DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN!!! I had a huge allergic reaction to this product the last time it was this bad I used a Mary K foundation I had little bumbs all over my face and down my arms and my face was super warm to the touch. The first time I used I was fine but once I put it on my face again it stung. It’s good if you don’t have sensitive skin my little sister loves it but it’s NOT for people like me with sensitive skin.

I stopped wearing foundation for a while, only occasionally. I started to wear it more often though, and I use the cover girl 2 in 1. I wasn’t really using primer, and it applied smoothly using a brush. I saw my twin had the elf blemish control primer, and it had claimed to help with acne using helpful ingredients. So I decided “hm why not?” But as soon as I started using it, my makeup wasn’t spreading correctly and was calling up. I thought maybe the brush just needed to be washed, so I switched to my beauty blender. It didn’t make too much of a difference, but I figured it was because it was so hot those days that maybe it was messing with the consistency of my foundation or something. But then today I was in a rush, so I skipped the primer, and my foundation applied flawlessly once again! I really wanted this primer to work so that I could be helping my skin while still wearing makeup, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I would still use this if I wear just using concealer on a few spots, or if I were to wear a light foundation. 🙂

I used this product for a long time when I didn’t know any better because I was just getting into makeup. It is fairly inexpensive, but as a lot of people have said, the packaging is really deceptive and you’re not getting very much product. I’d say it did okay on the ‘blemish control’ since I had no real breakouts when I used it, but as someone with oily skin, I could see my makeup sliding off my face within a couple hours! It was awful, especially in warmer temperatures. I guess for a beginner with drier skin it’s okay, but I’ll definitely not be using it anymore

Excellent primer—very moisturizing. My only complaint is that it runs out so quickly, even when you use it sparingly.

For $6 -and my tween DD begging – I figured “What the heck”.
Seems OK – it’s not as luxe feeling as smashbox – but it seems OK so far and has not broker her out.

This is deceptive. The packaging is 0.5oz for $6USD. So most products are 1.0oz. So you are paying $12 for 1oz on par w L’Oréal or Physicians Formula, more expensive than Rimmel, Maybelline or CoverGirl Outlast. The bottle feels substantial & has a nice hygienic pump. So I feel gypped paying $6 for 0.5oz they don’t need to make the bottle look bigger than it is. ELF is cruelty free which is awesome. Easily available at the DS’s that sells ELF. I would buy again. ELF has the best DS primers i can’t be too mad at them for their deceptive trickery. It protects the bottle if you drop it it won’t shatter. My fave is the elf illuminating “radiant” primer but I like this one. I keep buying it lol. It makes my makeup much better! So will definitely repurchase. I get mine at Kroger. The blemish control one comes in handy in summer when I’m sweating bullets. My moisturizer 1 of them has salicylic acid so it’s just an extra good thing I can put on my super oily skin & ev1s skin is diff but mine i can’t dry it out enuff so it’s cool it has S. Acid. My skin is the oiliest of the oilies.

You’ve tried one ELF primer….
Seriously. I was under-impressed with the regular ELF primer and gave it away. This one doesn’t perform any better.
The only reason I’m going to finish it is that it just doesn’t do to throw salycilic acid away. The acne figting ingredient here is 2% salycilic acid. I already incorporate this ingredient in my regiment in different (more cost effective per volume) ways as part of my regimen.
So, what you have here is like a love child between a salycilic acid lotion and a standard ELF primer.
And basically…it still doesn’t really work as a primer. It doesn’t extend foundation wear time or reduce oil production (my two main concerns).
So, I will use this as a lotion until it’s gone. Then I won’t be rebuying….any primers from ELF unless they start to do something dramatically different.

I really like this primer. Surprisingly affordable and works well to help my makeup apply smoothly. I had a couple of little pimples trying to come up and I think this did keep them at bay. I did require some oil blotting throughout the day, but this could be due to recent change in weather. I like it overall and would recommend to anyone. At this price, it’s worth a try. And the packaging is A plus. Very classy look and feel. No problems with the pump. Great packaging. Nice look.

I sort of bought this on a whim while at Walmart and I got the last one. E.L.F has 3 different primers, all geared to different needs and this blemish control primer is one of them. I wear foundation every work day of the week and after a long day of wearing makeup, I’ve noticed a tendency to break out lately — I don’t know if it’s hormones or the weather change or what, but my face has been breaking out. First of all, the color of the BOTTLE is a pale green — that is NOT the color of the primer, which I found a bit misleading. That color is often used to tone down redness and I just assumed the product was this color….it’s not, it’s white, but no worries. I put a thin layer on my face and then my foundation. I’ve been using this now for 2 weeks and I really like it! 1) It has completely cleared up my face and has prevented breakouts all together and 2) It’s effective at minimizing pores and cutting down on oil throughout the day which is what I expect a primer to do in the first place. It’s very inexpensive at $6.00, like all E.L.F. products. So if you buy it and don’t like it, you haven’t spent much to begin with. For me, this works and I will definitely buy it again.

Every primer I used has broken me out except for MAC prep and prime and this one. Unlike the MAC prep and prime the e.l.f. Studio Blemish Control Primer actually does something. I can’t say it made my makeup last longer because I haven’t noticed it doing so. I can say that with 2% salicylic acid it’s pretty effective in fighting blemishes. I used this over existing blemishes on my face under makeup and it helped. I also put this on my chest overnight to clear any chest acne and it has helped to clear it up very well. Won’t be repurchasing though. If it actually worked well as a primer it would be a different story, but as an acne treatment there are other products that are more readily available in the drugstore with the same active ingredient.
