This REEKS with alcohol denaturate. I really don’t know why companies still think it is all right to put this ingredient in their products when it can be so harmful to the skin.
I have used half of the bottle of this on and off which I bought as one of my favourite Youtuber was singing its praises and finally decided to bin it because I don’t want to damage skin on my face. I have not noticed any difference when using this product apart from extreme dryness and dehydrated look of my skin. Day after day my skin looked worse and worse, started to notice broken capillaries and really dull look. This was the only product that I added to my routine (I have never used any other essence and I don’t think I ever will – it is a totally unnecessary step in my routine. Give me a good hyaluronic acid and I’m good to go), so the culprit was easy to spot and eliminate.
It was an expensive mistake, avoid if you have dry, dehydrated mature skin and don’t like heavily fragranced products.

I am so dissappointed with this product because it broke me out a lot. I usually never ever brake out. immediatly stopped using it now my face is getting better after a week. I have a dry skin. I do not know what they put in it but it is not something that you expect from a £38 product. Keep your proof of payment in case you buy this product, I lost mine and dont know what to do with this expensive product that I can not use anymore.

Excellent! Within a week this is working better than any serum I’ve tried yet. It is easy to apply, has only a faint pleasant fragrance, and doesn’t make your face sticky for sleeping. Smooths and evens out tired, aging, lackluster skin, and imparts a nice glow. I’m very impressed.

I tried lots of Kiehl’s products in the past year. Some were so-so, others great. I ordered a full-sized bottle of this essence despite knowing little about it. It is really a wonderful product and I definitely notice a difference if I stop using it. I am 50, with hormonal acne combined with dry skin that has uneven tone. I apply 3-4 drops of this product by pressing in with fingertips after washing and toning with witch hazel. Afterward I use the Kiehls day serum and dab ultra facial moisturizer on my dry spots. I feel this iris essence makes my skin smooth, soft and hydrated. I have been using it once daily for 11 months and I still have half a bottle. Cost is expensive, but worth it to me for an amazing product. Also no irritation, dryness or breakouts whatsoever.

Okay so with my work schedule and stressor ofcourse i’m gonna have all of that acne induced by stress, a dull skin, and uneven skin tones. Three years ago i visited the kiehl’s booth and asked for the sample size, which then i tried at home. I tried the ultra facial wash, ultra facial cream, clearly corrective dark spot solution, and iris treatment essence. The next month i bought the clearly corrective dark spot solution,because i feel i am in need of a good serum for my uneven skin tone and i still bought this kiehl’s iris treatment activating essence in travel size. Because i couldn’t care less about toner. Back at the time i am still in my over-drying my face because i feel my oily skin needs it. Wrong right. It is only recently for about 3 months where i have been really search into what my skin needs. At that time i am using kiehls iris treatment essence as toner, the ordinary niacinamide+zinc as morning serum and the ordinary magnesium ascorby as night serum, laroche posay effaclar duo+ at moisturizer. My skin looks more calm and so i have the courage to switch my akincare routine. The first thing i changed was my toner, i usually used this toner and i switched to thayer martin witch hazel whih broke me out like crazy. A red cystic acne below my eyes area (which never happend to me before) and then in a state of distress i stopped using it considering it is the only new thing i introduced to my skincare routine. And then i switch again to this toner, but i ak still searching for other toner which relatively much more affordable, and then i turned to benton aloe bha toner. For 7 days i feel okay, and then it happened again. It broke me out in a red cystic acne. It took me two breakout experience to finally realize i have the right toner for my skin after all, considering the size and the price i make up my mind and said that it was worthed. Kiehls iris treatment activating essence does give me the moisture i need, radiance, supple smooth skin. It makes my serum penetrates better.

This is probably my favourite essence. Partially because I love the smell 🙂 . Its quite fragrant, so keep that in mind if fragrance bothers you. It claims to contain anti aging ingredients; I’m sure they aren’t doing me any harm, but I cant honestly say I look any younger 🙂 But, what it does do for my face, that I can visibly see, I really like. It hydrates and “preps” my face. I have the odd dry patch (mature, dryer skin) that crops up from time to time on my forehead and the minute I apply this is goes away. I use this daily, as an essence, pre serums, or as a moisturizer, post masking. Its quite watery, a few drops in your hand, pat on your face (rub in if you like) and it dries down in a few minutes. I do feel like my skin absorbs serums better following this (or another hydrating accelerator I also love). Its become a required step in my routine. The packaging is nice, large plastic bottle, small opening that dispenses a few drops as needed. A little goes a long way, I’m still not through one bottle and I’ve been using it for months. Overall, I think for the price, its very cost effective, compared to some of the very pricey essences on the market. I say I cant see the anti aging benefits but I do see that my skin looks “smoother” overall, whether that’s attributable to this one item is unknown, but I do think this helps. And if not….well I just like the feel and smell of it 🙂

I love love love. Never thought that such a ‘running’ product could make a difference. But it does!!
After a couple of weeks of applying, I can truly see the difference. Especially more radiance/less redness! I have issues with ‘redness’ and I must say that with a combination of the Iris extract and the Chanel solutions 10, I almost forget to put on my foundation. This means that the redness is gone! True 5 star!

Honestly didn’t quite see much difference whilst using this product. I have used better essence that gives a visible result. It is supposed to ‘improve appearance of fine lines, dullness, and rough texture over time’. Maybe it would work for u if you are specifically looking for an anti aging product. However, did not give me any breakouts or skin problems, the texture of the essence is pretty interesting and great to apply . The smell is alright as well. Would not repurchase it currently but would still recommend for new consumers to give it a try

This stuff is amazing. I live in an extremely hot and dry climate and I am constantly battling with dry patches on my T zone. The product absorbs quickly and leaves my face feeling soft. Dry patches completely gone. I went away for work for a few days and forgot to pack it and I could notice the difference. I let it dry for a minute then apply serum/moisturizer. My skin can be a little on the sensitive side. I have applied it after using scrubs and no stinging at all. It isn’t cheap, but I have had it a month and have barely put a dent in it. I keep meaning to transfer it to a spray bottle which would make it last even longer.
