It’s ok actually, not as good as RT (even the new version) but not a bad product. It expands well when wet, reasonably soft and I can work with it. Blends the foundation/bb cream well but does require a bit more work than RT because it’s a bit more dense. I have two and I prefer the tear shape one. they wash well and for the price as a back up cheap makeup sponge totally worth it.

As good as the real techniques sponge but I prefer my brushes. The results are better and they are easier to use and to clean. Also With acne prone skin, it would be very expensive to replace the sponges as often as you should.

I bought this as my first reusable sponge because I was hoping I could get away with a cheaper alternative to the higher end BeautyBlender and Real Techniques sponges.
Having no experience with this kind of sponge, my first impression was that it was very average. Other than the fact that it got bigger when it was wet, and that it had that teardrop shape, I could se nothing special about this sponge.
Here is an overview of my thoughts on this sponge, as well as a comparison to the Real Techniques sponge that I recently bought because I had to know if all the sponges was like the W7 one:
– It’s very dense and heavy. Because of this it sucks up and holds a lot of water, and can feel kind of wet on the face. The RT one didn’t feel wet at all compared to the W7 one, it was only slightly damp, but it didn’t feel like I got water in my face while using it.
– Because of the density it is also quite hard, and “bouncing” this on my face feels like a mini-punch. I didn’t realize just how hard until I compared to a Real Techniques sponge, that one felt like a dream and i could “bounce” with fair amount of pressure without hurting my face.
– It sucks up A LOT of product. Applying product with this didn’t work at all because it just sucks up almost all the product you put on it, dispensing nothing on your face. When I tired to use this for blending product it also sucked up product rather than blending, and the more I “blended” the more product was taken of my face. To compare with the RT one I had to use just half the amount of product of what I’d use with the W7 and I also got more coverage even with less product. The RT one can also be used to apply product without stealing all of it.
Packaging is also terrible, which at first I was like “whatever, it’s cheap”, but it is actually super inconvenient that I have no place to dry off the sponge. Also the packaging has these sharp edges so even when the sponge is dry, the edges could end up cutting the sponge if you try to put it back in.
Overall rating: 2 lippies, because I guess it does work and the size and shape is better than the disposable wedges, but even though it’s cheap I still think it’s overpriced compared to quality and performance. You will also waste money on all the product this sponge sucks up instead of putting it on you face.
Final thoughts: After trying the Real Techniques one I can safely say that I will not go back, and even if I couldn’t afford to keep buying the RT one, I would probably buy those flat round sponges instead because they are cheaper and will suck up less product.
