Moisturising, slight sheen but only very slight finished to some of my other sunscreens. I love the scent of this and the fact that it fades after a while. Easy to wash off and doesn’t become a greasy mess throughout the day. I do have drier skin though so I’m not as prone to oiliness.
Amazing list of antioxidants, would repurchase on that alone. But sadly can only use this on days I’m only going to the grocery store or somewhere really close to home (which is a shame as this is the favourite moisturiser sunscreen on my shelf currently (others are aveeno spf 30, invisible zinc – only for beach lol, and other full-on sunscreen-only sunscreens).
If they amp the spf up to 50+ or even at LEAST 30, I use this 5x as much. Sun can be pretty intense in Australia so spf 18 is a bit of a joke.

I bought this as a winter alternative to the SPF 30 BB Cream. I prefer the BB (tinted), which is a little too much color for my pale winter skin. This is fine- it’s a great daytime moisturizer, just the right consistency and totally does the trick. Absorbs well, makeup goes over it easily. It’s a low maintenance pal to have around. I just prefer the BB Cream- it’s more moisturizing and has better SPF, and now that I can find an untinted SPF 30, that’s going to be my winter daytime lotion.

I love this stuff! It uses mostly natural ingredients and does not cause me to break out unlike some other sunscreens/sunblocks that I have tried and it contains anti-aging ingredients to boot! I found it in pharmacy section of my local supermarket and couldn’t be happier with it though it is a bit expensive.
Update 6/3/17–still really loving this sunblock!!!! I am using the semi custom gel creme from Tonique to have that flawless look without makeup (not really a fan of foundation) and I put this sunblock on over it in the daytime and it works every time! Not even the slightest hint of tanning! Love it!
Update7/17/18–not sure why but this sunblock is breaking me out now :(. It was great for moisturizing while it lasted and it did help me not to tan.

I already bought my second one. But I use this on my neck which is an area that is important to care for and protect from the sun too. I tried using it on my face before. I will say this is a good basic moisturiser, SPF is a plus. I love the texture as it sinks in well and does not feel greasy, unlike lots of products out there I will not have mind using this on my face at all except it is not moisturising enough for my mature skin and does not help with minimising the appearance of lines.
So if you are looking for a good basic moisturiser with SPF and have normal or combo skin that is not prone to dryness, I will recommend giving this a try.

Wearing a daily moisturizer containing SPF (along with limiting sun exposure) is one of the best ways to avoid premature aging and wrinkles. Since my early 20’s, I used Lancome skin-care products until I developed a sensitivity to one of the ingredients about two years ago. My sister-in-law recommended the Andalou Naturals brand for me to try.
I absolutely love this moisturizer cream! It has a plesant fruity scent and rich texture that goes on without any greasy feel. I even use it on my upper body if I’m going to be outside in the sun for a moderate period of time, because I dislike the sticky-ness of typical sunblocks.
The only downside to this is that the SPF is only 18, so while it’s adequate for everyday light protection, it’s certainly not enough for a trip to the beach or if you’re going to be outdoors in the sun for hours at a time.

I really really like this lotion. It has a lovely silky feel and feels great to put on the skin. It has a light citrus scent. The only reason why I wouldn’t repurchase this is because I heard this does not have very good UVA protection. It would be nice option for those with combo skin for the winter months when you’re not getting much sun anyway. I don’t think this would be hydrating enough if you have dry or dehydrated skin.

My husband and I were in the market for a deep moisturizing day cream with SPF, since our old brand wasn’t really doing it for us anymore. When I spotted the Andalou Naturals Daily Defense lotion, I tested it at the store and immediately decided to pick it up.
First off, despite the SPF in it, it doesn’t smell like sunblock. As with many Andalou products, it smells lightly sweet. Not cloying, not chemically, just pleasant. The smell dissipates almost immediately after application.
This stuff moisturizes like a dream. I use it both day and night because I find it does a great job any time of day. It’s light enough to not feel heavy during the day, but creamy enough that it really helps my skin soak up loads of moisture at night.
My husband and I have both noticed a positive change in our skin’s appearance as well. Our skin looks brighter and healthier – no dullness, no dry patches. We both love this stuff.
I’ve got the Andalou BB cream, but I’m dying to try more of their products. I’d like to try a serum and an undereye treatment as well.
The packaging is simple and convenient – just a plain squeeze tube. I think this moisturizer was $9 at the organic market down the street, which is an amazing price for such a terrific product.

I love some Andalou Naturals products, which I throughly investigated the brands through EWG skindeep. They’re non-GMO, and mostly no toxins contained.(Refer to EWG /skindeep and Cosdna.com) Andalou naturals’ eye serum and BB cream untinted SPF 30 works wonders for me. Sometimes I feel the eye serum leaves my eye area dry, but seems to work fine. No harm.
BB cream is the best so far. I use it as a sunscreen as well. With a good experience, I purchased Aloe mint body lotion and this daily moisturizer SPF 18. The body lotion is fine, I love the minty smell and it’s a bit sticky after applying to your skin, but it goes away for some time later.
The moisturizer gave me a big health problem.
First time I applied, I could smell that fresh tangerine smell but mixed with some kind of chemical smell. About 2 minutes later, I felt as if my face was swelling, but I thought it would go away soon, but then I started to feel dizzy and this severe headache came, too.
I started to feel nausea and tried to vomit a couple of times, and eventually led me to have diarrhea that night. When my symptom was gone, I applied the moisturizer again and waited, and the same result came.
I searched the ingredient, and it contains benzyl alcohol (red label of high toxicity: Cosdna.com, 5 orange label: ewg) which causes respiratory problem. It is the only cause of this health problem I could think of now. Maybe some extract or tangerine oil triggered, I don’t know.
I have been so sick, now I’m afraid to put that back on my face…I’m thinking if I should throw it away…
If you’re sensitive about smell or allergic with respiratory reaction, then you should avoid this one. Other than this, other products are superb for me. I won’t buy this moisturizer again.

I just ordered my second tube of this moisturizer from Vitacost. I really like it! It moisturizes my combo skin very well without a greasy residue and is a perfect base for makeup (in my case BB cream). It has anti-aging botanicals, SPF 18, and no harsh chemicals with a light citrusy scent that doesn’t linger long. The tube is quite generous (2.7 oz) and has lasted me almost 6 months, so it’s a great value for around $12. Will continue to re-purchase and support this fabulous cruelty free brand!

I’ve used different (more toxic) brands in the past – Oil of Olay, Neutrogena, L’Oreal, MAC… but I’m on a quest to go natural, so I first started with Devita Solar Protective Moisture, which had great reviews. Sadly, it didn’t work for my combo skin. My skin didn’t feel moisturized and it burned my eyes to the point that I had to wait 5 minutes before I could start my makeup routine. I used my husband’s moisturizer until I could find something else.
I got the Daily Defense because I saw Christopher Drummond recommended Andalou Naturals for skin care. I’ve been wanting to try Christopher Drummond Beauty products (and have yet to), but that’s another story.
As for the moisturizer… all I can say is WOW! The smell is nice and non-offensive, like faint lemons. The texture is creamy, but not greasy. My face feels hydrated and I don’t have to wait forever for it to sink in to start my makeup routine. Best of all, my eyes don’t burn when I put this on.
The tube packaging, while not the most attractive, is hygeinic and practical for traveling. The price point is reasonable ~$15 for 2.7 oz, but if you shop around online, you can get it cheaper.
I can’t wait to try other products from this line. 🙂
