I wanted to try a sample of this based on the great reviews. I have long straight, thick hair that is pretty easy to manage. I didn’t find that this did anything amazing for my hair when compared to other hair oils – Morrocan oil, Tres Semme, Shu Uemera, etc. Also, the scent is really nothing to write home about. It smells pretty basic IMO. Nothing I would pay $50 for…

As I have black coloured thick wavy dry hair this is an elixir for me. On the other hand my sister with non coloured, thin, oily hair find this a big dissaster!
Its perfect for my type of hair, I use it since 2012 and there are many empty bottles of it. Make my hair bold with super curls, lovely shine and smells great. I combine it with Label M Curl cream on wet hair and get the best divine look for my hairstyle. My hair keep their super curls even after a good night sleep and it lasts till the next hairwash.

So just what exactly is Oleo Complex? In my opinion it’s L’Oreal (mother company of Kerastase) trying to ride the coat tails of Olaplex. I really think this oil is a hyped up version of regular oils that will of course soften and calm crazy hair. What i don’t like about it is there is no lasting effect. It doesn’t repair, it just masks. Thats fine if thats what you want but for the money, I’ll pass. I know this review isn’t about Olaplex but I mention it because I do think that’s what Kerstase was trying to do, boost it’s so so product by including some silly name that sounds like Olaplex and will do what Olaplex #3 does. It doesn’t. Only Olaplex can actually mend hair structure for real.

A vast improvement on Macadamia, Morrocanoil and many other hair serums I’ve tried, most of which are very alcohol or silicone-heavy and contain too little of the ingredients that make a difference i.e Argan or other natural oils. Elixir Ultime also has silicones but some beneficial ingredients too, and somehow all put together in the right ratio – it works great for me, and zero oiliness or weighing my hair down. Just a small amount of this worked through my hair whether wet or dry really transforms the condition and makes my hair that much more manageable. I adore the coconut/sugary fragrance and the fact that you use so little of this product that it could easily last for ages. Is it a bit on the pricey side? Sure, but it’s definitely worth it. So many products come and go nowadays and replaced with an upgraded version or discontinued…this one has been around since 2010 in all its original glory so they must be doing something right. Right?

Honestly dont see what the fuss is all about with this product!! I have naturally dark brown, thick unruly curly heavily highlighted hair which I blow out and flat iron every day. I regulary use serum/smoothing type products ( salon & drugstore ) so I thought I’d give this highly rated & impressively reviewed product a shot. I have given this product many tries to impress; used 20% of my bottle over the course of the last 8 months…used it every way possible (after styling, on wet hair before styling, at night as a leave in, etc etc..) and it doesnt do a thing it claims to do for your hair. Was not impressed one single time with this overrated, overpriced product. Save your money & try Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum –it blows this one away and is half the price and does what it claims.

This stuff is liquid gold for hair. I only got a sample and it works so nicely. Its light on fine hair and a little goes a long way.

UGHH. This stuff. I used to be a person who only did drug store for her hair, and yet thanks to this guy, here we are.
First things first. The only good thing that I can say about the price is that you don’t need a lot of product at all – I have very thick, long hair and this lasts me at least half a year, with pretty consistent daily use. The packaging is simple, but sturdy and prevents excess product from coming out and spills, which is much appreciated when you consider the fact that this is $58.
Without a doubt, the most expensive hair product I own…but also the most effective. My hair gets dried out very easily, especially the ends. When I put this in damp hair after the shower at night and let it air-dry, my hair ends up silky and soft. In the mornings, if anything is looking a little dead or dry, I put a touch of this in. One pump is good for my entire head. It doesn’t leave your hands greasy, and it sinks in immediately. I have very breakout-prone skin, but this does not irritate it at all.
It smells AMAZING – whenever I go on dates, I always put a little in my hair.
Expensive? Yes. But it does everything that it says it will. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for something to smooth and hydrate your hair.

This is the conditioner in the tube. I felt compelled to review this item because it sucked so bad that no one else should waste their money on it. First, this is the thinnest conditioner I’ve ever used – it’s so thin that the minute you unscrew the cap, it flows out of the tube even without squeezing. This makes the tube the most ridiculous vessel for this conditioner (unless the intent is to make you fun out of it quickly, then it has done its job). Plus when the tube is wet, it’s very difficult to screw the cap on tightly, meaning the conditioner makes a mess all over the inside of the tube.
As for conditioning, this formula does NOTHING. It doesn’t detangle or smoothen or soften. All it does is make my hair limp. Shame on Kerastase for coming up with this crappy formula and charging a hefty sum for it!

I fu*kin hate Moroccan Oil and had to wait so long to buy this.
Moroccan oil has such yucky ingredients and barely contains any aargan oil, it’s five silicones before it even gets to aargan oil.Then the rest is fragrances and dyes to give it that amber “aargan oil” appearance. That great smell is actually a banned fragrance ingredient, a lice and scabies pesticide, that is linked to cancers! I am sick and pissed at how they market their products and push them at the salons, they are garage! It makes my hair so greasy and leaves so much residue that I have to use a clarify shampoo. I’ve been so disappointed with that brand.
Both start off with cyclomethicone, which evaporates when applied, which is the best silicone out there. It helps actual oils and nutrients go into the hair shaft.
Here is when they get different Kerastase has Dimethiconol another superb silicone compared to dimethicone (found in all drugstore serums) in Moroccan Oil, which I try and to avoid any product with “cone” at the end. It’s why M.O feels like thick serum and Kerastase feels like actually oil. I found this great website that breaks down all silicones scientifically.
In Kerastase the next four ingredients are all oil with good abilities to penetrate the hair cuticle. Corn germ oil, Aargan oil is actually the four ingredient,Camellia Kissi Seed oil (green tea oil), and Pracaxi oil.
Next ingredient is Linalool a colourless liquid with a soft, sweet odour. It occurs naturally in many essential oils, such as ho wood oil, tangerine, spearmint, rose, neroli, mandarin, lemon, lime, lavender, cypress, grapefruit, cinnamon, chamomile, palmarossa and ylang ylang. It’s an anti inflammatory and studies show it can reduced tumors and prevent cancer.
Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, the eighth ingredient is for fragrance but can cause skin reactions in people with sensitive skin.
The next ingredient is Limonene a chemical found in the peels of citrus fruits and in other plants. It is used to make medicine.In pharmaceuticals, limonene is added to help medicinal ointments and creams penetrate the skin or hair.
Tenth ingredient is Coumarin which occurs naturally in a wide variety of plants including tonka bean, lavender, lovage, yellow sweet clover, and woodruff.
Eleventh ingredient is Benzyl alcohol a neutral alcohol mostly used as preservative and has no effect on how hair looks and feels. It’s not a “good” fatty alcohol but not a drying alcohol found in hairsprays etc.
The last ingredient is perfume.
Bottom line is if you feel like all serums cause build up and do nothing its probably because they are all heavy silicones with maybe one or two, some none- oils. Don’t be charged 30+ dollars for something that is in every drugstore serums that cost a couple dollars to make. Kerastase has a huge following and loyal customers who know they are getting a high end products. I believe this is the best serum out there whether you do it for the shiney healthy appearance or to seal in moisture.
But if your one of those people who are anti silicones, alcohol, or fragrances. Then don’t be surprise if you pass on this ingredient list. I never understand how some people will be so anti silicone,alcohol, fragrances when its in some of the best hair products out there. But they use stuff like baking soda on their hair, which is so eroding on the hair cuticles, and drying. But hey to each their own… Just buy 100% natural oils like coco, coconut, avocado, and use that on your hair but for me they cause my to look like a 90’s grunge rocker, hard to wash out, and clog my drains. I’m all for green and natural products but some just don’t fit into my lifestyle, or applicable to my hair needs and concerns. What’s the point of any product or oil if you have to wash your hair more that twice…it negates the whole purpose.

I’ve been using kerastase elixir Ultime for years to detangle my long hair and it is hands down the best hair oil on the market. It leaves my hair shiny without being greasy or weighed down. I had extremely damaged ends and this oil made them look normal. The scent is amazing too.
A few months ago my hair stylist convinced me to chop 8 inches of hair off, getting rid of the damaged part. Now that my hair is really healthy I don’t need it to detangle my hair anymore but I don’t hesitate to use a smidgen of it if my ends feel dry.
Everyone should have a bottle of this in their arsenal, especially if they have damaged hair.

I have thick, wavy hair that has recently got very dry due to dying, lifestyle etc. I used Morroconoil in the past with ok results but I have been using this for a couple of weeks with honestly amazing results! I’m using quite a lot to be honest so guessing it might not last long but the condition was terrible so going strong for a while. I’m using 2 pumps after washing and towel drying and then a little as a finisher also. My hair is now light, glossy and sitting perfectly, complete change around in 2 weeks! Recommend for thick hair.
