HG nail file! Great product that lasts for years and just WORKS beautifully. Feels great in the hand, not cheap or flimsy, nicely balanced length. Price per use is very cheap, but bit pricey initial outlay, yet it lasts..
I have nails that are at times weak/bendy or peel or crack at the tips easily – so I need a file that’s gentle yet effective. They don’t wear out and are hygenic as they can be washed and dried quickly. The velvet slipcase it comes in isn’t much to rave about but at least it’s something and it does keep the file protected, I generally leave mine at home anyway.
I’ve tried a couple of other brands of these files (glass/crystal, some cheapies and some brand names) and they don’t compare to Manicare AT ALL. The others have felt ineffective, not as gentle, not as fast, feel worn out after a few uses and are inferior to the Manicare.
I’ve found it’s best to use feather light strokes and get the most perfect shape and length, all in very little time, less time than a regular metal file. The pointed tip makes getting into the edges and corners easy.
It could be my imagination but it seems this has a finer side and a slightly coarser side but perhaps not – either side is gentle enough.
What I really like about this file is a gentle pass along the underside of the nail edge keeps my nails from breaking as it repairs the slightest start of any snags or weak edges. I find it also helps disguise the tip wear a few days into a mani without wrecking the polish, because it is so gentle. I’m on my second file in about ten years, only because I misplaced the one I had. When I found it, it had snapped in half so I use this purely on my toenails now.

This is a great file. I’ve tried this and the Essie crystal files and this is by far my favourite.
It has a really smooth surface (much smoother than Essie) and does well on both natural and acrylic nails. I find with the Essie file my nail splits just like it does with normal files, but when I just use this one, I have no problems at all. I’m also using it on my mum and she’s noticed a significant improvement in her nails since; they’re actually growing for the first time in years!
I love the fact is has a grip area so that you’re not gripping the filing space and the pointed tip is also really handy. The only let down is the case which is flimsy flocked vinyl, but this would only really be a problem if you carried this loose in your bag. I keep my in my nail kit so it’s fine for me.
Definitely recommend this file and I’m going to buy another one soon to keep at work
