Best brush cleanser I have ever purchased! The solution very effortlessly removes product from my brushes and smells of citrus (odor is not overwhelming as long as the area is well ventilated). My brushes dried much quicker than the soap and water method as well. Anything that can remove Revlon Colorstay foundation is impressive in my opinion and this did just that from my stippling brush with no hassle. The bristles are not only cleansed but conditioned too. I will definitely repurchase, however, you must be careful not to soak the entire length of the bristles or else it may dissolve the glue holding them and take the time to wipe ALL of the product off your bristles before drying.

I needed a daily brush cleaner (one that doesn’t require water) and saw this via some reviews. Based on the mixed reviews, I was a little worried, but swapped for this anyway.
This is my first daily brush cleaner, and I am greatly pleased!
It has a nice scent (not peaches, which was something I was looking forward to 🙁 its citrus as it has lemon extract in it), which isnt too strong, but does leave a scent on the brushes for a little while.
As for cleaning, this does an excellent job removing the products so the brush is clean and sanitized for the next use. It does not remove all staining on the brushes, but that is what weekly deep cleaning is for (I use Johnson’s Baby Wash). All ingredients are environment friendly, and this doesn’t contain alcohol like a lot of brush cleaners out there, which can really dry out and ruin the hairs, shortening your brushes life span (hence why I use Johnson’s).
Ive seen a lot of women complain about this product making their brushes slick or greasy. The directions state to spray this directly onto your brush, then dry with a paper towel or terry cloth. GOD FORBID you do this however!
What I do is spray a few spritzes on a soft cloth, then rub the brush back and forth on it, until no more color/product comes off, then I rub the brush on a dry part of the cloth, and let the brush dry for 5-10 minutes. Doing it this way leaves my brushes sanitized, clean, and softer than before. At first I sprayed the product directly onto the brush, rotating, like in the directions. It left me with a slick and slightly oily feeling brush. I had to go wash my brush to get it off, so DO NOT spray directly on the brush! Spray on a paper towel or cloth first!
Overall, its a wonderful, inexpensive daily cleaner, that leaves my brushes soft and ready to re-use. Its helped clear the acne on my face by keeping my brushes clean, and the smaller 4.25 oz. spray bottle is big enough for plenty of cleanings, yet small enough for easy handling and smart storage. Its a winner in my book (enough to make me make my first review)!

i guess everyone is different. i just wrote a review for the mac brush cleanser which i tried after being a fan of the japonesque cleanser for quick cleaning for years. the mac cleanser just didn’t work as well. i transfer product into a spray bottle for easy cleaning of my eyeliner brush and other brushes that need a quick cleaning. the japonesque is far superior. it works! it breaks up the eyeliner and takes away color on brushes with ease. i really like it. i won’t change from this one again. when ulta has a sale this is a good deal. now, i do prefer the big bottle with my own sprayer and i remember being a little dissatisfied with the sprayer in the smaller version of this product.
