My 10 year old daughter and I were wandering around Ulta when it occured to me that I cannot remember when it was that I last bought Blush. I’ve been dotting my lipsticks on my cheeks or using lip/cheek products for so long, I’d forgotten how much fun Blush can be. My daughter saw this Blush Bar palette. She is a dancer, so she was immediately attracted to the “ballet barre” theme…not to mention the colors in this palette look so beautiful. The price is great for such a collection, but I talked myself out of buying it because “Dandelion doesn’t show up on me, Galifornia is pink and I don’t wear pink, Gold Rush and Rockateur look like the same color and they’re so shiny I’d look like an oil slick, and I already own Hoola…” My daughter said…”I think they would all look beautiful on you…and I might like to try them for my performances…”
My daughter? Interested in makeup? Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Clearly, this is a pursuit to be encouraged at any cost! So I bought the palette…and my daughter is right…these colors all look amazing on me! I use Dandelion as a brightening setting powder, and my daughter uses it for a very natural blush when she performs. Galifornia has enough “peachy” tones in its pink that it looks great with my skin. It is very “warm”, so it enhances my coloring. In fact, it’s my favorite blush right now! Gold Rush is like an intense version of the long-ago discontinued Georgia “peach” powder. It’s a gorgeous blush on me, and it’s not at all the same color as Rockateur. Rockateur is the blush that’s least attractive on my skin, but it looks good mixed with other colors, and it’s great for highlighting around my eyes. Hoola is a LONG long time staple bronzer for me…although it seems like it’s lighter in color than it used to be? Dandelion and Hoola are matte, which is fantastic for setting makeup. The others are shiny, but most of the shine is sprayed on top and it rubs off. After the shine is rubbed off, it’s easy to get good pigment from the colors. The colors are concentrated so a little goes a long way. This palette turns out to be a bargain for me. I am really enjoying every color and the case looks adorable on my vanity.
