As all the cool kids use to say, this is my bae. Or something like that.
Tbh, I have never been very into the whole skincare business other than finding a moisturiser that doesn’t break me out. But what about spots and acne prone areas? Not that much. Well, not until I decided to google-fu it and found out that salicylic acid is what cleans out pores and stops pimples in their merciless attack on an otherwise flawless face. Since I live in Japan, I decided to see what Japanese people use at the local drug store and lo and behold, I found the DHC line for Acne treatment and prevention. At only 1000 yen for 40ml I decided to give it a shot and I am so happy that I did.
Pros:
+ Had a big neck pimple when I tried it on. These bastards usually stay weeks but with this used as a sort of spot treatment it was gone within 2 days.
+ After I began using this on acne prone areas I haven’t had a single pimple there. Even if it pops up during the day when I wear makeup I can use the milk in the evening and it’s gone the next day.
+ Doesn’t need much to cover big part of the face. No, it doesn’t moisturise my face, but I can compensate for that with other stuff. This has one purpose and one purpose only and it fixes it beautifully.
Cons:
– The smell, but well, it IS salicylic acid and fragrances might just irritate the skin.
– Not enough to work as a moisturiser but I don’t mind.
– Only 40ml might not last that long. Been using mine every night about a few weeks now and it’s already half empty.
All in all, will repurchase in future.

The salicylic face milk works great for me. It helps prevent new and clear up existing breakouts if I use it every night. I like it better than the Epionce Lytic lotion, which costs twice as much. While I don’t find this product very moisturizing, it does not irritate or dry out my skin the way some hydroxy acid products do. It contains 2% salicylic acid, which seems high. Still, I doubt the product would be strong enough for someone in their teens or twenties suffering from oily and problematic skin. The product information indicates it can be used for acne and wrinkles so DHC is likely targeting women in their 40s and 50s.

I like the texture of this for treating acne–it’s light, not greasy, and can be rubbed in. However I wouldn’t use it as an all over facial moisturizer–it’s too light/white so not for the whole face under makeup. Instead I just put it on my pimples and it works great as a night spot treatment that’s not too drying.

Overall as a moisturiser it absorbs well into the face. For preventing acne, or reducing the appearance of scars however, I didn’t feel like this product particularly helped. If you have troubled skin then I recommend something stronger to clear the skin.

Sticky on application, then leaves my skin pretty shiny and oily after some time. Probably it worked for other people with oily skin but not for me at all. My skin couldn’t handle it alone so no question of wearing it under/with something else.

I like DHC Deep Cleansing Oil so I wanted to like this product. I have been using Aveda’s Acne Balancing Oil, which they have discontinued (so mad!!!), so I was looking for something comparable to it – it gave me great skin. I used the face milk for a week and I broke out with hard, pus filled bumps on my face. I’m guess I’m allergic to one or some of the ingredients. What I did like about it, however, is although it has a thin consistency when you put it on your face, it morphs into the really emollient moisturizer, hence the 2 stars. Too bad it broke me out.

i am not sure if I got a defective product, but this bottle smells really bad. It’s like putting insecticide on my face. apart from the horrible smell, well, i can’t complain that it breaks me out or doesn’t do its job. It’s just that the smell is intolerable. this is the only product in this range i won’t repurchase.

I received the kit for FREE to try, I figured I have nothing to lose right? Well I have oily/acne skin type and this product is waaay to moisturizing for my skintype. The consistency and feel of the product kind of defeats the purpose of this line being geared toward ACNE. I am very dissapointed in this new lline, after hearing such great reviews of DHC. The facial cleanser is okay I suppose, no heavy residue, a little fragrant. The Toner is moisturizing but doesn’t do anything for current blemishes. The facial milk (ugh), makes my skin SHINY! and is def not clearing my existing pimples. The spot treatment doesnt work.Period.

This is one of the best moisturizers for oily/acne prone skin I have ever tried. I’m on my second bottle and I’m sure I’ll buy again. I LOVE the trexture and the fact that it does not dry my skin out. On the contrary. When I use full-cover, long-wear fdts (EL’s Double Wear, Clinique’s Superfit Makeup, the new oil-free version, etc.), I get that dry, masky look. This milk prevents that from happening. Especially under Superfit MU, I get a beautiful finish. Even with setting powder (which no oily-skinned gal should do without … if you really want your fdt. to stay in place). I use this under everything. I have some high end creams that I like, but that make be break out. Not with this stuff under them. I find it nothing short of amazing. And such a good price. Guess just comes to prove that not everything works for everyone. Luckily for me, this is my HG. 🙂

This is an okay product for those with acne-prone skin. I should say that I didn’t use the complete line, which DHC recommends for best results. It has a light milky consistency and it made my skin tingle a bit. My daily routine consisted of cleansing with DHC Pure Soap, then using the DHC Balancing Lotion and moisturizing with the Salicylic Face Milk. It really helped to fade past acne scarring and it did not dry my skin out. It did not like that my skin felt rough and bumpy the entire time I used this product (2 months). I would not buy this product again. As I said I didn’t use the complete line and that have affected the results I got. However imho it’s overkill to use every single product of a line, especially one that contains Salicylic Acid as it tends to dry the skin out.
