This Caviar shampoo leaves my hair so soft. No itchy scalp. Pricey.

Washes my hair well without drying it out at all. Leaves my hair very soft and frizz free. I am not sure this is worth the price though and I am not entirely sure I would repurchase it. There are other shampoos that work as well at a lower price point. I do love how gentle this is though. Might repurchase.

Normally, my hair is soft with prone to be dry and frizzed, unflexible & heavy.. Basicaly, my hair looks OK, but you would never ask me, how I take care of my hair that it looks so gorgeous and healthy, because it des not like that even though I actually take care of my hair very very much. I used the most expensive products, giving a masks, even the one made at home, but nothing.
Anyway… when I pick up shampoos, I look for ingredients- I do not want have any chemicals and silicons, not only it causes me breaks my skin, but also it is not long term solution.
This Alterna Caviar anti aging line is between the products, that helped to maintain my hair to look less dry and a bit manageable. I only have feeling, that the more I use it, the less it does the job, like shampoos with silicons does.
My dream hair product line would be, if it can make my hair flexible and shiny. But I am afraid, there is not much that shampoos can do.

I got a free sample of this shampoo from Sephora. At first try it seemed thicker than most shampoos, but it was gloriously moisturizing on my very dry, sensitive scalp and damaged hair. It has a pleasant, fruity smell and and has cute, purple packaging. The shampoo comes in three sizes: 1.35 for $9, 8.5oz for $32, or 16.5oz for $49. It is not cheap, but it is a very high quality shampoo. I highly recommend it for those with dry, sensitive scalps and damaged hair, particularly if you need a sulfate-free product like I do.

I really like this shampoo- its really moisturizing. Even if I wash my already dry hair daily, it does not become dried up with this shampoo. It also smells amazing and the scent lingers all day. A very nice, clean scent. Its a bit pricey, but I only need a quarter sized amount.

I tested the shampoo and conditioner as a set, alternating between this set and others and blow drying my hair with no product in it. My hair is highlighted blonde but otherwise not really fine or thick, about medium. When my hair consistently dried like silk and hence took about a decade off my hair’s appearance compared with the others, I used it several days in a row to see if it would weigh my hair down. No, it didn’t. This is my new HG set. I don’t like the fragrance at all, and I almost threw it away after the first use before I’d dried my hair. ONE IMPORTANT CAVEAT. This is not a sub for a deep-conditioning treatment, IMO. If your hair is really fried, I recommend a weekly or bi-weekly mask or treatment. (I leave mine on in the shower a few minutes, Aveda’s damage remedy intense restructuring treatment, but I’m sure there are home remedies, too. I left treatment out when testing the Caviar set.) What makes it good for daily use is that it’s not too intense. When I didn’t wash my hair every day, it looked greasy, but I was testing in hot weather. I do believe even in cold weather that this is sufficiently moisturizing to require daily shampooing. I would also definitely use it before a big event. I was surprised by negative reviews and highly recommend this, as I’m really picky about shampoo.

Background on my hair: waist length, bleached and toned, olaplex treated, fine in quality – thick in quantity. I have an oily scalp yet even moisturizing formulas have stripped my hair. Yes, it’s difficult.
This doesn’t contain sulfates per se, but close alternatives. I found this shampoo to be very drying. It’s supposed to revive hair, hence the fancy “anti-aging” ingredients… but my hair felt like hay afterwards. This DOES contain silicone, which is a pro to me as silicone adds slip and locks in moisture on *my* hairtype. I know a lot of you out there are anti-silicone however – so I’m pointing this out now.
I do like that fragrance is very last on the list, it’s so minimal of an amount I doubt any of you with sensitive scalps will be bothered by it. I do like that this contains various oils and extracts…even if I didn’t reap the benefits. The different saccharomyces ferments are actually anti-oxidants so in theory this should reverse free-radical damage. My only hesitance regarding that is this is a shampoo, so it’s not going to have much contact time with your hair. A leave in product containing those ingredients would be better for long term results. Editing to add: This lathers a lot.
Alterna as a brand has generally disappointed me. The ingredient lists are fancy yet the performances have always let me down. Honestly, some of their advertising is gimmicky. But I see that with nearly every brand these days. I will not repurchase.

I bought this shampoo because I rec’d a sample of the Alterna Caviar volume mist and it did a great job. Youtube reviews made me try this shampoo. It lathers well. I notice a coating similar to silicone that concerns me and over time I am not confident that it will improve the health of my hair, but it seems to give a bit of volume to my fine hair. I have tried this 3 times and not sure this will truly moisturize as well as Bain De Terre Moisturizing Shampoo (which was AMAZING and provided certain moisture at first use) that is a fraction of the price at $10. I have seen rave reviews about this shampoo and will alternate it with my others and use the product until complete since it’s sulfate free. I am afraid it will be harsh to use as a constant shampoo. I always complain about high prices of products but buy them anyway hoping that they will perform better. The performance of his shampoo is definitely not worth $30.

I was really disappointed with this product. I really like Alterna products and they are the only products I use for my hair. Since this is their most popular product, I decided to try it. I have very fine hair that is prone to breaking and is dry at the ends. I thought this would be moisturizing since it has the word ‘moisture’ in it. Well, it does the opposite. It is extremely drying. My hair looks absolutely terrible when I use it, all dried out and poofy hairs sticking out. It is volumizing but not in a nice way. None of my other alterna products have done this to me, they usually make my hair look really nice. The only way I can make this work is if I put conditioner all over my hair including scalp, and normally i dont need conditioner or only use it on the bottom half of my hair. Really disappointed with this, especially with the high price tag. Also, it has an unpleasant smell like some chemical cleaning product but luckily it disappears once your hair is dry. If you have a similar hair type to me I would recommend the caviar rx instant recovery shampoo, it is way better and the same price.

My hair is extremely coarse & thick, in addition to being slightly dry, color-treated, and heat-styled. I also just turned 40, so the anti-aging aspect appeals to me. I need color protection, moisture, and strength. I prefer sulfate free shampoos on my hair, and this fit the bill. The shampoo itself is a thick, creamy, pearlescent white liquid with a spectactular fragrance. Like a mixture of blackberries & cardamom. It smells incredibly luxe & delicious. The shampoo lathers well, unlike a lot of sulfate-free products, and you don’t need much product at all. I find that it leaves my hair feeling clean, but it can leave my hair pretty tangled if I don’t comb through while rinsing. After conditioner, it feels great. I do think this could be a little more moisturizing, but it does the trick. If your hair is truly, truly parched, this probably won’t be hydrating enough. On my slightly dry hair, it’s fine. Upon blowdrying, my hair looks gorgeous – shiny, smooth & sleek. I definitely notice less breakage after using this, and it does help preserve my color. This is pretty pricey, but a little does go a long way. I would probably repurchase this.
