This is not an oil based product (like Argan’s or IC’s), it’s more like a watery sticky product as I call it. I was actually expecting a horrible product (since that was my experience with other drugstore hair protectant sprays – *cough* Got2B’s *cough*-). Well, I was pleasantly surprised, this dried immediately after applying, and it smelled heavenly; my iron glided well trough my hair (It’s and ION’s iron btw); it didn’t feel like it was adding to burning my hair, and after I finished my hair felt soft and light, not greasy and heavy. I have very thick hair like my mom’s, and it took me less time to iron my hair too, I love it! I styled mom’s hair yesterday with this and her hair looked shiny and phenomenal, she was very pleased with it!
The packaging is nice, it sprays a generous amount of product, but not heavily, it’s a fine spritz. It also has a button that secures the handle when is not going to be used. The price was $6, totally worth it.

I am not a huge fan of this product and won’t buy it again. I find that it dispenses way too much product in one spray so I have to be careful. I only use it when I blow dry my hair and since the spray is so thick, I feel like I’m burning my hair when I use it with my flat iron. If I use this product, I use it before blow drying and then flat iron my hair without adding any extra product. I find that my ends look fried when using product which seems opposite at to what it is supposed to do! If I flat iron my hair without using any of this product before blow drying, my hair looks beautiful from root to tip so I have a sneaky suspicion this stuff is ruining my hair. For reference, I have baby fine, curly blonde hair that is actually pretty thick naturally.

I am always happy with John Frieda products. I’ll be honest and say I don’t use this every time i blowdry my hair or heat style it. But when I do use it I know my hair is being protected and nourished becuase of this. It has a lovely smell. Be cautious to spray far enough from your hair, I’ve drenched my hair one time because I sprayed too closely. I would want to try a different brand after my current bottle but I will definitely repurchase in the future.
