   Rich and creamy, it sounds like it’d work really well for skin in need of a little extra moisture, but it burns when you apply it especially after you exfoliate, and burns the eyes. It doesn’t burn as bad as the extra thick, yellow version of this lotion, but it was enough for me to give up and give me $50 jar away.

   This replaced the older Biotherm “gel-creme oligo-thermal” dry skin cream version. It’s a light fluffy cream consistency that is somewhat gelly-like, for day or night use with no SPF. Comes in 50mL/1.69 fl oz (around $36-39USD/$45 CDN) jars and a few times a year, Biotherm sells a larger 125mL/4.22 fl oz (I believe I paid about $62-65 CDN for this size, can’t recall) sized jar. I purchased this at SDM. In the US this is labelled “Aquasource 24Hr for Dry Skin Deep Hydration Replenishing Cream”. There are also versions for extra dry skin, and combination-oily skin. I chose the dry skin version as the combo-oily version lists alcohol very high and when I did use a jar years ago I found it drying. I absolutely love the fresh aqueous/ocean scent of these Biotherm creams (and many Biotherm products – I even use their body spray) – but my skin is sensitive and does not react well to heavily-scented creams. The dry skin version has a slightly lighter scent (but sadly, is still quite strong), and I am able to use it – just not on a daily basis especially if I’ve used any glycolic/lactic or any other AHA skincare. However, not everyone is sensitive to scent so this won’t be an issue for everyone.

   It makes a great base for make-up and feels very clean, non-sticky, non-greasy and leaves skin soft as velvet. It absorbs completely with no after-feel. I gave this a 3/5 because aside from a) being highly fragranced and b) packaged in a jar which makes the ingredients go bad quicker and isn’t sanitary – I love the texture and feel of the cream, and it does a great job moisturising and my skin doesn’t get flaky or tight-feeling throughout the day. I doubt this would be moisturising enough for very dry skin, but may be suitable for combination, slightly dry, or normal skin that is not sensitive.

   Overall, while I don’t feel this creme is the best thing on the market – there are definitely better products in all price ranges – but I do like the texture for using before make-up application. It lists silicones but does not have that “silicone feel” and has never balled up/pilled under make-up.

   Pros:
   – luxurious silky texture
   – absorbs instantly
   – works well under make up

   Cons:
   – icky and annoying jar packaging
   – contains fragrance
   – contains denatured alcohol
   – contains various potentially pore clogging ingredients (fatty alcohols, shea butter etc)
   – overpriced for what amounts to a basic moisturiser

   I would not repurchase. If you’re not sensitive to scent, and just want a nice cream to use under make-up, I would recommend trying this out.
