I decided to get the light version for my face based on the good reviews of the original cream version of skin food. Had high hopes, but this really is one of the worst lotions I have ever tried on my face. I have dry acne prone skin, and this massively clogged my skin. The texture is also greasy and does NOT sink into your skin. I do have to say that my skin did feel moisturised for longer. Anyhow, I could see within 1-2 days a lot of new blackheads (that eventually a few got inflamed and became large pimples). Stopped putting it on and eventually the blackheads stopped popping up. A few months later when my skin was feeling drier than usual, I decided to use this again, with the same results of new blackheads on my chin and nose. Since it wasn’t that cheap I then decided to use it as a hand cream, which wasn’t great because it really doesn’t soak into your skin at all and you’re left with greasy looking hands which transfer (like oil spots) on to things you touch. Avoid this one. Maybe the cream one is formulated better? I don’t know but I’m literally scarred by this lotion and don’t want to find out.

Plastic package is not ideal but the overal product is great. I love the natural scent and how it soaks into my dry skin! Suitable for use on the face and body. Available in Sprouts and some Target stores!

I had high hopes for this since so many people seem to like this product. I chose the lighter version since my skin is slightly oily yet dehydrated. It was ok going on the skin, but didn’t work well when applying makeup. I don’t feel that it added hydration to the skin and the smell was something I could not deal with. It has a citrusy scent, which I normally enjoy, but it was pungent and overpowering for me. I used it for about 2 weeks but could not use the rest and just tossed it.

Amazing! I’ve been using this as a moisturizer for the last few months since it’s turned cold, snowy and dry. This stuff is incredible. It smells like the original skin food (I love the scent, like citrus and herbs), and whereas the original has an ointment-like consistency, the ‘light’ version has a mid-heavy cream consistency. After cleansing, I use a hyaluronic acid serum, then spread a small pea-sized amount between my palms and moisturize my face and neck. The cream is very emollient and spreadable, and my skin just drinks it up. Oddly enough this cream doesn’t make my skin oily, which is strange, considering that almost everything else does. It also doesn’t break me out or clog my pores, which is also a huge bonus. I’m liking the light version even better than the original, which is saying a lot.

I have combination to dry skin. It’s not moisturizing enough on its own for dry/ combination skin. With that said, it’s not that it’s not moisturizing at all but it’s not really going to do a great job at moisturizing dry/ extra dry and flaky areas.
Perhaps if you have normal or oily skin, it will be fine for you.
I also don’t like the scent. It’s similar to the Weleda Skin Food (original).
Other that that, the price is just ok (about £7.95 for 30ml which last about 1,5-2 months of every day use), it has natural ingredients and personally, it doesn’t break me out.

Love, love, love this stuff. I found the regular Skin Food too heavy for the hot, humid climate I live in, but this is perfect. Ultra moisturizing, but sinks in without leaving the greasy residue the original formula did. My only complaint is it’s a bit pricey for the amount you get, but luckily a little goes a long way. Whenever my skin is feeling particularly parched, this is what I find myself reaching for. I’ll definitely repurchase.

When I first got the normal skin food moisturizer which is a bit too rich for me, I got a sample of the skin food light. Which I tried as well, and I was obsessed with the sample that I ordered the moisturizer directly!
The smell is amazing! So natural and flowerily which I love, if you’re not a fan of a scent like this, then this might not be the moisturizer for you…
You’ll see that the texture is entirely different from what the rich one is…it’s more liquid’ ish and spreads out much nicer and easier.
The best part though is that it’s soaking in directly! Which wasn’t the case for the normal one… and that’s the most important part for me! It soaks in + moisturises my face the whole day and keeps my skin fresh and dewy.
The moisturizer works beautifully under makeup, and the foundation just sits so lovely on the face which is essential for me as I wear it every day!
I can’t think of any negative points as it does a fantastic job on my skin and it keeps my skin healthy, and for some reason, I think it brightens my under eye area as well if I only apply it on there and then go to bed.
Love it!
