I think this is an interesting change from Nars’ traditional 6 pan cheek palettes because all of the shades are shimmers. Two are highlighters and at this point I am still not using highlighters regularly, but as these are part of the palette I highlight every time I use it and they compliment the blush shades. The 4 blushers start off sheer and the more I work them the more the color builds up and blending enhances it even further. Because of the combination of skin care products and foundations I use my skin always ends up with a glow and sometimes a matte blush clashes and looks flat so these help add dimension without overpowering.
The pans have a bit hardness on them that made the first use or two disappointing because my brush didn’t pick up as much product as I wanted and they felt stiff and chalky in the pan and I had to dig in. But now that I have broken through they feel softer and smoother and easier to pick up. I haven’t tried them wet yet, I feel I am getting plenty of intensity as is, but it’s nice to know I have something on hand that I could get my cheek bling on if needed.
I thought the palette itself would be chunky because of the texture on the lid but it isn’t and is the same thickness as my other Nars cheek palettes.
I don’t think this is a must have if you have some darker berry shades of blush in your stash as well as highlighters because you could always apply a sheer wash of blush and go over it with the highlight to get the same effect. But it’s nice to get both color and glow in one sweep and easier to mix across the pans to get more color options. If you are a Nars palette lover then of course you need it, lol.
