I wish there were a ‘Maybe’ option for “If you ran out or lost this product would you buy it again?” This is because I would like to answer no but I don’t know if I’ll find anything better so I’d resort to repurchasing.
I’ll start with a couple logistical things:
-The price is stupid. It’s $40 and I’ve been using it no more than a month and I’ve used up 1/2—3/4ths of the product.
Now, I use Mineral Hygienics as my foundation, if I wear any at all, and that is $25 for the about same amount of product (there’s .41 oz more in a large M.H. foundation than in this powder) and $20 for the small (which is only .3 oz less than this powder) and that even seemed like a lot of money to me, but because the product is made with such high quality materials I decided it was worth it. With this the quality is the same or at a similar level but I have to use a lot more of it at once AND it costs double the price. This is the biggest reason I don’t care to repurchase.
-The product is extra messy because they didn’t include something like M.H. or Bare Minerals in the packaging so you can seal up the holes the powder comes through when you’re not using the product. Other than that, no more messy than any other loose powder. I have discovered that a way to make things easier is to shake the container a bit upside-down (while it’s closed) and then unscrew the cap while the product is still upside-down. If you don’t use all the product in the cap you should replace it while upside-down, too.
Now for the things we REALLY care about in this product:
-It does help with shine for quite a while, I don’t feel like I need to reapply more than once a day and sometimes I don’t reapply.
-Wait a proper amount of time between moisturizer/BB/CC Cream/Liquid Foudation because if I don’t wait long enough after applying my CC Cream (Clinique Moisture Surge – Light) the powder sticks to it and makes my skin look patchy and awful and I have to wash everything off my face to look normal again. I generally just apply this when I get to work cause that allows 15-30 minutes for my skin to absorb the cream.
-It has almost no coverage. I’d say it has NO coverage but I do feel like it blurs my pores and makes blemishes appear a little more calm/less red. Trust me, you can still see everything but it just doesn’t look as “bad.”
-As far as the “blemish clearing” goes, I don’t know if it really does much. I’ve only been using this for a month or so and my acne has improved but that’s because I’m doing a lot of other things to help with it (such as a new birth control pill and a dermatologist prescribed topical). I haven’t noticed it make much of a difference but since it helps with oil I tend to feel less gross/it makes my spots feel a little drier and that helps, I’m sure.
I think that’s about it, I’ll let you know if my opinion changes or if I switch to a different one. I’m considering looking into one of the Mario Badescu Powders which have more acne-fighting properties and, I’m almost positive, have no coverage which is fine. If I want coverage I can wear makeup, for day-to-day my CC cream and a powder to keep my face more matte is enough.
