I actually love this mask. I use it more to help pull out toxins from specific breakout areas. I dab it on (or just cover a specific area of my face), leave it for 10 min and wash with cold water (cold helps activate it more). It really helped clear up my chin and cheeks breakout within a week. Not overly drying at all. I don’t mind the fragrance and have not experienced any of the “stinging” other reviewers have mentioned.

Did not get on with this at all. I liked how it wasn’t drying, so it was easy to remove & my face didn’t feel tight afterwards. However, my face just didn’t feel clean afterwards, or how I would expect it to after using a mask. It was very highly fragranced for a clay mask, and stung quite badly after the initial application. It did go away after a minute or so, but it was quite uncomfortable. This mask is fairly expensive and I don’t feel like it is very effective at all

My skin didn’t feel particularly clean or refreshed which is what I would expect after a mask. Also, it made my skin feel dried out and taut for a few days after use.

I was looking for clay mask to purify my combination skin, as I have big pores on my nose that need to be purified often, and I also get breakouts on my chin and forehead sometimes. I like Clarins products and I saw this mask that had just come out so I decided to give it a try.
This is a 10 min mask which Clarins claims to be used as an “emergency” mask when your skin need a purifying boost. I have used it 4 times and this is what I think:
CONS:
1. Unfortunately the first impression I got which is the smell was really dissapointing :(. For me, the smell is WAAAAAAAY too strong and perfume like, not soothing or purifying like, just strong fragance that even irritates my nostrils if applied too near the area. So this made me think this mask is not suitable for sensitive skin. I love Clarins, but sometimes they put too much frangance which is a pitty.
2. Again, I don’t know if it’s the fragance, the colouring (chemical green) or other ingredient, but this stings quite bad, specially in sensitive areas arount my lips or nose. I know that these type of purifying mask are suppose to feel like they are deeply cleaning and sometimes there is a sting-like feeling, but this was not it, this was irritation of sensitive areas, on the areas where it’s supposed to clean it did not sting.
PROS:
1. The consistency is good, easy to apply over your face and does not dry out so you can retouch if necessary.
2. Does not dry the skin or make it breakout (I am prone to breakout with products that don’t work well on my skin).
CONCLUSION: Skin does feel refreshed and clean afterwards, but just on the surface. I don’t think it cleans pores or purify in depth, but it is nice to use once a week, maybe after a showe when your pores are open, to have an “extra” cleanse, but don’t expect any visible resuts. I find that this is a mask for having a good time (psychollogical results) but not a serous product. The good thing is that although it stings and feels strange on the skin, it does not dry or irritate, so it can be used weekly.
I wan’t to try other clay masks, like Shiseido’s or Clinique’s. Won’t repurchase this one.
