So this is not a scrubby-scrub. For that, I go between two favorites: Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion kit and St. Ives Apricot. This is on the opposite end of the physical scrub spectrum.
I have to say that I like the packaging. It’s clean, unfussy and easy to get the last bit of product out. The flip top makes it easy to handle in the shower or one-handed as well. The product itself comes out as a thick cream filled with little “seeds” of scrubbies that begin to break down as soon as you start rubbing them together. This is the reason a lot of people don’t seem to like the scrub- the seeds break down before you feel like they are being abrasive on the skin. I get it- my two standbys have the sandpaper effect on my skin that is immediate. However, I have to say that this DID leave my skin feeling clean and actually softer. I didn’t use it as a cleanser (I use eye-makeup remover first), but in the shower after washing my face, I used a teaspoon of this daily and I just enjoyed it. I continued lathering it into my skin after the scrubbies had gone away and then washed it off.
As for the price tag ($29?)- well it’s relative. It’s a good product because it does exactly what it’s meant to do: live on the opposite end of the physical exfoliant spectrum from St. Ives which could really bother someone with sensitive skin. Paula’s Choice products tend to fall in this price range but there are always promo codes online- that’s how I got mine- and her sampling program is second to none. Get yourself a few sample packets and try it first. If you find it is really unpleasant or a waste, skip it. I finished my bottle and won’t repurchase because I am trying to cut back on my products overall and didn’t find this extraordinary enough to hold on to, but I wanted to give it a fair review.

I tried a sample of this, and it was okay. I have really sensitive skin and have trouble with a lot of chemical exfoliants. I thought I would try a physical scrub instead. It left my skin soft and smooth, but also a bit red. I think I will stick to a soft washcloth.

Oh dear! What is this product that I bought? Couldn’t figure if it’s supposed to be a cleanser or a scrub or something else.
I don’t think Paula’s Choice is a company that creates innovative products unlike more well known and respected companies out there.
I sometimes feel like their products are high school science projects. They think they made a good product but everyone else sees it differently. It’s like this kid in school that always put herself in good light, always boasting and arrogant but never really deliver – Paula’s Choice is like that: they just don’t produce the results that other companies can.
That would have been the least of everyone’s concerns, the problem is the way they market their products and the way they put down others.
At this day and age, bullies are frowned upon.

Ugh, I don’t know how to rate this product. Let me explain. Unscrubis supposed to be a gentle facial scrub that uses beads made from encapsulated jojoba that burst and dissolve with warm water and pressure. In that sense, I’m not impressed with Unscrub. I’ve used Unscrub several times and not found my face to feel smoother. As a facial scrub, two lippies.
As a facial cleanser, Unscrub is gentle and non-drying. Many facial cleansers dry out my skin or trigger my seborrheic dermatitis, and Unscrub doesn’t do that. I can’t use cleansers with SLS, which PC avoids, and do well with coconut-based cleansers, but I can’t decode the cleanser bases used here other than it contains soapberries. However, the cost is expensive for a cleanser. As a cleanser, four lippies.
Just a note for those that ding PC because Paula was previously against physical scrubs, I don’t see this product as going against that stance. Paula is against physical scrubs due to their causing micro tears in skin. Jojoba beads won’t do that as they will dissolve from mild pressure first. Of course, this won’t be a very effective exfoliant (chemical exfoliants will always be more effective, but not everyone can use those due to sensitive skin).

Paula’s Choice haven’t learned their lesson. They’ve been heavily critcized for producing products that Paula Begoun had initially critized well known companies for making.
They critized other companies for creating unnecessary eye creams, toners and one note products but they do all that. And now, in order to keep themselves relevant in the market, they have created a scrub! Something that Paula has critized other companies for (to put her own BHA/AHA products in good light).
Also, on their Beatypedia, they shamed other companies for coming up with innovative names for their products. They dismissed these and say that it’s nothing more than the basic ingredients. And now they come up with silly names like these to try to be innovative?
This scrub has a texture of a facial wash and does nothing special on the skin.
Paula’s Choice has gone downhill since trying to expand her business.
It’s a shame that there’s NO TRUTH IN BEAUTY in a company that talks about truth in beauty. They’re filled with hyprocisy and self preservation. Shame on you Paula Begeoun and Paula’s Choice.

This is a makeup remover and cleanser in one. It’s creamy with little grains in it. As a scrub it’s terrible. The grains get everywhere and don’t do any exfoliation. As a makeup remover it’s great. I usually cleanse with my regular cleanser after this. If not for the annoying grains, this would be a repurchase for me and 5 stars for a makeup remover.

This is a new product for PC. It’s supposed to be full of spheres of jojoba oil so that the scrub does not irritate your skin.
I found this scrub not worth the time. I applied like a cleanser without water and then rubbed it all around. Then rinsed. I still had scrubby beads on my face and stuck in my hairline.. My face felt soft but not invigorated like a lot of scrubs offer. The cleanser around the scrubby beads is nice but nothing special. Users have reported negatively that the beads break too early in the cleansing process. I didn’t find this but I have rosacea so not into scrubbing hard. After rinsing and applying my usual regimen, I still had flakes on my chin so ineffective for me.
Remember when Paula used to recommend baking soda with your cleanser? How far she’s come! and a very different soapbox now.
