   Like reviewers below, this is an effective barrier cream to help sore and irritated skin to heal – the ingredients reveal a good mix of humectant and moisturising substances, as well as oat-derived soothing ones too. Wounds heal faster in clean, moist conditions, and this cream reflects that. It uses shea butter as the base, which is an effective occlusive moisturiser to “trap” hydration beneath it – but sadly, behaves like it’s highly comedogenic on me despite officially being classed as a non-comedogenic substance. When used on my t-zone it invariably causes clogged pores over time, which diminish when not used. For this reason, it’s not ideal as an all-over healing cream, at least for me, but when applied only to problem areas this unwanted side effect is greatly reduced. So, things like scratches, pimples I’ve attacked, minor sunburn around the eyes – I’ll apply a small amount with a cotton bud and I do find it helps stuff heal faster, at least to get to a point where it’s possible to cover it with make-up a little better as it’s very moisturising.

   I also like the packaging, a squeezy tube with a narrow tip – helps protect the product inside from excessive contamination or breakdown of substances sensitive to light. Simple and effective.

   This isn’t my go-to healing barrier cream because of its tendency to break me out, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad product – for very dry skin, or more mature skin, this stuff is great. My aunt absolutely loves it and always has a tube of it stashed somewhere, and will use it after chemical peels or laser facial treatments while her skin heals. It also has no mineral oil in it – so for the minority of people intolerant to it, this is a good alternative provided shea butter doesn’t break you out. As for myself, I prefer Cicalfate from Avene for my facial skin but for small injuries on my body, I like this one better. Like sore ingrown hairs I removed with pointy tweezers on my inner thigh or scratched insect bites. It isn’t the cheapest product out there, but does do what it claims to do for the most part so I’m not too bitter about its price as I do see definite positive effects on damaged skin.

   I don’t find this very moisturizing because it is thick and kind of sits on your skin (if you rub it, it rolls in little balls which i hate)

   However, I love this cream because i use it everytime i have a scab or a dry patch and it repairs my skin in just a couple of days. As a dermatillomaniac, i often find myself picking on my skin, ending up with little scabs or red inflamed skin. This cream helps repair my skin like a dream. I dont really like it as an eye cream as suggested because it is not very moisturizing (i tried it and found it to be drying)

   If you suffer from eczema, dermatillomania like me or just hate having scabs, this will be a good choice for you. The price is great and it is effective. I would look elsewhere for moisture, however.

   This product is simply amazing! I often get really dry, itchy eyelids, that are sensitive to just about everything.. except this. This hydrates, cools and protects my eyes. I will keep buying this stuff until they discontinue it.

   Love this stuff. It goes on matte but hydrates skin. There are times when face creams with oil sit on top of my skin without penetrating or addressing dryness. The humectants in A-Derma AHR help heal sore skin. This is my go-to product for treating dryness / sensitivity caused by actives (AHA, retinoids etc.). I get even better results mixing this with a touch of Aveeno cream (regular body cream) or applying Aveeno or LRP Lipikar moisturiser on top as an occlusive barrier. It doesn’t seem to break me out.
   Works well under lipstick (lip balm affects finish/ longevity of colour) and as an eye cream, because it isn’t greasy. Nice packaging, fits in my bag. Price is good — I don’t buy expensive creams / lotions.

   This is one of the little gems that I will be forever grateful that my chemist recommended. As other reviewers have mentioned, it’s a lightweight shea-butter based barrier creme with hyaluronic acid. I initally got it to fight off eczema on my forehead, which it did wonderfully, but it also turned out to be a really good eye creme AND a great mid-weight moisturiser for use with sunscreen cremes for face. If your skin can handle the high shea butter content, you will love this.

   It’s very light and creamy, comes out of the tube from a tiny hole, so really easy to dose. On my fingers it feels a little greasy, but when I put on my eyes it’s just sooo soothing.

   The versatility of this creme is impressive. I like this as a moisturiser with something else on hot days (with hydrating foundation or with hyrating sunscreen) or in a thick layer overnight. And I love to use this after a night out with heavy eye makeup, or whenever my eye area is really dry. It’s also really good for sunburns, dry lip area, allergic reactions, exzema of course and all other types of dry, flaky skin.

   I am so impressed with the Aderma brand, I LOVE the exomega emollient creme, the cleansing oil and now this. If you are in Europe, this is around 9-11 euros for 40 ml, which I find very reasonable.

   I see a lot of people saying this stuff is expensive, but I got a really cheap deal on an online chemist with free shipping all the way to NZ. I thought this would help repair the irritated skin I have on my face from eczema. I’m glad I didn’t pay a lot for this though as it really upset my sensitive skin, I believe it was the hyrulonic (sp?) acid that didn’t agree with me – so I’d recommend getting a sample for those of you with sensitive skin. I’m using this on my chest/neck/arms (which it doesn’t irritate) as I figure I’m getting a wee bit older every bit of care will help!

   HOW DOES IT PERFORM? This is a light moisturizer that would work well for the eye area or for flaky patches (nostrils, neck etc.) but it is likely too thin to provide serious moisturizing. The high glycerin and hyaluronic acid content of this makes it especially valuable in more humid climates for plumping up the eye area as these humectants can attract and maintain water at the site of application. The price is a bit high for what you get and Americans will likely have to import this as the A-Derma line (created by Laboratoires Pierre Fabre, the same pharmaceutical company that created Avene, Ducray, and others) is not sold in the US.

   A fairly simple barrier repair cream. Sensitive-friendly, unfragranced. Principal actives: (water), shea butter, glycerin, squalane, cyclomethicone, some standard emollients, oat flour and oil, hyaluronic acid. Full ingredients at end of review.

   It’s now allergy season plus eczema and general skin unhappiness are back full force, this being a stressful time of the year on the work front. I bought this for all-over use (on flaky patches), which have actually settled down nicely and fast between this and Exoméga.

   Not much to describe: a fairly lightweight cream, white, in a tube. Easy to apply. Sinks in fast, keeps skin moist, soothes irritation, sticks down the flakes, calms itching, and my scaly patches just WENT, very fast indeed.

   Also worth looking into if you don’t want to use mineral oil-based products, for whatever reason: this is one of the very few proper barrier repair creams that not only isn’t mainly mineral oil or petrolatum, but contains none. (Having said that, straight-up mineral oil and Vaseline still inhabit our “emergency skin disaster” boc..)

   Try it if you like shea butter but have difficulties with application–so easy to over-apply, migrates, and on me anyway neat shea turns the rest of my face into zit central.

   The great news about Epithéliale: not only is it a good (albeit slightly pricey) face cream, it’s a stonkingly brilliant (and cheap!) eye cream.

   UPDATE (11/2010): good as a top-up cream on dry areas on face, now we’re into cold dry weather.

   Fragrance-free, UPDATE but not cruelty-free, sustainably-produced, otherwise decently ethical company (Pierre Fabre group). Costs around CAD 17.50 – 22.00 for 40 ml, in drugstores here plus available online.
