I have wavy hair and prefer a more natural, air-driedlook so I have tried every wave spray on the market (unless of course I can’t stand the smell of it – but that’s only a brand or two). This is my favorite so far, as it produces pretty waves and body without leaving my hair overly crunchy and stiff feeling. It also has a clean scent without that horrible cheap suntan lotion aroma that so many wave sprays have. If you have a bit of natural wave in your hair and want to maximize it, I recommend this product. You can spray your hair lightly, scrunch it with your hands, and let it dry without any more thought. What’s not to like?

Purchased this product when it was on sale on Hautelook. If I recall, it was $8 (I think normally it’s over $20). I purchased two, due to the great reviews. I have long, thick, layered, wavy hair. I normally use It’s a 10 to make my wavy hair more ringlet-like, but since I saw this product on sale, I thought I mind as well go for it and bought two.
The first time I used it, I evenly sprayed the product throughout my damp hair and let it air dry. At first, it felt nice, not sticky, but the scent wasn’t nice, kinda chemically. After my hair completely dried, my hair felt slightly crunchy and my scalp was starting to itch. When I looked in the mirror, it looked like I had bed head, there were parts that were wavy and some that looked stringy straight… Really weird.
The next day, I tried it again, but this time I decided to blow dry my hair after I sprayed it. Again, it was stringy looking, no volume and sticky, so I ended up putting it up in a bun.
Another negative is I started to break out around my forehead and jawline. Did not work for me, unfortunately.

My favorite beach spray. I spray it on and then air-dry, and get really nice beachy waves that aren’t heavy or too dry. Rated it 4/5 because the only thing I don’t like about it is the smell — it’s strong. Not bad, but definitely strong. I also have to spray quite a bit for it to work best. But it really works for the beach look, so I’ll keep using it.

I find that success using beach spray is heavily dependent on hair type. This one creates body, shape and texture for me without dryness or crunchiness, which I really like. It is the only one I tried that is neither drying nor heavy, and allows me get a great look when I air dry. In contrast, Bumble’s version is a more “authentic” ocean experience – salty, matte, ropy, a little dry etc. I like the Maui Wowie best for everyday, and use the Bumble for really beachy looks.
For me, the best way is to spray a lot (that’s important) on damp hair and air dry without brushing/combing. I also find that type of product works much better for layered hair. For reference, I have straight hair that is normal to fine, with a long layered cut. Overall, this is one of my favorite styling products.

I bought this because I have long, fine wavy hair and I love to wear it natural at times. I liked that it was made with more oils and less salt product. I’ve tried B&B beach spray and it was really drying to my hair, so I had high hopes this would be different.
It sprays on in a very fine mist that is even and has great coverage. What I don’t like about the application is it’s harder to get just the ends because it is such a fine mist, but that is nit picking really. When applied to wet hair it does give me soft, touchable waves that have very little frizz. However, if I apply it to my hair once it’s already dry it feels like I’ve sprayed hairspray on it; very dry and almost gunky feeling and I can’t wait to wash it out. I also don’t notice any of the waves coming back applied to already dry hair.
The scent is nice and not overpowering and while I like this product it isn’t something I will buy again once it runs out, mostly because it isn’t a product I reach for all the time and it is expensive. That being said, Of all the “beach wave” products out there that I’ve tried, I do like this one the best. I would recommend this if you want soft waves that are moisturized, but only if you apply it to your hair wet.

PROS:
Very volumizing — more than any other beach spray I’ve tried.
Moisturizes without weighing the hair down.
Nice smell that doesn’t overpower or compete with perfume.
CONS:
Turns my hair slightly too blond for some reason.
Made my cheeks break out after two uses!
Due to the breakouts, I will not be using this again. I’ve had problems with other hair products that contain oils, including the Sexy Hair beach spray with argan oil and a L’Oreal leave-in treatment. My cheeks RARELY break out but hair products are the one thing that unfortunately can give me issues in this area:-(

This is a great mist to use to create some body and texture to hair. It has a beachy, tropical, salty-ocean type of a smell. I rarely use styling products so sometimes I just use this on my skin instead, for the scent. It’s about $20, so it’s not cheap, but it’s worth it.

I wanted to try a surf spray for the beachy, messy look of my hair. This product delivers, but honestly , I haven´t tried any other surf spray like Bumble&Bumble for example. The reason why I choose this over other sprays is the fact, that it was reviewed as “not drying”. The last thing I need is a styling spray, that dries out my hair. And it is not drying at all, instead of the sea salt in it. It has light oils in it, but is far from greasy on your hair. The oils counteract the drying effect of the sea salt.
It smells like a beach holiday, truly. You are instantly reminded of beach, sea-water and sun.
It leaves wavy hair, but no perfect beach-hair. My hair is naturally something inbetween wavy and straight and I have fine hair, but much hair. The expectations should not be too high, because let´s not fool ourselves, any spray can never get you the same beach look as a curling iron can.But I hate any curling irons, because they eventually destroy the hair. So, this is the closest thing to a beach look I can archieve.
But it adds texture, gives a tousled look and you surely can get an undone look with this spray. It doesn´t last all day, but I refuse to use hairspray or something else to fix it.
Maybe for people with naturally more wavy or curly hair, this product can really go all the way to a perfect beach look.
