Hands down THE richest sheet mask I’ve ever used! I was expecting the liquid in here to be like a serum, but it’s literally like a tub of thick moisturizer with 2 sheet masks thrown in as an afterthought. From the moment I opened the packaging for the upper and lower mask pieces I could see the sheet within the transparent plastic tray, covered in a milky essence. Curious, I swiped a little bit off as there was plenty of excess and rubbed into my hand. The texture although fluid enough was very rich, even oily, and not just on my hand, after I’d applied the mask for 10 minutes and removed, there were large patches of the liquid still sat on my skin that hadn’t been absorbed (tells me this would suit dehydrated skin pretty well) and as per instructions I gently massaged this in to face and neck area. Unlike SK2 masks for example, I didn’t find that there was tons of essence left over, it was just sufficient for the single use.
I used this straight after a hot shower which is the only time my skin feels parched somewhat but despite that and even once massaged in there was still an oily layer all over my face. Luckily said heaviness did not equate to acne the next morning, although having said that I wouldn’t like to risk using on consecutive nights and at this price point nor would I be inclined to! (got my single piece to test off of e-bay).
Did it help relieve the dry, tight feeling on my face after my hot shower? Yes, and then some! All that saturation also gave me a nice dewy (albeit oily) glow for the next couple of hours until I got into bed and awoke to my normal-looking self. But this is the thing…I could very easily achieve similar results without the oiliness and most definitely without the price tag ($250 for 6 pieces). I didn’t find the actual sheet mask itself to be of good quality which was disappointing when you’re spending this kind of money. In fact it dried right up before the 8 minutes application time was even up and the quality of it just felt cheap. The packaging itself however was luxurious and good quality.
Bottom line: If you have some money to burn and are veering more towards mature, dry and non-sensitive (it contains fragrance and Eucalyptus oil amongst other potential irritants) then you might just find this to be a godsend. If you need hydration it will hydrate – make no mistake about that! For most other skin types (and pockets) there’s lots of other alternatives out there that are just as good if not better.

My favorite face mask. The skin stays gorgeous! It feels firm, hydrate, soft and revitalised.

I’ve tried all the SK-II masks and a few other hydration masks here and there, but I absolutely love the La Mer Hydrating one the best. I have very dry skin with a little oiliness around the T-zone. This mask leaves the surface of your skin noticeably smooth, it gets rid of the little raised bumps I sometimes get next to my nose under the corner of my eyes and it keeps my skin like that for a few days after I’ve used it. If you want a lifting mask, the SK-II 3D one is the best, for hydration this one beats the SK-II Facial Treatment Mask. Another great thing is this mask doesn’t leave a film that turns into little balls when you try to touch the skin, but you have to leave it on only for 10 minutes max. Love it!

This mask will remain my HG as long as they still continue with the production. It made me love my skin more than i already do :))))) its milky essence and absorbed really well. The scent is very nice calming seaweed.LOVE!!! It made my skin super soft, radiant, clear, hydrating and didnt leave any grease or residue behind And the result lasted even till the next morning :))))
Lets say this product convinced me to try out la mer beauty treatment ;D

Yikes. My mom is a devout follower of La Mer and at age 50 she has flawless skin. She gave me one of these facials to try. I used a scrub and applied this mask. There is a lot of product on the mask! I rubbed in to my face and neck and went to bed. In the morning I woke up with several cystic pimples (and I never break out – maybe one tiny pimple during TOM, but that’s it). I was horrified. I think that this may be a fantastic mask for people that really need that moisture (very dry skin), but for me it was too rich. My skin didn’t look glowy or dewy at all. I was extremely disappointed. I do still love the regular La Mer creme for nightime.
I prefer the NARS aqua gel hydrator over this.

From the La Mer website: Utterly sumptuous, this pure cotton mask saturates dry, dehydrated skin on contact with Hydrating Ferments and tourmaline – encouraging it to feel hydrated, nourished and conditioned. Potent marine extracts help diminish visible signs of aging to reveal a more youthful vitality. Skin looks smoother, feels soft and supple to the touch. Includes 6 masks.
My Impressions: The Hydrating Facial was introduced in early 2010 and replaces the previous offering which was called Radiant Facial. In this review I will compare the two and point out differences between these products. I liked the predecessor mask very much, so I was curious to see whether this could live up to the high expectations set by the former La Mer mask. The mask itself still consists of an upper and a lower part, made of thick high quality cotton, each part comes individually sealed in a plastic tray. The mask is soaked with a white soft cream, in terms of color it is more white and opaque than the old product which was more of a translucent slightly yellowish gel. Each mask in the Radiant Facial came with a primer vial which was a gel to apply before putting the cotton mask on. I actually liked the way the primer soaked right into my skin. The Hydrating Facial does not come with the primer anymore, so it is supposedly already incorporated in the mask which makes it a one step product. The mask feels nicely soothing and cool when it touches the skin, similar to the old product. In terms of the effect on my skin I cannot detect much difference yet because I have only used the new product a few times but so far I like it.
Price comparison: The Radiant Facial came in a box with 8 applications including 8 primer vials for $320, this Hydrating Facial costs $250 for 6 uses, and contains no primer vials, so La Mer slightly increased the price.
Overall: At over $40 per use this is definitely a splurge, but I really like this product. For me, this is one of the best masks on the market, it feels luxurious and soothing. Perfect pampering, I will continue to buy this.
