I have tried a lot of drugstore styling cream that are silicone free or not. I have high expectations because of how popular it is in social media. I have fine low porosity wavy hair and I thought most of the drugstore curly hair products are intented for thick tight curly hair. This was the only product I’ve ever used that was actually intended for wavy hair. The results was okay, kind of like a “meh”, because its so easily duped with other cheaper drugstore curl creams (NYM curltalk or Cantu activator). The Wave Maker is light, gives more volume, but it kind of elongated/streches my curl pattern. Dont know why people keep saying nothing compares it, because this product isnt that special for its expensive price.

I absolutely love this stuff. It does wonders for my 2C/3A wavy curls, and nothing else even comes close to comparing. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it for what you’re getting.

This is my first time using DevaCurl. I’m not sure if I’ll even get to see the end result because I’m about to wash it out. Honestly, the scent is so strong, my head started to pound almost immediately after applying it. Returning it tomorrow.

I have fine, wavy and short hair (anywhere from a longish pixie to a short bob, lately) and I love this.
The scent is mild (DevaCurl’s website says it’s passion flower and fruits, but it’s not terribly obvious what it might be to me, but it’s not leaving me in a cloud of fruity fake stink, so I’m happy).
Applied, it really feels like nothing at all (I hate obvious product that leaves my hair feeling sticky or crunchy), and it cuts frizz (most of it, anyways), and adds nice volume. It’s almost like it melts into my hair, which I love.
When I apply it to dry hair, itt stretches out my curl a bit, but gives some good shine and a bit of bounce. If I work out my hair will shrink a bit due to sweat but it resets and curls back up again nicely, without losing much volume. DevaCurl suggests applying it to wet or damp hair, and in those cases my hair waves nicely. The curl revives nicely, too, with a few spritzes of water.
I wish it was a bit cheaper or that they had a travel or purse size option (to carry along on the go), but I don’t need a lot, so it’s all good.

I loooove this!
I can’t tell you the last time I tried a new hair product that I loved, so this is a big deal. 🙂
Me: thin hair but a LOT of it, easily weighed down by products, high porosity, not in bad condition bc I only color twice a year and don’t use any heat styling tools, 2b waves that frizz or go straight
Started a modified version of the Curly Girl Method over a year ago, meaning I avoid sulfates and silicones and only wash my hair every 2 or 3 days. My hair seems healthier and there are more better hair days.
But THIS product has made the biggest change. After washing and conditioning my hair, I squeeze out the majority of water then use about a nickel-sized dollop to scrunch my hair and allow to air dry. This has never weighed down my hair, never gets crunchy at all. Instead, my natural waviness is enhanced, frizz is all but eliminated, I’ve got volume for days, and there is some serious hold going on here.
I have tried so many products that promised these results and nothing ever lived up to the claims. I really thought nothing like this existed for real.
The scent is fresh and pleasant and I don’t see it as overwhelming, but I’m not sensitive to fragrance. It’s on the pricey side but I use so little that it should last forever.
Highly recommend!!

I like it. It’s for wavy hair, but I use it anyway. When I blow my hair out, I like to add a little of this to it for hold, shine, and moisture. It has a nice light scent. You only need a small amount- I use a pea sized amount on each half of my hair and that is plenty.

This was part of the “Deva Curl Wavy Mini Transformation Kit” (containing Low-Poo Delight, One Condition Delight and Wave Maker).
I had high hopes for this product. My hair felt great after cleansing and conditioning. I used a very small amount of the Wave Maker, but it still weighed my fine hair down.
Additionally I can’t deal with the fragrance in all three products.
Therefore I would not buy it again.
However, I also purchased their Microfiber towel – it is great. It instantly removes almost all the water without making my hair frizzy.

I have fine, 2b wavy hair, which tends to be half defined waves and half dry, undefined frizz if I let it dry naturally. DevaCurl wave maker is HG for me – when air-drying it gives me consistent, smooth waves all over, with a bit of hold and a bit of extra volume. No frizz, doesn’t weigh down hair (unless you use too much), no crunchiness at all. No other product has managed this. I’ve tried Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It for fine hair, and it’s good, but Wave Maker brings out much bigger waves with far better hold that last overnight instead of being flat/inconsistent by morning. It’s not cheap but you only need a small amount so should last a long time (I use a large-pea-sized amount on my shoulder-length hair).

definitely is a product that’s either love it or hate it, but my hair hasn’t looked so good in years.

Wavy hair that is type 2 mid back and coloured. I like this as it creates/enhances waves but it is not crunchy. It is light but I don’t think it is truly a frizz fighter.
From the Deva Curl site.
Smooth a nickel-sized amount onto wet or damp waves and scrunch to encourage waves.
Scrunch waves all over with a DevaTowel then air dry or use the DevaFuser.
Once dry, tousle roots with fingers for extra volume.
I use twice the amount (if not more). I usually air dry. I like the Deva towels and my Deva salon does use them. But I like to use old long sleeve t-shirts.
