This moisturiser worked fine for me.
Since it is only SPF 15, I wear this only when I’m not headed out.
Besides, it causes my foundation to pile. So this one, for me, is only for ‘home’ use.
I’ve tried the regular one years ago that caused my face to sting and turn red.
This formula – gentle – worked fine for me.
I use 1 full pump, which is a lot. But it all absorbs soon enough and feels comfortable on the skin.
This one is great if you are looking for glowing skin as after a few hours, the skin looks shiny.
There is this healthy glow.
The star ingredient in this product is Niacinamide, that works well for me.
What I don’t like is the parabens in the product. But since I wear it only when I’m home in the day (which is rare), it is less bothersome for me.
I’ll stick with this until I can find a good anti-aging cream that is paraben free.

Olay’s Total Effects is their 2nd lowest priced Sub brand after the Classics Sub brand. Olay is famous for their pink beauty fluid launched since 1952 in South Africa.
It has since then been sold all over the world from many differently names from Oily of Olay to Oil of Ulan and Oil of Olaz.
In the early 2000’s Olay started with their total effects line which included in an efficacious amount of Niacinamide. Niacinamide is Vitamin B3 a wonderful multi tasking ingredients scientifically proven to reduce dark spots, most forms of pigmentation, decrease inflammation and increase skin’s immunity and barrier function. Also stimulates the synthesis of ceramides and essential lipids in the skin.
A very easy ingredient to formulate with Niacinamide is stable in light and air and doesn’t seem to reduce it’s efficacy when exposed to the elements like most potions and lotions in jars or pots.
Olay has nothing going for it other than Niacinamide, by that I mean it is the only thing they seem to formulate with. Other than their classics collection which seems to be the most decently priced products from them these days, Olay uses Niacinamide in every sub brand they own, in order of increased priced and sub brand they are Classics, Total Effects, Fresh Effects, Regenerest, Regenerist Luminous and Pro X.
The luminous collection is the only sub brand that uses different ingredients along with Niacinamide, it is Acetyl Glucosamine. A lightening ingredient that used in tandem with Vitamin B3 is shown to reduce discolourations and pigmentation quite well.It will take quite a few months for real noticeable results however, certainly not as fast if you had used Hydroquinone and Tretinoin. These latter drugs are much more effective and you will get better value and RESULTS out of your money.
Olay Total Effects Day cream gentle SPF 15 has a light lotion texture that will readily absorb from very dry to normal skins. I can see it being a problem for combination to very oily skins. The formula is fragrance free which is a big plus, as for active ingredients all it contains is Niacinamide, Panthenol and Vitamin E. The rest is all fillers, texture enhancers and preservatives.
SPF 15 is way too low for a day time moisturiser, unless your living in a part of the world with reduced sunlight, everyone should be using a day cream with SPF30 and above, that is the globally accepted standard.
I would like to see Olay venture into other territories other than Niacinamide, (notice their Olay Regenerist Packaging is similar to that of SK-II, P&G own both Olay and SK-II).
They should take example from Neutrogena and RoC and try start using retinol and retinoids, or at least Vitamin C, it takes more than one ingredient to tackle the many problems of skin. Also Olay is becoming more and more redundant for me these days, now that I can buy 10% Niacinamide from The Ordinary or Paula’s Choice for a fraction of the price.
If you must buy from Olay, stick to their cleansers, classics and Luminous range and only buy when half price.
I would not repurchase this product.

This is the second day after I bought this product and I won’t even be able to find out whether it works for me or not unfortunately.. This smells nasty. I hate to be a Debby-downer but this is the grossest. It smells like oatmeal that has gone bad & burnt hair. Affordable, but can’t stomach the scent. On to the next tester for me.

Wish i read the reviews before purchasing. After using this for a week or so,my face is now covered with skin colored bumps and acne.I regret paying so much for this product which i can’t even return.
Not to mention,if you are oily, stay away from this.

I like this product but it did not have such luck with my mom it caused her face to sting. But me on the other hand it is a saver I was suffering from dry skin but oily at the same time but now it it’s less oily. I love it but I recommend trying a sample first to see if it will be good on skin

I’m a big loyal fan of this. Nothing I’ve ever used can compare to this. I found this a few years back and used it for almost 3 years. During those three years, I’ve heard compliments about my skin being dewy, soft and seemingly poreless. I stopped using it for awhile and switched to another cream, which regrettably doesn’t give the effect as Olay did for my skin. I’m almost finishing up and current product and can’t wait to use Olay again.

I really really hated this – It is thick, sticky and greasy upon application, and made me break out!

This is the moisturiser that I always have in the cupboard – we all use it – my husband, son and I. I like to try more expensive brands that promise the earth and also cheaper brands that have received good reviews but this is the fall back day/night/everything cream that I boost with serums occasionally. Amazing, no nonsense, value for money product that I change for the one with sunscreen during the summer months. If there was one product that I had on a desert island – this is it for me!
