I’m not understanding the negative reviews but everyone is different. Firstly, I love the Packaging, it looks Professional and way better than alot of High End Spray Primers are coming out with.
My only negative is it is Called Mist and it Sprays pretty heavy so I would spray further away from the face and tone it down with a beauty Sponge.. No big deal.
You can kind of feel it on your face for a little while after spraying but I appreciate this because I know the product is working. It locked in my look all day.
I find this to be an Excellent product and would purchase it again.

For the umpteenth time, I’ve picked an e.l.f. product with a decent formula but terrible packaging . . . When I say decent formula, I just mean this is a genuinely hydrating, lightweight spray that makes my skin feel nourished. It does virtually nothing as a primer; regular old moisturizer seems to work better under my makeup than this.
And to echo previous reviewers, definitely do not spray this directly on your face! When it comes to spray bottles, this falls firmly in the Super Soaker category — no gentle mist but rather an aggressive squirt that will certainly ruin your makeup if you use this to set it. The cap also falls off easily and the way the bottle is designed makes it look classy, but is deceiving when it comes to how much product you actually get.
I was able to salvage this as a light nighttime moisturizer, but ultimately, it’s not worth your money.

I’ve been using this as a toner. It will not prolong wear of makeup. As a toner, it makes my face feel smooth and plump. There is no noticeable scent and it doesn’t leave me feeling sticky. The bottle is nice. It’s plastic but doesn’t feel cheap. However, it is expensive for what you get. Cost per ounce Pixi Hydrating Mist is less expensive. Elf gives you a little over an ounce for $8. Pixi is $15 for almost 3 fl oz. Moreover, the elf spray is AWFUL. It’s really aggressive. If you sprayed this over makeup, you would ruin your face. I decanted it put it in another bottle. I’ve tried other Pixi mists and know they have a decent mister. Next time, I will purchase pixi over elf. If elf changes packaging and lowers price, I will reconsider.

Edited: I took off a lippie after realizing this is only 1 oz of product. The bottle leads one to believe there’d be 4 to 6 oz worth. Not a good surprise and now the price per oz seems ridiculous. I still really like the formula

This product is definitely not what one would expect. Regardless it’s turned out to be useful for me.
First of all, ELF Aqua Beauty Primer Mist is more of a skincare product than a traditional liquid make up primer. There is no velvet-y silicone finish or pore minimizing properties. I’d say it’s closest to being a toner. The ingredients are on par, and it dries down to nothing. You would think it’s just water. Dry skinned gals should probably skip this one if a hydrating formula is needed.
Now… I like ELF Aqua Beauty Primer Mist because it plays nicely with my foundation. I use it to sheer out a very heavy/matte/full coverage formula. Since the “primer” dries down to nothing, it doesn’t mess with the finish. Sometimes mixing a primer in will just cause foundation to get greasy fast. Not with this one. I just end up with a much more natural looking result.
There were a few ingredients that originally concerned me, such as the niacinamide and tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e). Both definitely have their place in skincare. But I am acne prone, and they typically break me out. However this surprisingly hasn’t caused any break outs. Which leads me to believe the content of the two ingredients is quite low, especially since it’s able to dry down to nothing. Vitamin e typically will not fully set/dry. If anything my skin actually really likes the formula. I noticed my rosacea is less apparent when I go to remove my make up at night.
One big flaw is the packaging. The mister makes it useless for applying directly to your face. Instead of spraying a fine mist, it comes out like a squirt gun. Since I’ve been mixing this into my foundation lately, that doesn’t matter to me. But for most people – I imagine this is a big con. You can’t use it to set or refresh your make up without getting your face drenched in concentrated areas.
I will repurchase.
