   I really like MAC products a lot, it’s one of my favorite brands. Most of the staff at the store I go to are nice and helpful but one incident stands out where the store manager was super rude. I had just bought a blush and accidentally dropped it at home that same day. I went back to see if they could exchange it, which they did, but the manager was acting like I was such an idiot and she told me she really “doesn’t have to.” Seriously? It took two seconds and didn’t cost her anything. Not sure what the eye rolls were about. Nevertheless, I still give them five lippies because I have not had anything but nice experiences at their store.

   Also their “Back to MAC” program is so amazing!! Bring six empties and get a full sized eye shadow or lipstick for free. Their Viva Glam charity is pretty cool too, I love supporting a good cause.

   I discovered MAC when I was about 18 years old . . . so I’ve been using it for a long time. I went through a brief period when I was about 21 and thought I could just find drug store dupes for their products and not spend so much money on my make up, because I do have a lot of it.

   I was really, really wrong. A couple years ago I decided to go to school for make up and took some classes. I do free lance work, and I have the MAC Pro discount card, which I use a lot for the products I purchase.

   All of my make up is MAC (except for false eye lashes because well they’re something I give to my clients, and the one thing I cannot justify purchasing at MAC). I have about 6 eye palettes, 2 blush palettes, 2 face palettes, numerous potted eye shadows, foundations, brushes, mascaras, prep and prime, potted blushes, bronzers, powder compacts, you name it.

   I am pretty much exclusively MAC. I know some people say it breaks them out, and another reviewer was not happy that the SA people seem to be unhappy to help her but in reality (and I know this isn’t fair or right) but ladies at the MAC store are more likely to help people who look like they belong in the store. It’s not fair, and not right, but it is what it is. For example, I am not a tiny person but I’m not huge either. Whenever I go into lulu lemon, I know their clothes fit me but I’m not a size 0 and no one actively helps me. But when I go to MAC and my hair and make up are always done, they actually know me by name and know when I’ve changed my hair (dyed it, cut it, etc). It’s not fair, not right but it’s what they know is going to make them a lot of money, probably. Also if you look like you know the store they will probably be able to chat with you a little more which is always good for them because they can recommend more products, and maybe you understand a little more.

   I have never felt like the SA’s at MAC aren’t helpful or rude but then again because I’m a freelance artist I’m in there a lot and I buy a lot of product. Not sure . . . but maybe.

   Their products are expensive, I get that. But you get what you pay for. NARS and Naked Palettes aren’t cheap either, but just as many people like those. MAC isn’t made to be “skin friendly” make up, either. I know that also sounds bad, but this make up line is for fashion and shows and photographs . . . it’s meant to be put in place, stay in place and stay vibrant. When I’ve used another brand for weddings because someone says oh I have an allergy, the colours don’t always stay the same way or stay as vibrant for the whole day. It happens. My point is that MAC isn’t meant to help your skin breathe or anything . . . it’s meant to be make up. They don’t advertise as being good for your skin, or light and airy or whatever. So I don’t know why some people expect that it will make your skin better – no, it will make your skin look better.

   I know that sounds rude or whatever, but it’s very honest. It’s make up that’s made for people who want to wear make up and have fun with colour. It’s quality product, but at the end of the day if you’re covering your face (and essentially your pores) with product, you have to know it’s not the same as not having anything on your face. MAC is the best make up I’ve used and I can’t see myself switching to anything any time soon, if at all.

   I used to really like MAC. I had fun trying on lipsticks like any other woman but lately every time I go into the store I am less than impressed with the sales people. Either they look annoyed or are not interested in listening to your questions/concerns and just want to push any product on you. I think the stores are generally set up pretty well and it’s fairly easy to browse but some of the displays are overcrowded and hard to maneuver when the store is busy. I recently bought a couple of products and returned the following day – at least that process was painless. The sales person that “assisted” me the day before happened to see me returning the purchase and looked equally annoyed as she did the day before so I can only assume she must have been worried that her commission was getting revoked. I know there are some really good SA’s and I don’t want to discount their contribution so I am not taking more lippies off the rating than I could. I’m sorry to say that the few bad experiences are enough for me to not return to the store. There are so many options out there, MAC should pay more attention to their customer facing staff if they hope to keep their market share.

   I admit I *love* MAC….my #1 fave brand!my first experience was at a free standing store in KC, MO at a horse show when I was ~18 & I was hooked.i find these products so hard to dupe.The quality is thru the roof!i had taken a break from MAC to buy DS “dupes” &now I realize I was wasting my money on products that were so low quality &u get what u pay for (somexs) I feel like MAC is so worth it! I have about 10lipliners,~70lippies,VGlam(s),a small collection of e/s,brows (pencil/Fluidline);BlackTrack,eyeliner,powders(loose/pressed),blushes,brush set,mascara,oil control lotion/strobe cream;concealer,MSF,bronzer,pencil sharpeners,sponge,fdtn’s,oil cleanser,prep+prime (face & lip),holiday sets, et al. So u can see I’m a huge fan I pretty much have evthing to make a full MAC “face”&I love it all no duds not a single 1 of those products so yeah yes I’ve tried a lot of their products &it’s hard to inspire line loyalty in me coz I’m such a line h0 esp when I’m spending a ton of $ not ev line can consistently be a hit!But MAC is.I mostly order from Macy’s/MACwebsite coz no store here just a Macy’s counter but they deliver quick &so easy takes Paypal n comes right to ur door.When are they going to quit animal testing? B2M=kewL!!I remember when MAC didn’t animal test but alas the EL monster machine sells to China.

   This is a store you’ll love going to. They have basically anything a girl wants. However, their products are very pricey, especially their makeup brushes. For example, an average foundation brush will cost you around 40/50 euros.

   PROS:
   – Mostly very high quality products. Not all for sure as I’ve had some heartbreaks at MAC. However, stuff like their Pro Longwear concealer and their #188 brush made me fall in love with MAC.
   – Attractive brand and design. It’s simple and classy.
   – Nice and experienced staff. They will show/teach you anything you ask about. Although that’s their job, a lot of stores don’t assure that for their costumers.

   CONS:
   – Very expensive.
   – Some awful products, such as their liquid foundations: they smell and feel very chemical, my face was burning within an hour with their oil-free foundation!

   Overall, I love MAC, but some of their products aren’t worth the price. Nowadays, you can find dupes for a lot of them. Those you can’t.. well, you have to spend the money.
