Bought this in an Ethnic shop in Holland by coincidence, and I’m actually surprisingly pleased. I have the sunflower coconut one, and I think it does exactly what it says. It is conditioning and detangling. Love that. I also like the smell, it’s a quite neutral but pleasant shampoo smell, nothing too strong. I prefer this one much better to the Aussie Luscious Long shampoo that I used before this, which has a much more fancy image to it. The Aussie one had a very thick consistency, whereas this one is creamy, but thinner, and feels like it cleanses my hair better from grease and dirt.

(I am sorry, this review will be long!) I stumbled upon Creme of Nature (detangling and conditioning) shampoo in Sally Beauty, while browsing around. This shampoo got my attention because I felt that my hair could benefit from detangling, as it is wavy and can get quite dull, unless I load it up with leave-in conditioner. I also liked that it contained natural oils (coconut and sunflower). Only when I got home did I notice that it contains sodium laureth sulfate, and I was upset, because I try to use sulfate-free shampoos, so I felt I would need to return it on that basis alone. Then I thought, maybe the devil isn’t as bad as he is painted, and it is worth trying something different. Maybe it will not dry out my hair – maybe it will actually work out well. For the reference, I have been using Renpure Originals Argan Oil (sulfate-free) shampoo, which is quite natural, and it has been working well. However, once I have tried Creme of Nature, I saw how much better my hair was. I did not even know it could be so nice.
This shampoo has a pleasant slippery feel, which helps a lot to distribute it in the hair and lather up. I think it is due to the glycerin being fairly high on the ingredients list. It also smells so pleasant! Every time I wash my hair, this scent takes me to the hairstylist chair, because it smells like a professional shampoo – very mild, sweet scent, like candy, but not overbearingly so! I feel like glycerin really helps to separate the hair and keep them separated.
I always follow up with an apple cider vinegar rinse (to keep my scalp from exzema), rinse, then add conditioner and use fingers or wide-tooth comb to separate hair some. While there sometimes are bad tangles, I find that it is overall easier to separate hair after washing with Creme of Nature than with Renpure. I dry off with a microfiber towel and apply leave-in conditioner to help waves form.
The first morning, my waves looked noticeably more shiny and smooth. I thought that it might have only been due to me using the microfiber towel, which I incidentally started using at the same time as trying this shampoo… but the results have been consistently so terrific that I don’t even want to switch to the Renpure argan oil shampoo to find out (not yet). All I know is that this shampoo really detangles as I am washing my hair, and I never notice any build-up. I wash my hair every other day, and sometimes use dry shampoo for the third day. Hair does dry out on the third day, but the results the next day of washing are very impressive. The bottle is super cheap, for the quality – $6.49 for 20 oz. As my hair is fairly normal, non-colored, and apparently is taking sulfates well, this shampoo is a miracle to me. It seems that there has been a formula change and not everyone likes this shampoo. If you have normal, wavy hair, and are not against sulfates, I would recommend trying this shampoo.
Among lots of other things, this shampoo contains glycerin, sunflower and coconut oils, and extracts of thyme, sage leaf, watercress, senega root, basil flower/leaf, rosemary leaf, and peppermint leaf.
Does have fragrance and parabens. Well, it is hard to come by shampoo without fragrance, though, so I suppose it will not kill me. For parabens, I learned that those aren’t as bad as they are portrayed (they are naturally produced in berries and plants, and are broken down by our system way faster than they would accumulate to so high levels as to cause something bad). I may very well repurchase this shampoo!

I bought the “Ultra Moisturizing” Shampoo from Sally’s, it’s in a big orange bottle and it says it has kiwi and citrus in it.
I have really fine thin hair, I also color it blonde which is really bad because of the type of hair I have. I read an article about protein and moisture balance online and I figured since my hair was lacking luster and protein would prob make it crunchier, I had to try something ultra moisturizing.
This shampoo is very creamy in color and if you look at the ingredients, its very conditioning. I really like how smooth my hair feels after I wash it and this is before I condition it. I also use this in conjunction with L’oreal extreme moisture conditioner in the tub. And my hair feels great. My only con is, that the very next day I wake up to an oily scalp. I like to wash my hair every other day so this shampoo doesn’t allow me to go even a day without washing or using a dry shampoo. I have a huge bottle but I’d use this again in the future.

I just bought the newer bottle “Kiwi and Citrus” Ultra moisturizing shampoo. This stuff is great. I was doing baking soda rinses or using Suave clarifying shampoo to cleanse my hair. I noticed for quite some time that even after deep conditioning and oil treating with Coconut oil, my hair was still lacking in moisture. A few of the hairstylists I’ve tried in my area would tell me I should switch to a moisturizing shampoo, but of course i thought I knew better than them and continued with my cleansing ritual. My sister called me a few weeks ago and told me how harsh the baking soda rinses and clarifiers can be on the hair and that I should switch to the moisturizing shampoos. I can really tell the difference in my hair (moist and healthy looking)after only one use. This stuff is definitely HG. I love it and will continue to purchase.

I got a huge bottle of this at Sally’s. I’m not crazy about the smell, but it is very moisturizing. I wont buy it again because I am so sick of the scent.

I have excellent results with this shampoo. I use the red cap bottle from Sally’s. I have long, fine but lots of it, blond highlighted hair that is prone to massive dryness and damage. This shampoo is moisturizing. It does not lie when it says you can get away with not using a conditioner following it. It does seem to leave kind of a film on the hair, but I use this product in rotation with others, so I don’t experience a build up of that film. Not sure what would happen if I did use it exclusively. But the film is not bad in my experience – my results are moisturized hair that has body and added shine. Now for my hair to come out like that from a very low cost shampoo is nothing short of a miracle, so I must give this stuff a huge “5”!

All Creme of Nature shampoos are not equal. There’s the green top one (moisturizing) which is totally fantastic. It makes my hair so soft. it leaves a film on my hair that makes it more manageable to comb and straighten.
The 2nd CON shampoo is the Ultra Moisturizing Professional Botanical version which broke my scalp out in sores less that a minute after rinsing it out despite it saying on the bottle that it was full of a lot of natural things.It didn’t moisturize. Didn’t do anything but cause me pain.
Make sure you buy your CON from a reputable store as there are many beauty stores out there that do cut it and mix ti with something else now that it’s been discontinued and replaced with this inferior version. I wish the manufacturers would put a plastic film over the top to stop this. The only way of knowing before you purchase is by the smell. If you know the smell of CON (I have a nose like a bloodhound) you can instantly tell when something else is mixed in with it. CON has a very distinctive strong smell.
Every now and again I try some other shampoo thinking I may get the same result but CON always beats them. Adding a few drops of Kemi Oyl to my hair afterwards and I look like a head & shoulders commercial.
6 MONTH UPDATE
Tried every shampoo out there now and keep coming back to this one. Most moisturizing ones work for a few washes then they start making my hard feel dry and hard. CON has an intense smell I’m not happy with but the product leaves my and my familys hair looking fantastic.
Update 2: unfortunately the company has changed the product and everywhere I go I smell the bottles and it no longer smells right. It stopped working in my amily and my hair, instead of leaving it soft made it hard and brittle so we had to stop using it permanently. Our scalps would also start to itch and flake and we had what we thought was Psorias of the scalp.
As soon as we switched shampoo it cleared up. We are now using Hugo Naturals red tea and ylang ylang shampoo (from Whole Foods) which gives the exact same softness effect but without whatever allergen is now present in CON.
1 YEAR UPDATE
I found a store that sold discontinued bottles of the real CON deal and bought about 10 large bottles and again we’re in heaven. Our hair looks and feels better, flat irons better. EVERY is better.My stash shouldn;t run out until 2012

If you’re searching for Sulfate and Silicone free, very moisturizing shampoo try this; if you hate it, you’re out all of $3. I alternate this with CO washing and sulfate shampoos. Not my favorite scent, but I use other products over it, so it doesn’t linger. Definite repurchase for me.
For reference, I have BSL, wavy (2a/b) lightly hennaed hair and do not use heat or tools of any kind.
