I’ve had dehydrated skin for as long as I can remember, both dry and oily, sensitive and acne prone, with premature fine lines. And to top it off this year I started to develop rosacea on my cheeks and, weirdly, above my eyebrows.
I’m pretty careful about what I put on my skin and don’t normally like to combine products. I bought this not really understanding how it works and applied it like a moisturiser. It made my skin feel greasy and clogged and I relegated it to the back of my bathroom cabinet. However, I later realised it must work more like a barrier to keep moisturiser in rather than imparting any hydration by itself. Now I have embraced the concept of layering products, wonderful things have happened to my skin.
After each time I wash my face, whether AM or PM, I use this on top of the Niod eye treatment and the Ordinary hyaluronic acid. My skin now feels like velvet, it’s plump and hydrated and lines that had started to form have disappeared again. Best of all my rosacea is in remission and I’ve had no break outs in ages. It’s almost like I have ‘good’ skin. I keep waiting for my skin to start rejecting something but it’s been a few months now and still no problems. It’s almost too good to be true!
I wonder how this will fare in warmer months as it seems quite rich, though not at all greasy unless you over apply. Not much is needed, a jar will last me well over a year, so although initially expensive it’s still good value.
I use the ordinary coverage foundation and thanks to this it spreads and blends so well I only need a single drop for my whole face. Delightful stuff.

This stuff works. I have been searching for a product that would minimize the fine lines under my eyes and this does it. I noticed immediately when i use this, my concealer never sinks in to my lines. I swear by this product. It might be too moisturizing for my entirw fave during this very humid weather of Valencia this summer but i dont mind. My skin looks amazing with this. Its not the typical moisturizer we are all used to as this very silicone-y but the type of silicone is actually good for the skin.
I love this so much that i wanted to purchase a back up immediately (the one in the tube in 100ml) because theres a promotion going on in one of the online retailers; but i stopped myself because i dont even know how long im going to use the 50ml bottle for because a little goes a long way.
Dont put on too much as i think thats the reason why people experience flaking on their makeup. Ive never experienced it since i only use a little bigger than a pea size amount.

Great occlusive to keep my skin hydrated and perfect silicone-like primer for my mineral makeup. This doesn’t actually add moisture but seals it in, preventing trans-epidermal water loss like an absolute boss. Over time, it has dramatically improved the look and feel of my skin, plumping it and reducing Winter flakes in the best possible way.
The packaging is just the worst though, ugh. I don’t mind having to use a spatula to get it out of the jar, but whyyyyy is it it a tall jar with an awkward neck? Really Deciem, I get that you like your clinical, sciencey-looking packaging, but please. Just stick this in a tube. Great product though, I won’t stop buying it just because of the annoying jar. Love it.

Bought this as part of package set deal last November during the Black Friday sale. On paper it looks like its chock full of great ingredients. However, I don’t find it that hydrating on my mature skin. The texture is very siliconey feeling, more like a primer.
Also, the packaging is weird, it comes in a small jar with a screw top. You’re supposed to use a special small spoon which I don’t have so I end up having to dip my fingers into the jar.
I’ll continue to use it up but don’t plan to re-purchase.

I’ll start with what Hydration Vaccine doesn’t do. It doesn’t irritate my skin. It doesn’t feel greasy or have a strong fragrance (or really any noticeable scent). It doesn’t cause my undereye concealer to crease. It doesn’t feel sticky. So it’s been a good moisturizer for my sensitive, combination skin. NIOD recommends using it after water-based serums. I generally apply it after The Ordinary Buffet or Hylamide Sub-Q Anti-Age. It doesn’t cause me to break out, however; some users with acne-prone skin have said in reviews that HV caused whiteheads to develop. Luckily I haven’t had any problems with it, which means it’s probably safe for normal-to-dry and combination-to-dry skin types.
I like to use this as my daytime under-eye moisturizer. I apply Hydration Vaccine to clean skin, then Maybelline Age Rewind concealer, and set with Charlotte Tilbury’s pressed powder. This keeps the area under my eyes looking like skin instead of makeup. However, I don’t like the way HV looks under Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation. I’d rather use a primer for that.
HV is an interesting concoction. NIOD’s literature mentions Fungi Composite Organisms, an Adaptive Flexo-Silicone Mesh Complex, Blue Algae Molecular Film, humectant molecules, and other technologies which sound impressive and help justify the cost. I won’t complain about spending $55 on this because I use very little per day and the bottle has already lasted several months.
Like other reviewers, I am not fond of the pill bottle packaging. For an extra $2.50 I purchased the NIOD stainless steel spoon to go with it. The tiny spoon is great. It allows me to measure the product and it’s useful for digging the last bits out of the bottle when it gets low. But I wish Hydration Vaccine came in a tube.
I haven’t noticed a dramatic, life-changing difference in my skin from HV, yet I’d be willing to buy it again. I did experience a noticeable improvement when I started using The Ordinary Buffet. My skin felt and looked healthier. So far Buffet is my favorite product under the Deciem umbrella (and it’s much more affordable).

I have used HV for a few months, but am not too impressed. The texture is very strange, it spreads unevenly and I don’t feel any benefit over my (more comfortable) old moisturizer gel. The pot is also not very friendly to use. Not a bad product per se (no reaction on my sensitive skin), but no must-buy either, there are better options.

I purchased the hydration vacine because I simply must purchase every new product to promise youthful less lines skin. Hey if it promises to turn back the skin aging clock I’m there. So I purchase from the Deciem site and waited for its artival. I use this thick gooey wonder paste every morning. I cleanse than add the skiinCeuticles C E Ferulic 15% next is the HHA (also by NOID) than onto my belived Sunday Reily Good Genes. Let it all soak in and on goes the wonder goop! I love it! It has made an extreme difference in my skin. I have also not needed any of my primers as this does so much more then a primer could ever do. Even the Becca backlight primer is low quailty in comparison. My Algenist pore perfecting primer at $48. cant even come close to this wonderful can’t live without product. So as it turns out my skin looks Fabulous! I have discovered the best primer ever (especially since it is not marketed as a makeup primer) My skin does look younger! It looks younger because it is moisturize from the inside out. Not just covered with a grease coat to disguise the dryness and lack of hydration that occurs as we age. Yup this stuff really works and I will never be without it! Its s great product from a up and coming science based company.

I am in my early 30’s and have sensitive, acne-prone, combination skin. I purchased hydration vaccine as a heavy duty moisturizer.
When applied, the feel and finish of this product is lovely! However, it clogged my pores and gave me whiteheads! I think this product works well as an occlusive and wish that I could use it. But it is certainly not for acne prone skin. I will look into this again in 10 years when hopefully acne is no longer an issue.

I have used Hydration Vaccine for two weeks now and I’m impressed with the results. I wear it in the morning under my sunscreen and find that it works admirably as an additional layer of moisture and barrier to fight against further moisture loss. The spring weather in Finland is dry and windy and the bright cold sunshine brings every fine line visible in HD effect on my papery white winter dry skin.
The product is annoyingly packaged in a small glass bottle and I use a tiny spatula to scoop out the product. I only need the tiniest amount to cover my entire face and it glides on easily. The smell is intially quite bad and the product itself is gel-like brownish goo, but neither is noticeable after application. The feel is pretty much like a silicone primer, but it doesn’t break me out or cling to dry patches. Nor does it sting in drier areas or close to the eyes. Immediately after application I get a lovely slightly matte smooth poreless look that primes the skin for sunscreen and foundation like nothing I’ve ever tried before.
My face lacks moisture, so greasy creams have not been an ideal solution for me and lighter lotions have mostly left my skin feeling tight and patchy with occasional rough spot and flakes thrown in for good measure. If you are like me, this might be just the thing.
I use feathery light strokes of a brush or lightly tap my face with a sponge to apply foudnation, any rougher action makes my skin red and all the flakes stand up. I haven’t noticed any issues with applying foundation over Hydration Vaccine, but this feels like it might cause some pilling if you are not careful.
I have a wide selection of foundations with different finishes and after testing most of them with Hydration Vaccine I can say that they all look better with this. Especially foudnations that are on the drier side and previously have been on my shit list for winter use glide on like a dream over this product. Yesterday and today I have worn the Nars Sheer Glow and I think I finally understand what the hype is about regarding this foundation. I glow, whereas before my skin looked way too matte, masklike and dry with this foundation.

A bit of an unusual product this, but absolutely worth a try if – like me – you suffer from dehydrated skin either during winter or when in air conditioned environments.
It’s a waxy, slightly yellow looking paste with a matt finish and a faintly pleasant slightly floral scent. You layer it over any serum or toner you use and underneath any oils or moisturisers.
The key thing is its a silicone based product – The NIOD website explains why they’re honestly not a bad thing, but I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s got used to believing that slightly greasy feeling they give was going to make me break out, but I’m on my second bottle now and it really doesn’t!
Anyhow, when it’s on, it leaves an additional layer of comfort to my skin. I won’t lie and say I don’t need to top up or re-moisturise at all on days when I wear it, but it does make a massive difference, and everything feels a lot more comfortable, without looking shiny or greasy.
In summer or on days I’m not working in an air conditioned office I can do without it, but it makes enough of a positive difference that it’s snuck into my regular skin care routine.
So there you go, hope it’s helpful! Definitely worth a try if you’re struggling with tight skin a few hours after moisturising. It’s on the pricey side and – if forced – I could live without it, hence 4 out of 5 stars. The little jar it comes in isn’t the very best packaging either, but you can’t have everything.
