Stings like a beast – especially after I’ve rinsed off, and that too only 7-8 minutes after applying a very thin layer, however I love the results I get with this: pores look smaller, all the gunk in them is removed and my skin looks and feels a lot smoother and healthier. I’m now on my 5th usage and the stinging sensation is starting to subside slightly compared to initial use so don’t give up on this one, it’s worth it. Purging was also an issue for me for the first few uses but has now totally stopped. In fact what I like the most about applying this mud mask is the acne-reducing effect. I’ve used many mud masks before but seldom few have the ability to zap a zit in the amount of time this one does. Got this in the 1.75 oz jar and saving up for the tube upgrade which gives you double the amount for only a little more cost. At the rate I’m going through this though (barely made a dent) that tube purchase is a long way off yet!

I love this mask. I have read reviews about how it stings on the face upon application and after when you rinse it with water. For me, it does sting ONLY after i remove it but its not unbearable and it lasts for at most 10 minutes. You will not see immediate results on the first day. Like what other users have said, you will see the magic on the 3rd day and that when i saw it. Yesterday was the third day since i used this product and i know it works because my skin looked so smooth and my pores are so small i did not even put any make up on except for my conealer.
This stuff is amazing for those who want to get out of the door without make up on. I swear by this stuff. I bought the 100ml size and im happy i did. I will repurchase this when i run out.

So disappointing that I had to throw it away. This product broke me out for days every time I tried it.

The only mask I’d ever put on my face! I’m 53 with normal / combination skin (oily T zone) and this makes sure my skin it totally clean from within. It does tingle both whilst on my skin and after I rinse it off, but after I apply a comforting oil / cream, my skin calms down. No breakouts, no reactions. Just perfectly clean skin.
Buy the tube though, not the jar.

This is a mud mask but its nothing special. Despite the science reading nicely, the best thing about this is that its quite fine so only a small amount is needed, does a decent job drawing out impurities. I have quite resilient skin and tolerate acids, retinol, etc very well however I found this painful to use and far too harsh. It did subside slightly however no beauty product that does not produce amazeball results, should be painful. I cannot see any long lasting benefits and why stinging in needed. As such, I do not recommend this. Aesop Primrose Mask is still the best which i always go back to. Its not a pleasant experience to use this, its neither comforting nor soothing, so after half the jar, it went in the trash.

This has to be my favourite mask… EVER! it is really good and I love the way it makes my skin feel afterwards … a slight tingling. My face always looks healthy afterwards and it helped heel blemishes quickly which I used to get. (using NIOD regime has just been so good for my skin that I only get 1 if any hormonal blemishes now.) It is quite thick and has a copper smell and I find it easier to put on damp skin. I have left it for 10 minutes to several hours. removal is quick but don’t remove with a white cloth as this stuff stains and washing didn’t shift it! I usually wash my face and then use a large cotton pad to give a final rinse and clean off last of it. I have the larger version which comes in a metal tube which is easier to use than the glass jar version.

I like this mask a lot more than I thought I would. It really cleans out my skin without drying it out and without irritation (which is surprising given the burning sensation described below). A little goes a long way with this mud mask so I actually think the pricing is quite good for this product ($39 CAD for 1.7oz or 50 ml) and it’s now carried at sephora so easy access for many people.
I do have a few mini gripes with this product though: 1. The packaging. The glass jar has a narrowish top so it makes it really hard to get the product out of the bottom (If you buy the larger size off the Deciem website it comes in a tube I think but I can’t get through that much product to warrant it), 2. The stinging/burning sensation after you wash it off is a little annoying. It doesn’t hurt or irritate my skin at all, but that still doesn’t mean that I want to feel a mild burning sensation every time I want to use this on my face, 3) it’s a rich red brown colour, which is all fine and dandy until you go to wash it off your face in the sink and it kind of gets everywhere (incl. staining my face cloth). Use it in the shower you might suggest? You’re supposed to apply this to dry skin and wait for it to dry. Bleh.
All-in-all though I definitely see the benefits in my skin though and I haven’t found another mask that works as well as this one. I will definitely repurchase and I do recommend if you don’t have sensitive skin.

I have sensitive, combination skin. I have had hormonal acne for the last 10 years and am now in my early 30’s.
I’ve used this mud 8 times in the last 2 months. I find that it spreads easily and dries in about 10 minutes. I leave it on for 30 minutes and my skin does feel tight afterwards. I do feel that it removes dirt and oil along with drying up minor pimples. This is not a miracle product but as far as mud masks go, I think it works well to detoxify my skin.
I don’t think my skin could tolerate using this mask more than twice a week especially in the winter time, this will dry out skin unless you use heavy moisturizers afterwards. I will be purchasing this again once I run out. It comes in 2 sizes and I will be purchasing the larger tube which should last me 4 months.

So I went into Deciem with hormonal acne on my forehead and chin. I was desperate and picked this up (the tube form) with the advice of one of the kind ladies who work there, along with a bottle of their Advanced 2% retinoid and a bottle of Niacinamide from The Ordinary line.
Even though the tube says that you should only use it once a week, I used it everyday for a week and a half now in conjunction with the other treatments. I am happy to report that my acne is almost completely gone, and my skin is not oily, but glowing. It used to feel so congested all the time!
I am trying to taper off the usage to a few times a week now, but I am loving the results that I can’t help but layer a bit onto my problem prone areas once I finish my nightly double cleanse.
Overall, this was a pleasant surprise. I have tried clay masks before that dried my skin out like crazy, but this one doesn’t do that.

So, I dislike products in a jar packaging so that’s a con. It does sting as it says on the website and I guess it does sort of dry out my breakouts. However I wonder if that stinging sensation is good, could it be irritation? Or a strong concentration of some ingredient? I don’t know if I would buy it again.
