do not have sensitive skin, but the company says the formula is hypo-allergenic and contains no preservatives, no parabens, no colourants, no fragrance and no lanolin.

   This was recommended by my dermatologist as i was looking for a high spf sunscreen that is not oily. I used to have Clarins 50 spf it’s too oily for me.

   The texture is light. At few first uses it did manage to be not oily. But i found that using it in tropical city with high humidity as in Indonesia, the product is still makes my dry-oily combination skin oily. I do like the product so will keep on using until i have a better subs.

   Afte using Neutrogena Age Shield for some time, I decided to try this particular version of Anthelios. Here’s what I think:
   Pro’s
   – high, wide spectrum sun protection (note that sunscreens are not allowed to be marketed above 50+ in Europe)
   – gentle on my sensitive skin and does not sting the eyes
   – nice light texture
   – handy packaging
   – does not cause breakouts

   Con’s
   – leaves a white cast on skin (but most of it disapper when it sets, unless you put too much product)
   – not exactly completely anti-shine (though it does give LESS shine)
   – not cheap (especially outside of France). In France, a 50ml tube costs 13 euros. Neutrogena Age Shield, on the other hand, costs less and contains 88ml)

   Will repurchase!
