I love the Koh Gen Do products and wanted to try this powder. As the other reviewer said, it’s crazy expensive. Normally I wear color 002 but it was not available in this powder so I went one up to 013. It actually is a decent match.
I have mature skin and I know that powder is usually the enemy for drier, more textured skin. However, I like to do a quick buff in of powder when I’m in a hurry or just out and about doing errands.
This powder actually works really well as an actual foundation on me. I moisturize well and then use Smashbox Primerizer. Then I use a kabuki brush and buff in this powder. The finish is of course powder like but doesn’t make my skin look dry. It’s just kind of blurred with a light to medium coverage. And it stays that way as the day goes on – doesn’t settle or look dry.
I like this powder on its own rather than as a setting powder. As a setting powder it does seem to make the foundation cakey, even with the Koh Gen Do Moisture foundation.
My favorite powder is the Jane Iredale pressed powder. I’ll try the Koh Gen Do for a bit longer before I’ll make a final decision on it.
Update: Great powder as a foundation. Not so great as a setting powder.

I got this as a sample and used it twice, so for long term use this won’t be helpful. I didn’t think it was particularly good or terrible. It didn’t have a negative effect on my skin.
It set my liquid foundation okay, but seemed to make the fine hairs on my face stand out more, especially around my nose. The coverage was okay. It’s a bit costly, and you have to buy the case separately from the powder.
I wasn’t impressed. I don’t think this is worth trying for its price.
