Edit- i mixed this (I was running out FAST) with MCT oil (capric n caprylic only). Did the trick and has been just as effective for 4 days now … Less waste of either and texture is better for spreading onto a wide area without having to apply a ton.
They are similarly priced so the total cost of 40 dollars isn’t too bad as we use MCT oil as a supplement anyway.
The MCT oil is supposed to help with reducing malassezia-causing bacteria by default, as well as being something that doesn’t increase their proliferation. Alone MCT isn’t as good for moisturizing but with the Mayumi it’s wonderful. Gosh just the name Mayumi makes me happy now, thinking of how well it works.

My son has very dry skin. He has a lot of health issues, this isn’t eczema though. Anyway, I was shocked last week when I saw that it seemed he had a deep cut on his finger, the doctor had said it was nothing but dryness and the skin cracked so deeply.
I had till that point been trying all kinds of moisturizers and techniques for him, off and on, and found them all hopeless. They moisturize but for a short amount of time. This is years that I mean of trying various things. Even La Roche Posay AP+ Baume does very little to help him, we went through several tubes of that.
I even made my own balms for him with beeswax and oils.
Lubriderm and then Vaseline on top is what I’d resigned to till last week, but it clearly wasn’t doing the job. I had previously tried squalane (Indeed Labs one) on him (at least one if not two bottles). And it hadn’t helped in any way. It seemed way too light. I also tried Haba on him and it was, again, not helpful.
I got this Mayumi on its way to me (I also have very very dry skin on my body) last week from recommendations. This is fantastic on dry fine hair as it doesn’t ‘weigh it down’ nor break me out. It’s also a richer feeling squalane than others I’ve tried.
Anyway this works FABULOUSLY on my son. It just healed his skin in 2 days. I use it all over his body, on damp skin. It doesn’t feel greasy, etc, and the moisture LASTS, his skin doesn’t crack.
One can, of course, layer other things on top or alongside the oil. I think it just improves the efficacy of the other moisturizers for him.
This is absolutely a miracle, and this is more effective than the HABA, The Ordinary, or Indeed Labs ones for him. The HABA and The Ordinary ones are good for me, though. (I like squalane because one needs very little if patted onto damp skin and the moisturization effect lasts longer than other things I tried, no irritation for my son whose skin reacts to many innocuous seeming products, and it is recommended by doctor.)

My mom has been using Mayumi forever. She’s over 70 now and without a single wrinkle on her face or neck.
I had no idea about this product until I recently sliced my foot on some metal. It was bloody but not Emergency Room material. As I reached for the good old neosporin while holding my skin in place, my sweet mom insisted I use Mayumi instead. I religiously applied it twice a day and the wound completely healed within 10 days without any scarring.
Since then, I’ve added Mayumi to my daily facial regimen. It is soaks in instantly without a greasy feel because heaven knows I don’t need that since I’m super oily to begin with.
Hopefully, I can look like my mom when I’m her age. 🙂

Love love love! I just started using this and I’m impressed! I’m 47 and STILL have to be careful about oils due to breakouts, plus I now have aging issues. I can use this under makeup!!! Never would have even considered this before. I pat this on in the AM and again at night about an hour after my retinol cream. Wake up looking refreshed and bright. Price is excellent when you consider you only need 2 to 3 drops at a time. Will definately repurchase.

I ran across this a few years ago and would love to also put my cheer in for this product as well. I love it.
I recently adopted a new skincare regimen that goes in accordance to Dr Hauschka’s belief that night cream should not be used. I agree that the skin should be allowed to breathe at night, especially if you use foundations during the day like I do.
This oil is great because it absorbs in minutes and leaves my face a nice soft, supple, texture. I notice that my cheeks absorb more readily than my forehead does (as it stays oily longer there). I guess you just kinda factor in what areas need more.
The price is not bad at all. I dont know if I go for that whole shark liver oil thing (and the fact that they never get cancer, etc). It makes sense but I am far too removed from biological know-how to say that this is a solid reason to buy it.
I have, however, used all kinds of oils for moiturizing… almond, hazelnut, coconut, olive, shea butter, raw coco butter, (have yet to get around to jojoba)…. and this oil is the best at leaving a non greasy feeling.
Its easy to spread too and you need very very very little bit.
Ive replaced mine twice.. and I started using it a few years ago. (granted, I use it every few days).
The only issue I have with it is that the oil begins to smell after 4 or 5 months. I think its in the way the dispenser works. It seems prone to grow bacteria or something in it after a while because I start to see floaty bits in it. I still use it with few problems other than the discomfort of the smell. It doesnt cause break outs and I dont have sensitive skin so it works fine for me. I wish they would use an eyedropper so that I could keep the oil clean and away from my fingers.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I use Impruv cream my Stifel labs. It has Squalene in it and that is the ingredient that keeps my skin soft and supple. So I found out about Mayumi.
I use a lot less Impruv because I do this:
A) spray freshly washed face with thermal water
B) 2 drops, AND ONLY 2 on my fingertips. Gently pat around into skin
C) very small amount of Impruv cream dotted on face patted in gently.
Since I have started using Mayumi I get compliments like: “Do you have a suntan? your skin looks so even” or “What are you eating to make your skin look so smooth and even”
I have to admit I have been using FAB facial radiance pads too. With my Squalene needn’t worry about destroying my lipid barrier.
Freaking awesome stuff. Shh tho dont tell too many people.
***UPDATE*** I am no longer using FAB Facial Radiance Pads.
I still really like Mayumi, but if I use too much I get some serious facial itch.

This stuff…is terrible. I was getting irritation and thought it was the FAB glycolic pads. No, it was the SQUALENE. Unstable and highly oxidised half way thru the bottle I now know the difference between SQUALANE and SQUALENE.

This is one of the BEST skin oils I have ever tried. I was initially using Trilogy rose hip oil but I was finding that the moisture didn’t last long enough for my skin. For reference, I have combination skin with a very oily T zone and super dry cheeks and under eye area. I bought this as I had noticed that my skin seemed to really love products with squalane in them: eg. Oleda cell abration cream, oilatum face repair cream etc.. so I suspected that this would work well for me in its pure oil form. Luckily, I was right- my skin laps this up and I find that the moisture lasts longer than rose hip oil. Its a very “clean” oil in that its not super greasy or sticky but at the same time, its very rich and soothing. Every time I apply this to my face before applying makeup it makes my skin very smooth, glowy and radiant- in fact, it works better than primer for me and also diminishes the appearance of the few fine laughter lines I have around my eyes. I cannot believe the difference this oil makes to my skin – it really is superb. It has also never broken me out, although, to be fair, I am not clog prone. The information leaflet claims that squalane oil has anti bacterial properties which I found interesting but I would be hesitant to use this product if I had very oily clog prone skin. I also use this on my children’s skin as it moisturises like no other product I have come across and leaves us all glowy and radiant 🙂 Love this product and highly recommend it.

Ive been using this oil and my face feels wonderful with noticed improvement to texture. I looked up what Squalane Oil is and it says made from shark liver. Thank you Mr Shark my skin looks wonderful * update after 1 year of use I saw no difference. I think this product would be useful if you need a light oil on your face for moisture but I might keep looking.

Now that I’m 30 years old I have to actually moisturize my face, can you believe it? In my twenties, I’d wash my face with bar soap and I never even thought about applying moisturizer unless my face was noticeably flaky. Yikes! The abuse I put my face through. My skin is starting to change, it’s much drier now and I’m starting to notice fine laugh lines around my mouth. I don’t think I can stop the aging process and I don’t really care to, but I feel that keeping my skin properly moisturized is important. I’ve been exploring different treatment methods. I tried Oil of Olay for a while, but I found it to be too heavy and the scent was unpleasant to my nose. Squalane oil is perfection. It’s completely odorless and light. It absorbs into the skin quickly, and I really notice a change in the dry patches around my nose and mouth.

I usually mix this in a 1:1 ratio of oil and water and add it to a spray bottle for after shower use. Makes my skin smooth all day 🙂 !!!
