My go-to shampoo was beginning to fail me, so based on the advice of my hair stylist, I decided to try a sulfate-free clarifying shampoo. I picked this up at Winner’s since it met this criteria. Unfortunately, this product did not fix my grease problem and after a wash with it my hair dried oily. So, I turned to my old bottle of Matrix Normalizing Shampoo for Normal to Oily hair, even though this clarifying shampoo is not sulfate-free and I dye my hair, and it fixed my hair good as new, yay! I now based my hair with this Matrix shampoo once a week or every two weeks on the regular since apparently you are supposed to do that with a clarifying shampoo to reduce build-up.

I use this only once in a while. I guess I don’t get much build-up, because I don’t use heavy styling products. My water is super hard though, and I definitely notice when the minerals start to build up. Chelating shampoos destroy my hair. This is the first clarifying shampoo that hasn’t left my hair tangled in a squeaky, straw-like ball. A little goes a long way, and this is extremely effective. I use a heavy-duty conditioner and a leave-in after washing with it.

This is like a gentle clarifying shampoo if that makes sense. If you generally find clarifying shampoos to be too harsh and damaging for your hair type, then this will be good. It has a fruity scent that is sort of citrusy and tart. I do have to use a lot to get it to suds up correctly for me but it does clean well and I allow it to sit in my hair for a few minutes before rinsing and applying conditioner. Redken Cleansing Cream is still my favorite and HG. However this is a nice alternative.

I am surprised by the good reviews for this clarifying shampoo because it fell flat for me. The shampoo is a lightly scented grapefruit that does not linger. It is described as a cream shampoo, it is not. I found the shampoo consistency to be thin, almost like a diluted shampoo. While this did not strip my hair and leave it feeling dry, it also did not leave my hair feeling like it had been washed at all.

I’ve been meaning to try out Ouidad products for some time now. I was pleased with this product, but did not find it to work any miracles. I still prefer my Brocato Miracle 9 shampoo, which is around the same price. But this is a nice change and has a nice scent to it that is not overpowering. It definitely removes buildup and yet cleanses in a gentle manner. Definitely try this especially if you have a coupon for Ulta!

Fantastic! Never thought I’d find a shampoo that moisturized AND made my hair feel so clean.

I have super fine 3A curly, layered, shoulder length hair. Recently went Curly Girl but I find I have issues with products building up so I started looking for something sulfate free, silicone free but would do the job and without making my hair feel like straw.
This totally fills the bill. I wont go and say it’s HG only after a few uses but I am hopeful that I will be able to say that in time.
Found this at Ulta for $18 for 8.5oz. Price isn’t outrageous but isn’t cheap either. I really don’t mind paying extra for something that works so well. It comes in a bottle with a toggle type cap so packaging is quite standard. The smell of this is very nice. The feel of the product is creamy and lathers well, even without the sulfates. I lathered into my hair and kept it in for a few minutes in the shower (as directed) and when I washed it out, my hair felt really clean but not straw like at all.
I then followed this up with my favorite leave-in and gel and air dried. Hair is nice and shiny with no build up feel (my leave in is the culprit for the build up) and I couldn’t be happier.
