   A letdown from failed promises.

   I bought this product because it promised to have light hydration and will never clog pores. In reality, my face would get so oily few hours after using it and I would wake up with clogged pores.

   Paula’s Choice marketed this product for acne prone skin and yet on their product page, it says that it’s for all skin types. There can be no such thing. Most people with acne prone skin have oily skin and the preferred moisturizer would those that are truly light.

   They’ve wanted to cater to a wider range of users that’s why they made it more emollient than it should be. They need to have a focus on their products.

   The most disturbing thing is that it clogged my pores and worsen my sebaceous hyperplasia. How can this be when Paula’s Choice said it wouldn’t clog pores? I guess it’s just another marketing ploy.

   Also, the insignificant amount of antioxidants made this product not much better than a drugstore brand – which a lot of their newer products seem to be like these days.

   I wish Makeupalley would monitor reviewers better because many who are either employees of Paula’s Choice or followers seem to be marking simple, direct and truthful but low-rated reviews as unhelpful.

   I just don’t want to see Makeupalley become a place for companies to manipulate their products and Paula’s Choice already doing that with their Beautypedia and on their main website.

   Many unfavourable reviews don’t get publish there especially if it’s for a new product like this. They’ll wait until they get enough positive reviews before showing it on their product page.

   Makeupalley is not a pawn for these companies and us reviewers shouldn’t be under their control. Let’s provide truthful reviews.

   Unfortunately the new Paula’s Choice CLEAR Oil Free Moisturizer is a pretty bland product. This does provide subtle hydration, which might be enough for those with very oily skin, but isn’t hydrating enough for normal-dry skin. This is okay since I like to use lots of layers. This does contain some antioxidants but definitely is not enough for those looking to have a well rounded skincare routine. For what you get with this I think it is a little pricey since this doesn’t contain any real actives. If you have oily skin but still want some beneficial or anti-aging ingredients you will most certainly need to use at least a couple more products for a well rounded routine. I guess I am a little confused as to where in people’s routine this product really fits, especially since Paula’s Choice seems to be releasing a new product every other week. I will use the rest of this product on my neck and decollete since it is decent and fragrance free but I would not repurchase it. My video review can be seen here: w

   I bought this product after reading some good description on its product page:
   *Light hydration
   *Niacinamide to minimize pores
   *Ceramides to calm redness
   *Antioxidants to sooth skin

   After using the product, I reached out to customer service to ask some more questions about its anti-aging properties. I can’t believe what their customer service told me:
   *This is just a basic moisturizer.
   *If I want antioxidants, I should get their other lines.
   *This product is for teenagers.

   What a joke! They promoted their products to contain all these anti-aging ingredients but when you talk to an actual person, they will deny that it’ll do more than just a moisturizer. I’m so tired of false marketing.

   It seems that I just bought a glorified moisturizer that costs a lot of money. I wished I just bought one from the drugstore and saved some cash or bought one from The Ordinary.

   It seems that they have given up on creating quality products. Now, they just produce products to make money and throw in some famous ingredients in tiny amounts that won’t do anything but only to lure in buyers.

   Also, another important note, Paula Begoun cannot stop talking about the fallacy that mature skin is a skin type and she said it doesn’t matter what age you are, all skin products should work the same BUT their customer service said this product is for teenagers.

   I’m a teenager, so what? I should only use basic moisturizer? How stupid is this?

   It seems some genius at Paula’s Choice think they’ll have a bigger market share if they promote some of their products to cater to my age bracket. What an insult that teenagers should only use a basic moisturizer.

   Nope, there is some ingredient(s) that causes itchy rash-like breakouts, for me usually one of the botanicals. I miss the original PC formulas so much and have had very little luck with anything in past 10 years or so (but can use 1% Retinol Booster, 4%BHA and eye gel ok).

   This is Paula’s Choice newest moisturizer, just released in October 2018. I bought 2 sample sizes to test and have used for 1 night – so far so good! It does leave my skin smooth and hydrated feeling and with no immediate irritation but I don’t know how dry skinned people would like it? It has ingredients to not only moisturize oily skin but to calm and reduce redness and that’s really why I am giving it a chance (other “calming” products never work well for me at all). At $29 for 2 oz it’s not a terrible price so hopefully it will continue to work out well!
