I’ve been hanging onto a sample packet of this for months that came with a Sephora order and I finally had an opportunity to try it. After a day of sun and swimming I thought a good exfoliator was in order to remove my sunscreen and this did work really well in that regard. My skin felt smoother and very clean without feeling dry or tight. I don’t think it was “brightening” as it claims but it was still a nice way to gently exfoliate my skin. I don’t see this listed on Sephora’s website so I’m not sure this is even available anymore.

I bought this because it was extremely inexpensive (on clearance at TJ Maxx) and I was desperate to find a gentle cleanser without unnecessary ingredients or SLS before leaving on a trip. The only cleansers I’ve used for the last year or so have been LRP’s Toleraine in both the dry and oily formulas, depending upon my skin’s needs (they were on sale – buy one get one free, you understand).
Anyhoo, shortly after falling in love with the Timeless vitamin C serum, I read that niacinamide, like copper, is not compatible w/ vitamin C. Of course, Toleraine contains lots of niacinamide :/. So I will be using it only when I take breaks from vitamin C and/or on my body and 7 year-old son’s delicate skin. The benefit of this powder is that it contains no active ingredients that could interact with other products and is very gentle. It left my skin feeling clean & soft, but not at all tight or stripped.
It would probably be great for someone living in a dry climate, as a gentle morning cleanser (when there’s no makeup to remove) or after a peel, but I would not use this exclusively for fear it wouldn’t properly do the job. However, I did exactly that while on vacation and my skin stayed soft and clear. It even removed my makeup! Of course, it wasn’t forced to do the heavy-lifting, as it were, since I usually double-cleanse, using an oil-based makeup remover or micellar water prior to cleanser.
Although I chose the option stating I wouldn’t buy this product again, that’s only true under my current circumstances (living in a very humid climate). If I was specifically looking for a gentle powder cleanser, lived in a dry climate or was older and had more fragile skin, and could get it inexpensively again (TJ Maxx bargain bin), I probably would re-purchase. However, I’d probably transfer it into a large glass powder dispenser with a strong re-closeable seal. I hated having to pour this into my hand, as I always ended up with too much and worried about getting water into the bottle.

I was looking for a replacement for amore pacific enzyme powder and thought this would fit the bill. So wrong. The powder feels and smells like flour cos it’s corn starch! I basically spent a ton on a kitchen product. There was also bean granules, some of them look too sharp to be used on sensitive skin. Disappointed!

im obsessed with this exfoliant. I use it everday and it lasts longer then i imagined it would. i have sensitive acne prone skin and this helps keep it smooth and speeds up the healing process of my blemishes. I have already re purchased and i highly recommend to anyone who needs frequent exfoliation but cant tolerate most exfoliators out there!

Deluxe sample from Sephora, lasted many uses. I’ve reviewed another brand of this same premise. I just don’t get it. A separate exfoliating powder when I could just use my exfoliating cleanser a couple times a week? Just seems like another product that just clutters up my bathroom and costs way too much money to do so. It did leave my skin feeling very soft after use but my moisturizer can also do that. Other than that, it didn’t impress me.

I find this stuff to be great on sensitive skin that can react with abrasive products. The product feels like a chunky powder and with a small amount of water (or oil to add) turns into a paste that you apply to the face to get rid of dead skin cells. What’s interesting is that it really doesn’t “feel” like it’s doing its job but after you rinse the product off you definitely notice a difference. I feel like my skin is softer and less rough. The only thing I have to warn to everyone is if you use this product and change immediately to another exfoliator, be prepared your skin will not be impressed!!! I made that mistake with a salt-based scrub, my face was red and irritated for the majority of the day. Needless to say I won’t be doing that again! This product is costly but a little goes a long way, it’s good to give it a chance!

I have oily skin that is also sensitive, so I can’t use scrubs or peels. I used Amore Pacific’s version of this for several years, and loved it, but my skin was used to it, so I was no longer deriving any benefits from it. This is the same concept, except it doesn’t smell good or have the ingenious dispenser that AP’s version has. But this is almost half the price, and seems to work as well, so I am impressed.
EDIT 7/30/15: I’ve been using this scrub for a while now, and I won’t be repurchasing. There’s no way to control how much comes out, and it comes out in big clumps, so I am using it up too quickly. There are also dots of black in it, which makes it visually unappealing. And the smell is just unpleasant.

I have very sensitive skin that is prone to redness and irritation/inflammation.
I have tried a lot of scrubs to exfoliate my skin and a lot of scrubs have the tiny beads (even the most finest) will irritated my skin. I gave up on exfoliating my skin until I got a sample of this and fell in love and went back to purchase the full size.
PROS:
– does not irritate my sensitive skin
– powder form turns paste without the harsh beads (similar to the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant which is sold in some places and hard to get hands on)
– exfoliate and leaves my skin smooth and silky
– no strong scent
– great dupe for the Amore Pacific exfoliator (and less expensive than Amore Pacific).
CONS:
– wish there was a stopper so I know how much I need (Amore Pacific has the same powder texture except with a stopper so you get the right amount for the entire face ).
