I’m not a massive fan of Soap & Glory but keep purchasing their products in the hope I’ll find one I like. So when I saw they’d released some new face masks, I thought I would give them a try.
This particular mask includes two small pods, enough for two applications. The mask itself is VERY pink – almost neon – and has a liquidy consistency, making application quite messy. It comes complete with a free scoop which I guess you’re meant to use to apply the mask, but I actually found it to be pretty useless because of the mask’s consistency. I ended up applying it both times using a combination of my fingers and a foundation brush.
Once applied – and be prepared for a lot of mess and a lot more of the mask dripping off your face before you’re done – it takes a while to dry completely. I definitely applied too much on the first application, making the mask very thick in places. On the second application I applied a much thinner layer meaning it dried quicker, BUT I had a lot of mask left over which I had to throw away because it dries out if you try to keep it.
Once the mask had finally dried (which took about 30 minutes, not the 20-25 minutes stated on the packaging), removing it was also quite messy. It came off mostly as small pieces as opposed to the larger pieces I was hoping for, and any that remained on my skin was difficult to remove with a washcloth without scrubbing at it and making my skin sore.
That said – and although I didn’t really see any remnants of grime on the mask once removed – it did leave my skin feeling really smooth and soft.
I’m kind of torn where this mask is concerned because although it did leave me skin feeling really nice, it’s so messy to apply I’m not sure it’s worth it. For the price – £4.00 – I might give it another try some time in the future, but I think for now I’ll stick to my preferred sheet masks.
