– comes in a sublime metal case
– will buy again and again despite the high price
– reminds me of Smashbox Halo in Light, but I prefer this

I also really like this color (warm silk). I wear it in the summer once I’ve had a little bit of sun. After even more sun, I switch to Larenim loose powder foundation in 1-C + Larenim light/medium finishing powder.
The rest of the year I use JI pressed powder in light beige. The light beige is very pink (great for my cool skin tone), whereas the warm silk has a bit more orange in it, though not a ton of it, so it’s great for cool complexions searching for something a little less pink than light beige.
With JI pressed powders in either shade, I use Larenim dusk ’til dawn as a primer on my T-zone (to control oil), and then top off with a finishing powder: a homemade recipe of two Larenim products: 3/4 light-med mineral silk + 1/4 sheer perfection. (The sheer perfection lightens the light/med shade of the mineral silk a bit and helps to control oil).
During the day, I use blot sheets once or twice and re-apply my finishing powder. I generally don’t re-apply the JI pressed powder foundation.
UPDATE Jul 2011: I recently switched to Zuzu luxe liquid foundation in L-3, and powder in D-7 or D-14, and prefer this to JI foundation (better coverage). I then use the JI beyond matte powder along with blot sheets to control oil during the day.

I can’t believe this color hasn’t been reviewed yet, given it’s the most popular one in the Jane Iredale MMU line. I have tried countless foundations over the years, but Jane Iredale’s is my absolute favorite in a pressed powder finish. It might be my favorite foundation in *any* finish because as my skin gets older, I find it more difficult to wear liquids.
I wear Ivory (neutral) in the cooler months and then switch to Warm Silk in the spring. It helps make me look like I am not as pale as I really am (fair, cool-neutral NW15), especially when I get a tiny bit of color on the rest of my body (but not my face, which I never tan).
The pressed powders provide such good coverage that I can often skip concealer. The powder completely covers the pinkness on my cheeks and chin (mild rosacea), and the finish is flawless. Best of all (and this is difficult to achieve, now that my pores are larger from years of oily skin) the makeup does not settle into pores, like so many of the liquids and creams do.
Jane Iredale was the first of its kind, and it is still the best in my opinion, as I have tried several other MMUs and have found them lacking. I’ve heard about users complaining about skin irritation and itching from the other mineral brands, but I have never experienced that with JI — even over completely bare skin. I don’t bother with primer. As for eye irritation, no problem. Sometimes I close them and sometimes I leave them open while I dust on the foundation with the Handi brush, and I don’t get any irritation.
My skin is oily in the T zone, and this powder stays fresh looking all day, without any color change. On sultry summer days, I might have to blot my nose once, but I otherwise don’t touch my face from the moment I put it on in the morning until I wash it off later that evening. And the color does not smear or transfer to my collar or to my scarves; it stays put!
I realize the powder is expensive, but it lasts a good six months or more, and I like medium to full coverage, so that gives some idea how I use it. Since I have no need for additional foundation or primers or concealers, I don’t consider the cost extravagant, especially with the new packaging where you can buy just the refills. If I need a bit of extra coverage, I take a small concealer or a foundation brush and layer on a bit extra around my nose or under my eyes. I love this product, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The pressed powder is the one makeup item in my entire collection that I have purchased again and again and again.
