The afternoon began with a mini pamper session; I put the Garnier Moisture Bomb on at about 3pm for 15 minutes, as per the instructions on the package, and that night I woke up with a very itchy face. I put some cortisone cream on it and went back to bed. When I got up a few hours later, my face began to get red and swollen. Still very itchy, it also started to become painful, so by the afternoon I went into a walk-in medical clinic and got a prescription for antihistamines and more cortisone cream. The diagnosis was Contact Dermatitis. By the evening my face was so swollen I could hardly see out of my eyes, so we went to the emergency room and 5 hours later I was given another prescription for a week’s worth of antibiotics and one dose of prednisone (a powerful steroid) because the doctor couldn’t believe a commercial face mask could cause such a reaction. He suspected there was an infection developing. Barely sleeping that night, I had to get out of bed because my face was unbearable. Edema (fluid build up) was bulging under my eyes and if I touched my cheek, interstitial fluid eked out. So I went and saw a third doctor at another medical clinic the following morning and pleaded with her to help me. She told me to continue with the antibiotics and to take one prednisone for 4 days. She confirmed the diagnosis was Contact Dermatitis.
It took 10 days for my face to heal and there has been some permanent damage to parts of my face as a result of this. My eldest daughter, who has been urging me to change my makeup and beauty products for years, contacted Garnier and told them what had happened. She also did some research and discovered that there were others out there who had the same reaction to this product. After much back and forth, L’Oreal (Garnier) offered to pay for my medication, which was around $40, but did not want to acknowledge the pain and suffering that I had experienced.

I just got this so I will provide an update later but Wow! This is the best facial moisturizer I have ever used! My skin is combination tending more toward the dry side as of late. Think parched, rough, and flaky (yet somehow developing a greasy film in humidity). Normally, I just cannot for the life of me get my face to absorb any moisture. Most creams/lotions/serums just sit on top of my skin and don’t do a thing. Moisture Bomb’s gel-cream formula though penetrates and makes the skin plump, supple, and baby soft! The first night I was so excited feeling the change in my skin that I kept touching my face in disbelief and could not sleep haha.
The consistency is a gel-cream formula and a little goes a long way. My skin tends to be sensitive and this did not sting or irritate it in any way. The ingredients in it are amazing and available in high end products. Just look up hyaluronic acid and see the studies for what it can do for your skin. Hyaluronic acid (which is listed as sodium hyaluronate in the ingredients) holds like 1000 times more water than its weight (I believe). As we age, it declines so we need to replenish our bodies with it.

This product absolutely DOES moisturize. The problem is, it doesn’t absorb well, it rolls up into tiny rice grains when you try to apply makeup.

It feels like it doesn’t do anything. It blends in easily and texture is thin and watery, but it doesn’t feel like it gives a lot of moisture. I haven’t noticed an improvement in my dryness since using this, and sometimes I apply multiple times a day because my skin feels so dry. It does feel nice and refreshing going on, and it doesn’t break me out, but I wouldn’t buy it again.. there are better moisturizers out there.

This is a great moisturizer for my oily skin. It gives me moisture, not grease. Some other moisturizers break me out because they are too heavy. This one is good. Just wish it came in a pump and was cheaper.

This irritated my skin and made it very itchy. The packaging said its noncomedogenic, but I just couldn’t wait to wash my face when I used it.

I liked everything about this gel-like lotion–no scent, cooling feel, not oily–until I put my makeup on and it pilled all over my face! Ugh! I had to start all over again. I guess it’s okay if you don’t wear makeup, I could recommend this, but if you do, steer clear. Oh, also it comes in a glass jar. I’d prefer a pump which is much more sanitary.
