This stuff works well with my type 2b hair–it supports my waves and provides good hold but doesn’t feel crunchy. The scent is strong and fruity, but does dissipate. It’s a little drying, so I make sure to put in the OI oil I normally use before putting in the gel and scrunching. I try to use as little as I can get away with, and I spray it in my hands to apply, instead of spraying it directly on my hair. I also give my hair a break from it every few days to avoid it getting too dry. Overall, I’d recommend it for people with wavy hair looking for some wave shaping and frizz control, especially at this price.

This is more of a first impression review right now- if I don’t update it, then it means I still agree with this review.
I am really pleasantly surprised by this product. I wanted something to liven up my curls, but when I was perusing the hair care aisle every single product was labelled “Sleek”, “Straight”, “Flat”… Absolutely not what I wanted and I didn’t really want a mousse.
I was left with the Strictly Curls line which I tried years ago and felt lukewarm about or this product. In the past, I have not been a fan of Pantene- I just always felt like other lines were better. However that was years ago and I must say I am really impressed with this gel.
It really reminds me of another product by Garnier Fructis- called Curl Shape Defining Spray (a product I loved but can’t find anywhere where I live). It has a strong, volumizing yet flexible hold. I actually applied it to my hair almost completely dry and it did not make it crunchy. There was a hold but no crunch- very flexible like I said. Scent is pleasant and not overbearing in my opinion. Very cheap with a generous amount of product for what you pay. I don’t feel like it dried out my hair, but I don’t feel like it was nourishing either. Just neutral.
Overall I am really, really satisfied with this… A lot of gels and mousse have too strong of a hold- leaving the curls looking wet or shiny or they dont hold enough and my curls become frizzy and undefined. This is that perfect ground product I’ve been looking for. Very bouncy volume- I’m so in love.
Definitely give this a shot. If it helps, my hair is a 2c-3a.

This is a convenient way to gel your hair without overloading in any one spot. I don’t feel like any gel that claims to be “crunch-free” is truly crunch-free unless you continue to scrunch your hair until it’s dry. It holds curls and helps to define them and keep frizz under control but it also doesn’t make for soft feeling hair either. I actually prefer this spray gel to traditional gel and will continue to use it until I stumble upon something better, although I must admit I won’t be looking very hard as I am quite happy with this. Typical Pantene scent, very nice and not overpowering. Recommend for those looking to help define and hold their waves or curls.
