In the first weeks, honestly it had broken me out but after tolerantly using it for 1 month, it started showing good results on my skin because of the high concentration of vitamin C. It exfoliated my skin and also reduced the redness. Its texture is light. It absorbed into my skin so fast and it is also fragrance-free. It’s a good essence but if asking me that is it worth to repurchase, I would say no.

Mine is “Clinique Even Better Essence Lotion” for dry to very dry combination. There’s no Brighter written on it
LOVE this essence so much that I can’t remember how could I live without it in past.I have a normal skin which gets very dry during winters or whenever I use AHAs,it also sometimes breaks out when my skin doesn’t like a skincare product and I have to go through a long period of Eczema, dryness, redness and flakey skin but I can’t use heavy, oily creams because they clog my pores immediately and make my cheeks full of tiny pimples.Even though my skin isn’t usually overly dry in summer,my foundations don’t sit well on it and pull off and even become flakey so I really need to cleanse and then moisturize my skin properly before makeup
This was my usual skincare routine: I washed and cleansed my skin, then used a watery/thermal toner, then used a serum, usually lancome Genifique or Oriflame Novage True perfection, then used a moisturizer, clinique dramatically different lotion or Moisture surge gel-creme in summer/Collistar Nero sublime or something more rich and heavy in winter
But now that I have this essence and it’s summer,I can use it after cleansing and my skin is soft, hydrated and plumped even without using any serum or moisturizer!(but I often use a moisturizer after it)
I use this one all through year,it’s not heavy or oily at all,It’s texture isn’t watery but is not as thick as a gel either,it’s like a very runny gel and doesn’t have any scent.it makes my Dramatically Lotion absorb better, spread easier and give me a longer lasting hydrating effect, never feels sticky and tacky, never clogs my pores, never causes pimples, irritations, sting or redness.it makes my skin as smooth as a baby’s skin and dewy(not shiney/oily)
I can’t explain how much I love it.the only things I don’t like about it is that it’s very difficult to find in my country and very expensive, another CON is that it’s huge bottle is difficult to carry while travelling,I also prefer a pump bottle but these things won’t prevent me from repurchasing it…good point is that a little goes a long way and a 200mil bottle lasts a long loooong time
If you’re lazy or too busy to follow several steps of skincare routines, this clinique essence is a great choice for you.if you have oily skin you can use it after cleansing your face as your only moisturizer,a lightweight yet efficient one,and you will be good to go but if you have dry skin you will need to put on a moisturizer afterwards
Edit:
I still love it
These days I follow a more simple routine.I wash my skin, apply this lotion and a moisturizer afterwards in night.in mornings that I stay at home,I just spray thermal water and apply this while my skin is still damp,it keeps my skin hydrated and dewy all through the day

A very nice product, the third step to my skincare routine after toner, the essence goes on so easily and absorbs quickly. It preps my skin before I apply Clinique’s moisture surge extended thirst relief moisturiser. I have clear skin almost always (didn’t use to) and I’d credit it mostly to Clinique!

I absolutely love this product; it’s been a game-changer for me. Even though what it does might seem very basic/small, it lays a strong foundation for the rest of my routine. I have very oily skin and I’ve struggled with finding a good cleanser. ‘Gentle’ cleansers don’t do a thing for me while those targeted at oily skin are very drying/stripping. I’ve settled for something in between but my skin still feels parched /tight after cleansing. That’s where the essence comes in. It’s so light-weight, yet completely quenches my skin. I’ve tried other essences, event the SKII essence, and I can honestly say nothing came close in my experience. Most just felt like I was washing my face again. The Clinique essense hydrates and makes my moisturizer absorb better. After I wash my face I find my self rushing to dab this on.

Been using this for 3, 4 years now? Great stuff. It left my skin supple, smooth and hydrated from the first moment I used it. Never looked back.
I use the dry/ very dry version, which is more milky. The oily combo one is watery. My skin type is normal and I wanted the extra hydration from the dry version. The bottle is pretty expensive, but it lasts me a year with daily use. 3 drops is enough for the whole face. After cleansing and clarifying, I use this and I can feel life and elasticity come back to my skin instantly. Love!
Edit: They discontinued it again. Not cool.
Edit again: the clinique lady told me they are coming out with A replacement again which will replace all their lotions. Listen guys reformulated all you want but can you bring out the new product before discontinuing the old? I’m now looking to Korean brands for essences and may never go back depending on what your new formula looks like 2 years from now when I run out of essence from Korea.

This essence is really good! I have the combination-oily variant and it is so light, so watery but still does a decent job at hydrating my skin. I use it after i apply my exfoliant and the effect that i immediately notice is a marked reduction in redness on my face. It has no fragrance and feels cool and soothing and makes my skin soft and dewy. Obviously it won’t do much for moisturization on its own but paired with a nice moisturizer or facial oil, it works perfectly!
I must mention that my pores get clogged really easily, but this essence does not break me out at all. I have been using it for more than two months and i haven’t even finished a third of the bottle. A thin layer all over the face is all that is required and that’s a small quantity (it literally spreads like water) Quite cost-effective for me. I pat it in and wait for about 5 mins before applying anything else (it does feel tacky while patting but after about a minute, my face is left soft and glowy)
I has helped to even out my complexion and fits in nicely in my routine.
I will buy this again and again. It is a nice way to give an antioxidant boost to the skin and i love that it soothes any inflammation that i have instantly.

I realize that this product is fragrance free, but for some reason it has a faint odd smell to me that I really don’t like. There was a ton of product in the bottle I got, so I ended up slathering it on just to get through it. The essence is mildly tacky on its own, but I didn’t find this to be an issue when using a moisturizer afterwards. Not really a standout product for my skin needs for me to repurchase, especially at the price point.

I need to review this! A couple of months ago I bought the Essence for Oily/Combo skin from Sephora online as no dept. store counter or Ulta/Sephora carried in my area. I think of this as a light moisturizer without the cream or gel base, if that makes sense? Really, the “essence” of a light moisturizer that has gentle, non-irritating, beneficial ingredients. I use maybe 4 drops in the morning, gently press into skin – but only when needed. If my Retin-A and retinol use has caused flakies, this works great before sunscreen. Don’t use it everyday but really like it very much and will re-purchase.
Edit 6/7/17 – lowering rating as after more uses started breaking me out in small, irritated red areas. Stopped using it and skin cleared up. Pretty sad about that 🙁 it feels so good!

This essence seems to fall right in between a serum and a toner. I use this after cleansing my face in the morning. This essence really makes my skin feel like a baby’s butt. My skin eats this stuff. It really just gives it sooo much life. I got the combination oily to oily one and it’s perfect. I have not experienced any breakouts/irritation. I’m actually running out of this after nearly a year of use. Kinda pricey, but it lasts so long. It’s totally worth it.

I really like this essence lotion because it helps with my uneven skin tone. My pigmentation is lighter but I also use Vitamin c serum after. I follow up with a mist of Avene thermal spray after the c serum soaks in. And I also wait for the essence lotion to dry before the vitamin c serum. Lastly I follow with a day cream with min spf 25 or higher.
A couple of times a night I also use a retinol treatment.
I feel as if this essence lotion is great for helping with my uneven skin tone of course with the other treatments. I don’t find it greasy and I use the one for dry skin. Mines lasts for about 4 months with daily use in the AM. I prefer PC Skin recovery toner in the PM.
It’s expensive but since it lasts for a couple of months maybe it’s doable on my budget. Hope this helps!!!:)
Update: it lasted 7 months and I will wait for a discount before repurchasing. Also I noticed a newer version is out this year (2018)
