this is very controversial product. for some it doesn’t work at all, for some it works miracles. i’m the last one.
I love this product. I use it overnight only because it has consistency of a tooth paste. I always put it under some small patch or a plaster, otherwise it gets wiped off. mainly I use it on deep nasty pimples. it either resolves the pimple or makes it appear faster and then I kill it off with Oxy 10% benzoyl peroxide. I used to have these nasty pimples for at least a week, now it takes me 2-3 days.
the only thing I hate about it is the price – 22 eur :/

I agree with both the good and bad reviews of this product. I really can’t decide about it having used it for over a year, on and off.
On some spots it is a miracle worker and on others it makes no difference at all. There’s no pattern to when it works and when it doesn’t.
I still use it as it doesn’t make my skin worse and seems quite soothing – and sometimes it is amazing. I tend to use other spot treatments first and layer this over the top at night. This works because of its consistency.
It is unlike any other spot cream I have tried and definitely works differently to others. It is a thick gloop with a mild tobacco smell. It never dries on the skin and stains bedding. It creates good cover over the skin so will stop spots from dirt and grease – great for overnight if you use an old pillowcase.
It’s not amazing, and is quite expensive. The pot I have will last me ages and I will continue to use it but doubt I will repurchase because it is unreliable. I’m looking forward to when it is finished though as it comes in a great little pot which would be great to reuse for storage (maybe earrings when travelling or something like that).

I read a lot of good reviews about this product so I decided to give it a try and I was very disappointed. It didn’t work at all in my case. I only like the smell.

I did not find this product as effective as I hoped it would be. The smell reeks of cigarettes. It stays very sticky on your face so I sometimes add bentonite clay to it. It’s quite unremarkable. It’s just something else in my arsenal that I use in tandem with other products because by itself it doesn’t do a great deal.

Can´t believe I haven´t reviewed this product yet as I have been using it for years!
Initially, I bought it because when I was younger, I had very clogged pores and the following underlying impurities and pimples on my chin. I also still suffer from hormonal breakouts, when I get sometimes tiny whiteheads or big red pimples. Lovely.
I somehow managed to calm down my skin with silver powder from mario badescu, but when I´m experimenting with creams, I still get clogged pores sometimes.
Enter pate grise. Not only saved the stuff my younger self from the bad red big pimples, that seem to last for weeks and leave a nasty scar. It also saves me now from the occasional spot.
Yes, it smells like an old diesel truck and looks scary with the greyish muddy colour and thick consistency.
But this stuff hasn´t survived for years on the market by not perfoming well. I don´t use any ! spot roll-ons or other stuff you can get at the drugstore since I had this. These other things didn´t help and dried out my skin.
But with the pate grise, all healed up very well. It accelerates the opening and healing process of any impurities. And it takes away the nasty red inflammations. So you don´t have to suffer 3 weeks, but only for a few days.
I usually put it on overnight and I am pleased with the results the following morning. Less redness, no more hurting and faster healing.

I’ve been suffering of acne for many years and searching for the best anti-blemish solution for as long. This is probably one of the worst products, if not even THE worst product I’ve ever tried. An SA recommended it to me. She raved about how the Pate Grise would diminish blemishes and help the skin to heal faster. It did none of that for me.
And not only has it not been working for me, it also has a disgusting, tobacco like smell and a terrible colour. It looks horrible on your skin during the day and if you use it at night your pillow gets nasty stains.
The only positive thing I can think of is that it comes in a really cute pot. That’s it.
Will never purchase again.

I don’t get a lot of spots but when I get spots they are usually large, sore, red and last a wee while before coming to a head. BP just doesn’t like my skin, and leaves it scabby, flaky and sore so when I found out about this product I had to have it.
And it was worth every penny because it does work.
It doesn’t draw the spot into a head for me, but it seems to shrink it over a couple of days. The only downside is that it’s brown and does get all over the pillowcase while you’re asleep. After a couple of nights using the pate the spot is nearly gone and feeling loads better.
This is a brilliant product for me and I would re purchase in a flash, although I feel the 15ml tube will last sometime. If you get a few spots it’s worth investigating.

I had such high hopes for this product because it is pricey and it is made by a dermatologist. Sometimes this product works, if the pimple is really small and comes to a whitehead fast. The best part is that it leaves no scar on little acne. However, on huge cystic acne, this makes them even more angry and big. So if you get the occasional huge cyst, this product won’t work and only makes it worse I think. The thing that I hate about this is after you put it on, it never really dries so it is hard to go to sleep without getting it on your pillowcase. The search for curing acne continues…
